My 77 or 78 (not sure which, but it has an S8 serial number) is a sort of custard yellow, which I assume is (was) Olympic White. I bought it in 1979, I don't ever remember it being any other colour though...

Hate Hades himself!!! Very nice guy, unfortunately the only times I've had to deal with him have been funerals (Mum/Aunt). I don't live up there so not had a chance to see them play classics like Coalville Girls or MILF!!! Will have to combine a trip to see mums old mates with a gig!

I did trawl youtube for their other classic, Piss For Free, sadly it doesn't seem to be uploaded.....

  3. Ok, I can definitely recommend Paul Reno Photography if anyone in the Leicester area needs some pics doing! Even I look half-decent in some of them! I was quite nervous before the shoot, but he made us all feel very relaxed and comfortable within just a few minutes. We actually had a really good time and have more than enough quality pics to make sure it's going to be a fair while before we have to go through it all again!

Here's one of the ones he's sent me so far...

  4. Actually, I've just got home and I think it went quite well.... I'll post a couple of the results on here once I get them.

Paul was pretty good at making us all feel relaxed and had a great imagination when it came to composition and finding interesting backdrops etc. We didn't fancy studio shots, so we went to the area around our rehearsal room which is in a pretty run-down part of Leicester, so lots of graffiti, derelict buildings etc. Hardest part was not giggling and responding to instructions like "grimace a bit" and "look mildly despondent"

Probably ought to wait to see the results before I recommend him, but if anyone in the Leicester area needs any publicity pics, his Facebook page is Paul Reno Photography.

When my mum passed away I dealt with a funeral parlour in Loughborough and got chatting to the chap in there about bands, yup, he is the lead singer in Iron Python! Funeral director by day, wig and make up screaming lead singer by night!!! A right piss take by the looks of it!!

That's my mate Kris, he is indeed the manager of a funeral parlour. That's not me on bass in the video though, I'd left by the time they got round to doing their own songs....

  6. Seeing as we can't play at the minute due to our drummers broken wrist, to keep things ticking over we've organised a photoshoot with a photographer friend today.

Weird thing is, I'm actually getting quite nervous about it, much more than I ever get before a gig (pre gig nerves have never been an issue for me) It's not like anything hangs on it, it's just a way of keeping the interest going while we're on an enforced break for a few weeks. Even so, I'm getting jittery and the butterflies are starting to go a little bit mad!

Anyone else get like this in front of a camera?

  7. Sounds like someone needs a wireless kit, and to get out in the room at soundcheck... If the drums aren't mic'd, you should all be playing to their level. If he can't hear himself when it's all good in the room, he needs better monitoring. Could be that if he's out front and you're standing right next to your rig, that you are too loud and you're not in "The cone" ie, the bass goes past your knees? So you turn up til you can hear it but by then it's too loud further away.

Also bear in mind that a lot of singers are like a lot of guitarists, in that they think they should be louder than everyone else because they're the star!

  8. I find it quite interesting that lots of people think it necessary to take a spare (quality or otherwise) bass to a gig, but very few have said they take a spare amp. I'd be much more worried about an amp breaking than a bass (even one of my cheap, crap ones)
Especially as the advice dished out on here in every "which amp?" thread is always "buy second hand, you'll get much more for your money"

So, many of the people who only use expensive basses because they're more "reliable" quite often advise others to buy second hand amps...
