  1. Good idea Lawrence. If anyone has a 70's Mustang could they possibly measure the pickups for me? I need the length of the part of the cover that comes through the hole in the scratchplate and also the centre to centre measurement of thread adjuster holes. Also if anyone with a reissue Mustang could do the same I would be most grateful. My 76 Mustang has a scratchplate hole length of 40.5mm and a centre of hole to hole measurement of 49mm The new pickup cover measures 43.5mm and 51mm respectively. Thanks a lot Richard
  2. I've just had a pair of Fender Mustang plastic pickup covers arrive from Seymour Duncan to fit onto my "new" 1976 Mustang bass. Only thing is they don't fit. They are about 3mm too long. The adjusting bolt holes don't line up and they won't fit through the pickguard. Am I to presume from this, that the reissue Fender mustang basses have slightly longer pickups than original mustangs? I don't want to start filing my pickguard to make them fit but even then the height adjustment bolts won't go in. Looks like I'm back to square one.
  3. I'm still trying to identify my Bass amp. I removed the amp and there is nothing inside to identify it at all and I've removed the speaker and found it to be a Fane. Have searched Google and Ebay for similar looking(incl suggested makes) amps/combos but nothing similar.
  4. Hi I'm in the process of buying a Mustang bass on which the 2 plastic pickup covers are missing. Does anyone know where I can get some from? I've seen precision and jazz bass ones available but not Mustang ones. Thanks Richard
  5. Thanks for the replies From what you've all said I will go for a Mustang bass. Cheers Richard
  6. Would I be better off buying a Fender Mustang reissue bass new for around £399 or an old Fender Musicmaster which seem to go for around the same sort of money. Which is the better bass? I've got a Squire Bronco at the moment and would like to upgrade to something decent. i've noticed the mustang bridge has more adjustment. Is there much diference in sound between the two? Thanks
  7. Hi Is the musicmaster still available? How much do you want for it and whereabouts are you? Thanks Richard
  8. Thanks for the swift replies most helpfull Cheers Richard
  9. Hi Will a Squier Bronco bass neck fit straight onto a Fender Mustang or Musicmaster bass body? (seen a "loaded" body for sale and would like to use it whilst looking for a correct neck) Thanks
  10. Thanks for the replies I may have a look inside. Is there likely to be a nameplate in there? The chap selling reckoned it was a peavey or carlsbro but from what you've both said it appears he's wrong. Cheers Richard
