Oh....4 threads for Fender
-
Hi, folks. I see lots of people like Fender. I also play Fender. They are good instruments indeed , but are they really good like that? Sometimes i think people are blind.... I come from east. In my country, nearly 80% of the people like Fender. They think Fender bass is the real sound of bass. (I think the reason why they think so is Fender invented first electric bass) Usually, people look down on other brands of basses. Once they saw an american fender, they'd say:"Beautiful, gorgeous, sounds great.....etc ". Even some of them haven't really played it...... I thought there are many other good basses, such as Warwick, ESP(Japan Mode), Rickenbacker, Lakland, Schecter, Gibson or Ibanez(Prestige) etc.....so many......Some of them i think are better than Fender. They have good design, high quality wood, also their own sounds. But the situation is, lots of people in my country would ignore all these facts and think they are overpriced. In contrast, for example, when people saw a Fender Relic, they'd say:"Undisputable masterpiece!" Well....some one said:"If you really like bass, you must love Fender, because vintage Fender is inornate. Others? You buy them for image. They are superficial." But i'd say there are a large group people who buy Fender for image......for vintage and inornate image. Don't you think so? For example, P bass has a wide neck, it is sure a little bit wide for eastern people, but most of them told me they feel comfortable......I can't trust this. I think they really buy it for image, they feel proud of owning a Fender Bass. They treat this as a proof of good taste..... People buy Fender, cuz lots of legend musician play Fender. Well, my opinion is: they didn't have too many choices at that time, there were not so many basses like today. Overall. I think Fender is great, but not like they said. Fender has drawbacks, the noise, the vintage bridge, the structure is not perfect. No offend, but i think Fender has become a blind faith to some extent.... Don't you think so?

Haha, one of the most notorious Bass........not even balanced.....But really beautiful. I've heard that the neck dive problem has been solved from 2009. Really?

Can anybody tell me what is street price? Let's take a Gibson T-bird as an example. First, half year ago, i saw one in GAK, the price is 1200 pounds. Then, one month ago, i saw the same one in a guitar shop, the price is 999. After that, one man with Gibson T-bird told me the street price is about 800..... Finally, i checked the Thomann, the price is 1400?! And the Nikki Sixx signature mode, 1300. The signature mode is cheaper? Why there is such a big difference in price? Quite confused.....

Still For Sale. Fender Vintage 62 Reissue OPW (Price Droped)
No disrespect intended big cat but the price may not be the only reason that your bass isn't attracting buyers. There is 'probably' a small target audience of BCers who could collect your bass if they were interested. If I were in the market for a P bass and I didn't live in N Ireland, I'd have to think twice before parting with funds to a foreign student in Belfast who is strapped for cash! Harsh I'm afraid but true. As an alternative to advertising on here, there must be a local music scene/circuit where you can advertise the bass, or possibly at Uni? There'll also be local rehearsal spaces where you can put an ad up for the bass. Of course if the price for your bass was tempting enough there'd probably be a few folk on here who might be prepared to take a punt and pay via PayPal. Good luck selling the bass and with your studies.
Thank you very much for the advice. I will try what you said. My money has been stolen. A considerable sum of... I'm bloody unlucky..... -

Ok, everybody. You know the sound of this baby. The only drawback to me is the neck is a little bit thick for me. I quite like this bass, really vintage. But i have to sell this beauty. Which is sad. I am a foreign student. I came across problem with my tuition fee. The local students pay GBP 3000 one year, i have to pay GBP8500 for one year. Its my last year in UK. Due to an recent accident, there is not much money in my bank account. I have to sell this bass for my tuition fee. It's 2 months old, without any marks on it. It is never used to gig or even rehearsal, only practiced in my dorm. just like a new one. I paid GBP1150 for it. I'm looking for GBP 900. I know there is a 3TB one also in good condition which is sold at 750. But please understand, i really lack money now. I'd appreciate if you don't bargain with me. I'm Belfast based, it would be great if you can pick it since i don't know the postage for this baby, i have never sold anything in UK before. Not familiar with the post service here. Cash or Pay Pal would be great. The bass come with original hard case, pickup cover PS: Please forgive me that i can not give you the strap and the cable. I'm poor now......i need them Thanks for your interests. Anybody used Seymour Duncan SJB1 and SJB3? What is the main difference? I want to put one of them in my Fender Jazz Bass. Any other suggestions? Cheers
-
Hi. Have any body tried to custom bass yourself? I don't have a Jazz bass. So i want to custom a black one. I'm thinking about replacing the neck with a Graphite one and change the Pick ups with a pair of Seymour Duncan SJB1. How do you think about it? What type of Jazz bass would you recommend for me? A Mex fender or should i go for a MIA standard? Do not want to spend too much since no experience on custom Cheers
Says it on their site mate, why didn't you just have a look?
Yeah, i saw. I just want to know are they closed forever?

Well. I think the sound fits for something hard but not heavy. Quite powerful Bass(As a Fender), you can use the active switch as a boost. Easy to play. The downside is sometimes there are noise. MIJ, Very cool.

Heard they are not trading anymore. Is it true? Too bad.....
-
Always be reluctant to use a signature mode. Doesn't feel like ur own bass
It's probably going to cost like a Corvette Standard (around 700€, which is, yeah, about £600). Maybe something less. It's not such a prime position, really, since a Tribute's gonna cost less, a Cort Artisan likewise. It's comparing to a MIJ Fender, I think. Probably the most important factor are going to be the pickups and the preamp, the way I see it. If they're going to be any good, it will probably be a good buy, otherwise many people will steer towards the Gibson Studios
Dude, i think they are just about 400-500 pounds cuz a Gibson one cost 800-900 pounds now.
There's a real ex-Entwistle Status one for sale on Statii.com. One of John's own basses. Owner wants in excess of $20,000!
That's similar to the price of a 1964 Gibson T-bird i saw in Japan

Saw it on the Warwick official website. Is it the 2003 reissue version? I heard they were limited to 50 copies. So all the Buzzard JE basses that Warwick is selling now are all made in 2003? Are they going to increase in value? Can't play like John, but respect him a lot. Consider to add one for collection.

Anybody tried it? Want some reviews
The company that made them before Epiphone was called Orville which was basically Gibson Japan. The quality control was much higher and personally speaking I think these Japanese models were much better build wise than the Gibson USA models.
Yean, they are very good, the Gibson one is overpriced. IMO.....
