Keeping that on a need to know basis! It’s a 75 re-issue so did have to borrow a bench press and drill 2 holes...

There were a couple of Geddy Lee necks available on Stratosphere a few weeks back...

Yeah I saw one, and it's gone. I can't see buying one of those allparts repro necks.

    US Bitsa

Edit: The eagle-eyed may spot the non-standard pick guard.

Ebay find US body that had been routed to be a PJ. Refilled route back to J cavity with basswood and copper shielded. Fitted a stock J pick guard and about 1cm square of copper shield visible! Could either peel of that bit of copper then colour match and get gloss finish or take the easy route....

Where do you live so I can steal that neck, please? :D :D :D

  3. I had a guy suggest a black pearloid guard over on twatbass.com. I dunno. Seems like every brand has a different coloration. I'm thinking if I was to swap the guard it would be to this one. Kinda like the white binding...then again I like Stingray5's no guard pic...

Geddy rules, but I bet he doesn't pay for his strings.

And I bet they get changed incredibly regularly.

LOL like every 10 minutes? I'd agree he doesn't, Entwhistle's deal with Rotosound was you can use my name if you keep me supplied. He worked with Roto to develop the Swing Bass string ya know...

Mmmm, nice - but for a stealth, it's gotta be all black. Sorry! :)

I knew you'd say that, lol. I'd bet big money those great folks at Hipshot would sub in some not brass saddles if asked.

Aha, the words 'nail' and 'head' come to mind, sir! :D
In fact, I've always liked 'stealth' style basses so thought I might one day do exactly that with this one - black control plate, black bridge. Only thing would then be the neck/fretboard and headstock. The bass was originally fretted but years ago I had it converted to fretless with some high grade Indian Rosewood which I wouldn't want to lose. However, I guess I could try and source another neck with an ebony board and black headstock (or maybe a Status graphite neck?).

    Jus' sayin'...  ;)

You can take the guesswork out of this by using the mathematical formula for calculating the corner frequency (point of roll-off) for a passive low pass filter -which is exactly how the tone control on passive basses work:

1/2(piRC), where R is the resistor value, C is the capacitor value, and Pi is delicious.

Failing that there are a couple on online calculators, I tend to use this one...

    Pi is infinitely delicious. :D

Man...I had the guard off mine when installing the thumb rest, and wondered why I should put it back on when I don't even own a pick...In the end I reinstalled it because I didn't want to fuss with fixing the screw holes. This look, with a black stack pot control plate, would be the bee's knees in my lowly opinion.

I'd agree that all 3 are phenomenal and something that is often missed when discussing them is that they each trigger different effects and sequences themselves. According to interviews i've seen over the years they dont use automatic sequencers or effects and its the band who triggers them in some way. That's just another task they are completing along with the rest of what they do.

I have no idea how they are triggering these things.

    Dave

Alex does a lot of it (with pedals). If you study him in live videos you'll notice him stomping a pedal not preceding a lead or anything, so it's not an effect for his guitar...

Nice... Black 'n Mapel... Pearly Blocks 'n Pearl Guard.

Those black machine heads give the mapel a bit of lift and definition. black bridge would of been tooo much, and i likes a thumb rest.

You're gonna get some fans... Take a look at the 'Black Bass' thread and search 'black and mapel' to see the love.

Thank you. It is a 2020 Geddy Lee USA signature, I added the thumb rest IN THE RIGHT PLACE. Ole Leo didn't get it right the first time there, now did he? :D  Geddy is my hero, but I bought the bass because I found it on ebay for $1600 and it is 2000 bucks new. I have zero intentions of keeping it "original", hence the black Hipshots and other ideas I have for it.

I'm pretty sure those rear covers don't go over a badass; the bridge goes back too far on the body I think.

I carried my guitar down to Guitar Center and the little college silly billy wouldn't pull one out of the bag to see if it would fit. I would say I'll never shop there again, but...I've never bought anything from them. :D

  12. I am wanting a black block maple neck to replace the pearl block, haven't found a Jazz version yet. Fender sells a Precision version, but no... On the fence about a black Hipshot hi mass bridge, or maybe a black ashtray. I'm unsure it would even fit considering how far back the bridge is mounted, though...

  13. Just another fat old yank who bought a new Jazz after 15 years without a bass. I won't be restringing my GL Jazz with flats or replacing the guard with a hideous tortoiseshell one, either. May I stay? :D
