Total Watts

1. Hey, I've been having some problems with crackling noises (and the sound cutting down to a very low volume) on and off with my nearly new Aguilar amp rig (bought new late last year). Aguilar AG 500 SC Head Aguilar DB 112 Cab I've tried 3 basses (2 active, 1 of them with a new battery), various cables etc. and the problem persists. An audio example is attached. Any ideas?
2. Hi, I need a Speakon to Speakon cable to connect an Aguilar AG500SC amp head to an Aguilar DB112 cab. I've gotten confused looking at all the options, impedence, ohms etc. I'm trying to prevent a situation where I destroy the new arrivals with the wrong cable (physically or sound wise). Does it even matter - will any Speakon work? http://www.aguilaramp.com/gfx/products_det...0sc_back_lg.jpg - "Minimum Lead: 4 ohms" ? Thanks.
3. I was there on the Monday night! Does anybody know what bass her bassist was playing? It looked like a light natural wood finished jazz bass without a scratchplate.

5. This seems to coincide with the fashion at the moment for ridiculous jeans that have a similar distressed look. And not in any sort of good way that you imagine. Usually they end up making the person look like they've crapped themselves due to discoloured patches on the back of the legs! Or the horrible bleachy patterns all over. Ergh!
6. Most basses look horrible to me, including a lot of home-made designs. Jazzes and Thumbs (and most Warwicks) are about the only ones I like.
7. Well a CR4M is more than 2 and a half times the price of a Wav4. My bass is in like new condition because it's been kept in the corner of my smoke-free studio literally untouched except a few times. It still has the original strings. That's why I want to sell it - because I need the money and i'm not doing it justice.

Muse Bass Sound
Hi, thanks for the replies. Is a bass synth the same as a MIDI keyboard synth? Can you actually create sounds for example using sine and square waves?? Or is the bass synth pre-programmed and you just select a sound? Rgds AM
I believe on the record it is a mixture of real bass and synth playing the same line. As for your question about bass synths* - it's a question with an open answer. Any synth could be used as a bass synth (ie. play in the C1 range or whatever). Some synths are more suited for basses though. Moog Little Phatty (or most other Moog synths such as the Minimoog). The Little Phatty is also good for lead lines: http://www.moogmusic.com/littlephatty/?sec...;product_id=227 http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=9hufwMENvhI&...feature=related Moog also made a dedicated bass pedal synth: Taurus : http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=frRx-AOZYvg A great site for exploring classic synths: http://www.vintagesynth.com/index.html There are a million software synthesisers too. There is a whole niche that replicate hardware (ie. the Minimonsta is based on the Minimoog). Some people say the sound doesn't compare the hardware, but the quality of softsynths has got to a point where it's pretty amazing and hard to tell (mostly depends on your settings and mixing of the track to get a good sound). Try sites like http://www.kvraudio.com or http://www.soundonsound.com * Remember there's a difference between a hardware synth (makes sound) and a MIDI keyboard controller (which often doesn't make sound itself but can be used to play softsynths or hardware synths - ie. rack versions like my Nord Lead 2X synth).
9. It's more for music tech but Dolphin Music are good - they stock basses etc. too. Or Digital Village. Thomann used to be good, but their prices are out now that Sterling has collapsed compared to the Euro.
10.
NS CR4M it 'isn't' then!
It's a really nice playable upright. If I had the CR4M, I'd probably be sipping champagne and swinging from my £500,000 chandelier!
11.
They have Ovangkol/Wenge necks as opposed to Maple/Rosewood, and they are made in germany. I've seen a few 4 string ones go for £200-250, but I say hold onto it for the time being, since the market sucks.
Yeah, probably a good call. I might not sell music gear unless there is a good reason (ie. really need the money). It needs a setup and some new strings so I might just do that.
12. Hi, I've got a Warwick Streamer Standard 5-String, with single pickup in red. I got this years back before the Rockbass models came out. I just wondered how much this is worth? People will probably assume that it's just a Rockbass, but I think it might have nicer wood etc. I can't find mention of it in my searches, which is odd! EDIT: Hold the phones... http://www.hartnollguitars.co.uk/products.asp?id=3342 - is that a realistic price? Should I even sell it?!
13. I was looking at the Thomann prices which is more than £850 (usually the cheapest but I guess that's taken a hit since Sterling collapsed against the Euro). How about offers around £600-650 then? And there's no such model as the NS Wav CR4M (take the Wav bit out for the high-end models!).
14. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=tKCwH3amLaU Hehe, there's a whole bunch of these, mainly for guitarists.
15. Hi, I'm selling my Ned Steinberger (NS) Wav4 Electric Upright Bass (in red), which includes stand and gig bag. The bass is in excellent condition, exactly as I received it new. I just haven't had the time to dedicate to learning this beast and it needs a good home. Looking for offers around the £600-650 mark. My location is near Bath, south-west. I'll get some pictures up tomorrow if desired.
