Cheers

    Jake

    Will do mate.
coolio.

what gauge strings do you want to trade for.

i have a completely unused set that came straight off a fretless i had made. (i changed them for flatwounds) and they're long enough for a jazz bass neck so should be long enough for you.

They're quite a heavy gauge...probably about 105-110 on the E (that's heavy in my opinion anyway)

Or i have some thinner strings, whatever takes your fancy i will probably have (so long as they're not thicker than 110 on the E

  2.
Recently got a Fender P with pretty much brand new Ernie Ball flatwounds!

Never really been a flat wound player so looking for some nice, new roundwounds that will have a G strings long enough to fit!

    Cheers

    Jake
what gauge cause i might be able to help?

(i aint too sure of my gauge strings cause i have a load of sets which i've used for a couple of weeks then changed the whole set...just cause one broke)

quite simply, thick, medium or thin? (with approx size numbers.)

    ...how simplistic

  3.
A good deal, but I'm looking more for something I can stack tracks together on without a computer. I've already got a good mixer.
only just seen this post so my advice may be kinda late.

    Micro BR, freaking excellent.
I use it for all my recording, which i do quite a bit of. All 'garage' stuff (by that i mean it's literally done in a garage) with mics and stuff hooked upto a mixer then plugged in via a 'Line In' on the 4-track.

If it's just for straight plugging in, of a bass or something, then agian it's damn good for that too. plus if you want to mess about there's a load of fx and amp modelling available.

I haven't ever used the rhythm on it but i imagine it'd be good given the quality of the rest of it.

Only problem is that it can go through batteries quite quickly, so either use rechargeables or get a PSU (costs a bit but it's worth it to save buy loads of batteries)

    - 32-tracks (8 virtual tracks on each of the 4 tracks)
    - REALLLY easy to use controls but can take a bit of time to use due to having to flick through options
    - Built in condenser that's pretty good quality but not absolutely amazing
    - Line In and 3/4" input (so all you could want i'd imagine) plus the 'Line In' can provide 2.5V plug in power

    It's just generally really good.

If you want an example of recordings then check out.

    www.myspace.com/thepagansspace

Deadcat Blues was done using mics hooked upto a mixer hooked into the 4-track (using the "Line In")

    Hope this helps someone.

(i can't comment on other recording devices cause they has been all i've ever had to use, i'd say it's probably as good if not better than them though)

  4.
MB1. ;)
Ash Saks just put his swimming trunks on and grabbed a towel! :P
I forgot my trunks and couldn't find the pedals.

    Damn it.

  5.
I'll get it sent over to you first, then we can sort stuff like that out later if necessary.
class.

well i look forward to it.
If i can't get it fixed then i shall repost it so someone else can have a go though, if it's only a small problem then i imagine i can get it fixed.

    thanks again.

  6.
I got the gist mate!

Like I said, needs a bit of work but if you're handy I'm sure it can be resurrected.
i aint particularly but i know a few guys who are a bit handy so they shall be getting a call soon.

And if you want some feedback i'm all for posting it, i dont know what the 'rules of feedback' are

  7.
For the postage (or collection), you can have a Zoom BFX708 Bass Effects processor that's been sat on a shelf next to my wife's flute (not played since school) and some piano books that got donated to me (never opened since I've had them).

I gigged it for a while so it's not in mint condition, I'll post pictures when I work out how.

This is a link to the manual: http://www.zoom.co.jp/archive/English_Manual/E_BFX708.pdf

    It's got a few issues:

the input jack socket is a bit unreliable, I wouldn't gig it without checking out the soldering and all that, you can get intermittent sound from it with a wiggle.

The thing takes 4 AA batteries but the battery cover is long gone.

I think the power input is dodgy too.
Other than that, it seems okay. If you're interested, let me know.
message sent.

  8.
The bass overdrive does indeed sound terrible, a side by side comparison with the Boss one showed them to be near identical, fractionally more hiss with the treble turned past 2o'clock on the Behringer.
one of my friends who play bass bought an overdrive pedal and said it was crap so that has been part of my hesitation against touching them, though from looking on ebay there's some going quite cheaply.
Especially compared to other models, and since i dont really know what fx i'm really looking for to use full time a couple of quid on trying it out first ain't too bad.

