what ever happened to this bass ?
Well...
I actually just finished sanding the body. That has to be some new kind of record, maybe, but all is continuing as planned. Hahahah. -
If you are planning on doing a lot of painting,
I doubt it - given that it's taken me a year to sand one body.
Will check out whether the Fender colours are available in a suitable liquid form first. Shame to miss out on a bargain but if I goes the same way as the other tools I bought when they were cheap (i.e. never used) then it might not be worth picking one up.
Oh, and cheers iCastle for the rag+spirit tip. -
Work commencing on the Peavey restoration project I started last year (and didn't do much of due to British weather); and I'm at the stage of priming and painting the body. I was just going to use spray cans (saw some "special" Fender color ones online) but came across this in my local PoundSaver and wondered if it'd be a better option.
What do you think?
Also, a dumb question for you: I've sanded the body but if you touch it then there's plenty of dust/paint particles etc. still on there. What's a good way of cleaning all this stuff off? Didn't want to take a wet rag to the thing with it being untreated wood.
Cheeeers. -

To the plus one! Love her bass playing.
Let's see here... for man reasons - Doris from Chthonic...
And for a bass lesson... Ol' Harry

The Esh Stinger. Not a doubt in my mind... if the whole street went up in flames, I'd save that bass and lock it away safely in my car before I even thought about going back to save my elderly neighbours.
Well, there ya go, Platinum series were at the bottom part of the barrel, no disrespect, in fact, at one point the Platinums were made out of Plywood
Disrespect away. I already slagged off my own guitar so the doors are wide open. I can't remember any of the other BCRs I played being any better - but there's a good chance they were also the cheap(er) sh*t.
I'll be sure to try the NJ Deluxe basses at some point then. Cheers bud. -
Depends what series Warlock bass
Let's see this wonderful Warlock guitar then
Lol. Well, all joking aside, I have nothing against BC Rich and would quite like a Warlock bass. Which of the bass series are good at the minute?
I think it's a platinum series Warlock guitar. Must have been 1997 when I bought it (new). No photos but if I get time later I'll post a few up. -
I learned an EP... does that count?
-
+1 on Robick. Little bit fiddly to setup accurate short loops, but it does work well. And even has a little bit of an eq in there which can help hear that bass.
Cheers Gaf, I bought it on your suggestion (£1.79) and am very happy. -
I'm not gonna waste my time defending B.C.Rich basses to the hoards of Fender/Gibson fanboi's, leaves more great basses for us that know what a BCR really is, and have actually played one or more
Is it now safe to buy a Warlock bass? To match the Warlock guitar I still have from my teens... which I never played much... because it was crap. Presumably it still is, unless a decade+ of sitting in a gig bag has improved it. If memory serves I spent most of the time borrowing my girlfriend's hideous red guitar... which might have been a Charvel.
Disclaimer:
Just because I don't like any BC Rich gear I've actually played doesn't mean they're not perfect for others. Don't hate me for having [s]taste[/s] opinions. -
Bernie Rico Jr. custom stuff seems to be huge in the Djent scene at the moment.
What is Djent?
(I'm old now. Don't listen to any metal that wasn't released on vinyl). -
BC Richs (especially the cheap ones, which seems to be the bulk of the range);
I can't remember them being in fashion any time in the last 10 years.
But once upon a time they were everywhere in metal. Shame they were crap, I quite liked the brand. -
Would you trade it for my soul?
Lovely bass. -
Hmm... inspirational thread.
I'm putting my failure to join a band (or for a recently joined band to last more than two weeks) down to my lack of hat. Sod the DI box... time to invest in some headgear. -
Thanks for coming to see us. I hope you had as good a time as we did!
Absolutely mate. We both loved it! Hope to catch you playing again soon. -
MusicStudio is one of the most amazing midi sequencers you'd ever try. Works great even on old iPhones; and they're due to release an update soon which will then also allow the recording of audio tracks.
-
Awwwww I want one!!! This thing is cool.
-
Don't have the money to buy it, so feel free not to answer. But what is it? Never seen a bass like this before - do you play it upright or like a guitar?
-
Now you just need to head on down to the 'Basses for sale section' and spend the extra available money wisely.
Don't tempt me... -
And you couldnt have put this up last week when I happened to be in London!?!?! Git!
Very kind of you to give this away. Some cockney is going to think it's christmas. -
Me_Tall - is in fact a style/groove adopted by over seven foot tall African tribal Musicians,
Aaaahh. Why am I so ignorant!?!
And what's the point of paying someone to teach me if they leave out big pieces of information like this!?!?! Cheers Lowdown. You're a star! -
You've spelled Metal wrong in the drop-down box on the loop search on the front page. Not being picky - but it's like having visible snot in your nose, I would prefer someone told me than spend the whole day unaware.
Cool idea - I'll spend some proper time on there as soon as I can.
Painting question...

Hahahaha. That's true.
