Ha, I just pulled my Ashbory out to show my son yesterday. The first time I saw one of these was in a shop when I was a teenager in the 1980's, so that was probably a Guild. I thought about it for many years since and didn't know what it was called, until in 2004 I was at a local farm where they have rides and shows for kids. Someone had model bass with the silicone strings taped or bolted or somehow affixed to a wood pole so someone could play it as an upright. I snuck a peek at it so I could see the branding and bought one online shortly thereafter, it's a black one with "Ashbory" on the front, like the one in this ad. Nice to have in the collection for something different!

This model (in sunburst) was my first bass, thankfully I never sold it!