  9.
including me ;)

iv had the limiter and the sustainer, both equal to their boss equivilants, and seemed less noisy
really, whoa.
Next time i'm around a guitar shop i shall check if they've got any i can try out.

I'm not really an fx user, as of yet anyway.
Apart from a loop pedal (that's been on order since before christmas) i dont use anything.

    ...not yet anyway

  10.
Hey Ashok,

No offence meant mate, it did indeed take some bottle and you have conducted yourself impeccably.

    "He who dares wins"

I just had to have a dig. Although, I was laughing whilst replying.

Just a heads up for ya, the Biyang range of pedals on Ebay are a givaway for what you spalsh out. Nice n cheap and usable.

Good luck in your quest for the elusive tone.

    Col
no offence taken, when you used to walk around highschool with long frizzy hair that resembled an afro you get worse stuff than that thrown at you.

I'll check them out, i've managed to get about 40 quid together so can now start the hunt.

Does anyone know if Behringer pedals are as awful as their reputation states?
I've used Behringer mixers before but that's all i'd really trust them for...the price being that low just seems wrong

  11.
Indeed but you have to be prepared for the consequences and to be fair you have taken it on the chin.
If i was asking for a spare E string this this'd be over the top but to ask, as your first post, if anyone has any fx pedals to give away is...well yeah something to be laughed at really.

I have in the mean time though been searching on ebay for cheap kit, post christmas and credit crunch is all it took for people to start flogging their whole fx boards cheaply. (not that the financial crisis is a good thing but might as well make the most of it)

  12.
Hi ash, maybe you could ask a luthier to re-radius the neck.
Thanks, i'm gonna get in touch with some guitar repair guys i know.

Just thought i'd check with you lot as many of you seem to make your own stuff and such like.

  13.
Come on guys give the guy a break he obviously thought he would try to get something for nothing but has failed and the responses have been funny but I think we should leave the poor bloke alone.
no harm in trying.

  14.
Dude - forget about the BR, you have a Line 6 amp that has a synth, compressor, envelope filter, octaver, and chorus what else do you need?
True but the synth really really is crap, it hardly responds to most stuff you play.

And the built in fx aint much better.

As for compressors, all you can do is turn it up or down.

  15. Anyone know how to slim down a neck, i have a Fender Jazz style de-fretted bass but the neck's really fat, front to back not across the fretboard.

I was wondering if any of you knew how to thin it down, if that's possible without damaging the bass.

    Thanks.
    Enjoy.

  16.
man you have boss micro br so try and see how the effects sound with your bass and then sell some of the stuff you are not using .
I have tried that and it just got annoying cause the problem with the Micro BR is that you have to flick through quite a few screens to change stuff about whereas compared to having an fx pedal which is much much easier to use.

The BR aint particularly hard to use just very labourious though until i gather some funds that's really the best option going.
(on a plus note though the BR makes a damn good 4-track)

And i would sell some stuff but i still do use all of it, apart from perhaps a mic cable and some spare strings it's all used.

  17.
I suspect he's yanking your chain.
i quite agree but if someone offers you may as well accept.

if they're joking then you aint lost anything.
if they aren't joking then you're sorted

  18.
The reason that the proposed scheme does not meet - and could never meet - the statutory requirements is that the moneys would be construed as being raised for "private gain". Private gain has a much wider definition than that of profit, and irrespective of where and when the lottery/raffle where to be held and drawn, as long as the main purpose is not charitable it would be construed as illegal gaming.
Could it not be done that charity was the purpose, with the bass as the prize and the cost to cover being the 1000 for the bass.
If you define a charity beforehand and actually raise over the 1000 quid then would that be possible?

Though there is the question of how much is classed as a donation to charity given you have 1000 to cover costs. Though i think charities would want any money they can get

  19.
I've got a couple of Lovetone pedals I don't use anymore. Haven't seen them for a while, but if I can dig them out, they're yours ;)
That'd be ace.
I'm looking for anything to play around with whilst i save up some money, then it's a shopping spree on the basschat forums.
