    3 TS... 3 tone sunburst?

I dont do tort, and like more wood so if it dont need one then without, if ya got holes and to keep the line then clear, then black for simple, then off white for a more classic look

This thread pops up as I am looking at jazz bodies and necks, contemplating an all black jazz with NO guard and a black control plate. I hate that mine has screw holes in it. My local luthier said he could make them less noticeable but I would always see them and wouldn't be happy. Methinks he's right. I have an all black, not BWB, .090 on the way from WD with a bag of black screws. Accompanying it is this-

Never played a Jazz so not sure I would like the slimmer neck compared to the PBass which seems about right

Im not so keen on the Jazz body shape either and prefer the traditional PBass body shape

This is not an attempt at further advertising my sale, but I put my Limelight on FB Marketplace this evening and it received these comments regarding the fact that it's a P bass with a J neck.

Person #1 - "That's surely the wrong way around. Jazz body with a precision neck imho  It's the neck that gives the thunder on a precision...."

Person #2 - "I don't think a slightly wider nut width and string spacing "gives it thunder."

Person #3 - "no it doesn't but a proper fat P bass neck has a lot more timber than a slim jazz neck. That extra timber does make a lot of difference. Far more than high mass bridges etc."

Person #2 - "Well, let's face it, the totally different pickup configuration makes a bigger difference still."

Person #3 - "well ok sure, but pick up a P bass & play without plugging it into anything, still sounds like a P bass, do the same with a jazz, still sounds like a jazz. I do it all the time. I have 2 of each."

It struck me as a bit of an odd thing to say. What say you Basschat?

    Guitar players.

Yes, I now have two basses... the original Fender Jazz bass and now a Marcus Miller 5 string... I finally got a bass tutor through the local Rock School. Whilst not exactly my genre, it's a way forward. I was going to be playing with them, then lockdown hit - expecting it to resume shortly.

What year Jazz? Post up a pic. I advise you to find a small practice amp with an aux input so you can play your favorite songs thru your amp and play along. Great fun!

@2020Jazz how are you getting on with your swap

Oh boy, you had to ask! :D  Ok. I found a guy, pickguardian.com, who is going to make me a one piece gloss black scratchguard 3 hole stack knob control plate. What ya think of that?

I’ve got 2 stack knob jazzes and I love em, not only do they look cool,  but controlling each pickup and tone  individually is great , I will agree that it does take a while and a bit of playing around to get used to the settings

    Pics?
