Fully serviced last christmas used 4 or 5 times since then works perffectly.
The stickers in the photos are my settings.

4.
Mmm,so they both do it? Have you tried through another head/cabs and removing all effects?
T be fair the second bass collection is no problem as its passive

but the active one has s much better range of tones so I prefer it

5. I am using a couple of 1990s Bass collection active 4 string bases for gigging. A gt6B for compression and effects with the preamp turned off a peavey Tmax 500 watt head and two of the new lightweight Trace elliot 1 x15s. Usually unless its a very big venue I do not go through the PA. I use the guitar with eithet the P bass pickup or a mix of the p and j pickups.

My problem is that I find the bass E string gets very boomy and feedsback and to control it I have to back off the active bass control on the guitar thus making the bass sound a liitle thin. I have tried reducing the input gain and it had no effect. I have used the in built EQ and dialed up the miserable face ): like I used to do on my Trace head but I still have the boomy string problem.

Any suggestions

Please can you PM me as I am out setting up a PA for a festival and Pms come to my phone I have a gig Monday so I would like to try some ideas out before then

6. I have a fondness for all things 1980s particularly pointy headed guitars. Any way I just got an absolutely battered charvel 2b 4 string bass that looks the dogs BUT there is one problem the nut has slid sidewase a few millimeteres because the G string doies not run in a straight line.

So what do I use to glue a nut down Ita brass nut direct onto the headstock and touching the end of the fretboard. I have glued it twice with bostick and it has jut slowly slid across again

7. I have recently started playing a 5 string

I find the B string very sloppy very prone to fret rattle difficult to tune (i have to fret it on the 5 th fret and tune it to E)

the set that are on are stadium elites 40 60 80 100 120

how caqn I get a bit more tension in My B would a different brand of string be better

To be fair the elites were relatively cheap but not as good as the d addarios I have on my 4 stringers

the scale is 34 inches

8. Bought two Trace cabs (which I absolutely love--earth shattering) Great communication throughout.

Top bloke to deal with, would recommend him to anyone to deal with.

Cheers Steve

9. I have recently aquired an old Charvel 2B bass (it looks the part in a new 80s metal band I am putting together)

the tailpiece is a jackson which llooks abit like a badass. Anyway the intonation screws which are all 40mm long and look to be about 2 mm in diameter are all chewed up at the end where you put the allen key.

So where can I buy the replacement intonation screws or will I have to change the whole bridge unit

10.
I really think basschat needs a rule like talkbass that we don't disucss deals gone bad (personal or commercial).
Why ?

I see no logic in what you say.

11.
Is it USA made ? I'd hazard a guess at £600 to start off, although to someone it's rarity and condition might add more value.
Its japanese it the same bass Duff Mcagen uses with the all black jazz neck with black headstock

12. Hi

I have a Fender Jazz bass special (its the one in my Avatar) passive 1984

A friend of mine who does not play the bass bought it brand new from a guitar shop which was going bankrupt about 20+ years ago.

It is mint unused apart from it hung on a hook in the shop and has worn a small patch at the back of the lower point thought to the wood about the size of a 1p piece there is also a slight dent there.

I swapped it for a strat about 6 months ago. It comes in the original c and g case with a scratchplate and screws that has never been fitted.

I have played in the house only but I find it too big and bulky after my bass collections.

So what is it worth if I was to sell it what should I ask for a cash sale. Or what sort of bass guitar would I trade it against.

13. HI folks

having a clearout of my backup kit which i do not use much anymore

This is a kustom Groove 1200 watt head in a 2u rackcase. Theses were £600 when they came out. They have just been replaced by the 1300 watt version.

It does 1200 watts at 2 ohms
700 watts at 4 ohms
450 watts at 2 ohms

Its in good condition everything works fine and it sounds pretty good very neutral it does not colour the sound at all. Very loud I ran it through 600 watts worth of trace elliot speakers this afternoon and it sounded monstrous. Heres the spec:

RMS Wattage: 1200 Watts @ 2-Ohms
Input Configuration: Active/Passive Selector
EQ: Bass, Mid and High w/ Shift
Master EQ: 9-Band Active
Gain Control: Yes
Master Control: Yes
Additional Functions: Mute/Boost/Tuner Output
Effects Loop: Send & Return
Output Connectors: Speak-On
Footswitch: Mute/Boost
Dimensions: 3.5H x 19W x 15.5D
Dimensions (mm): 89H x 483W x 390D
Weight: 31 lbs/ 14 kg

I will let it go for £160 or I will chuck in a 450 watt emminence loaded 1 x15 to get you up and running for £200 the lot. You may notice I have a Trace Elliot head listed as well. These are both backup amps I only need one so whatever sells first the other will be withdrawn.

Read the reviews on these on Harmony Central or BGRA thats what I did when I bought it these are very reliable because they are rarely working hard and well made kit.
skez any trade considered

14. I thought the SMX had a compressor this does not have the compressor it is earlier than that.

I have used the DI over the last couple of years at outdoor festival gigs and big indoor gigs and never had a problem so it may be the mod was done before I got it or it mnay be that this model did not need a mod .

I have had loads of trace stuff and all the later stuff have a chrome cage surrounding the cooling fan whereas the ealiest stuuf has the cooling fan in the chassis with just slits to let the air through. That is how this is.

http://s639.photobucket.com/albums/uu114/J...=DSCF0013-1.jpg

the fact is though its a good quality 250 watt head which I have used for numerous gigs without any issues for £200
