ACTIVE 3 BAND PREAMP FROM BASS COLLECTION JAZZ BASS
just had this removed and replaced with a john east
i know nothing about it
BUT I have owned loads of bass collection basses and i have never come across one with a 3 band eq so i suspect this is an after market fit
Any way it works its ok and the price includes the jiffy bag and postage
-
NOT PREPARED TO POST THESE SO COLLECTION ONLY
BUT
I am prepared to accept offers on these two items
-
-
Gramma pad in zip up bag. The pad is 59cm x 39cm.
collection from mid staffordshire

OK I had a BG250 combo used for practise and low key rehersals complete with padded cover
The amplifier stopped working. The electronics company who attempted to repair it removed the amp from the combo. The power amp was dead. TCE wanted £70 for the power stage. IAs I was not using it for gigs I have a RH750 I did not get it repaired and for the next 12 months I used the amp head as a DI and headphone amplifier because apart from the power amp everything still works.
The cab i used as a 2 x 8 top cab with my RS210
ok so you can have the lot for £90 or the amp for £40 and the cab for £60
The black gaffa on the amplifier is to cover up the 6 large mounting holes where it was screwed to the cabinet
both items are cosmetically good no rips in the tolex. the pictures are not great.
all collected form mid staffordshire
make me an offer for both or either

its fantastic the electrics are way better than the rubbish in my 3 bass collections
and the 35 inch scale means the B string is useable
BUT my first bass was a bass collection in about 1990
having owned in the past 5 bass collections
and currently owning 3 identical 5 string jazz basses i do like the necks the balance and the physical feel
BUT i need cash to upgrade the pickups and pre amps
-
this is the same spec as the the neck through with the EMG pickups and pre amp
i have been told its called the spector legend 5 custom bolt neck
-
i do not have a precision but i do have a aerodyne pj for sale
-
i think i used to own this about 7 or 8 years ago
-
reduced to £380 reduced again to £320
SPECTOR LEGEND 5 CLASSIC plus MADE IN KOREA (the plus has the emg pickups and preamp and gold fittings)
this is an early model possibly a limited edition
which features EMG HZ pickups and the EMG B30 preamp
The current legend 5 classic comes with spector pickups and a 2 band spector preamp
This is a step up from that with the emg pickups and preamp.
you can see the difference as it has the stacked bass and treble controls.
you can find this model if you google it. I got it off here from naxos10.
the only real mark on it is shown in the pictures
i have added a gig bag and a new set of elites and am asking pretty well what it cost me.
I have a love affair with 3 x 5 string bass collections which all need new pickups and preamps
-
Oh and the other reason i want to go passive is that the preamp in this guitar i really dislike the sound
but what are the best pickups
-
I have decided to make one of the three 5 string bass collections that i own into a passive bass
because
i have 3
i quite like passives basses my two fenders are passive jazzes
my first bass collection was a passive 4 string and it sounded great (good pickups)
so who make the best passive jazz bass pickups ???????

The Delanos I have in my Bass Collection are JMVC5FE . They are completely silent and a massive improvement over the original SGC Nanyo pickups.
Pete I assume the delanos went in without any wood carving. can you check the measurments of them for me
I have had delanos on a p bass and really liked them

firstly I would like to thank basschatters for the posts of advice they have made.
secondly thanks to Andy and bass bunny for the phone calls
for all the pickup experts here
the dimensions of both pickups the bass are collection pickups are 94mm long
18mm wide
and the lug centres are 40mm

thanks guys for all your contributions.
I have had two passive 4 string bass collections
and four active 5 string bass collections.
I currently have 3 active 5 string bass collections the jazz bass style with the brass nut
they all have different preamps but as i acquired them secondhand I do not know if any or all are original. I gig one of them most of the time
I am not sure why they are all a bit noisy when i try to use any of the pickups individually. not massive noise you would not notice it on a gig but you would in a studio.
for absolutely silent use I use a spector with emgs and the emg B340 3 band preamp.
THe build quality on the bass collections i think is really good and I would like to upgrade the electrics and or pickups if possible
-
this is where i need the advice
are all jazz bass pickups the same size
I was hoping to find a luthier with the relevant experience
the current preamp is 4 knobs which are fixed rigid to a printed circuit board so i was looking to replace it with another 4 knob preamp
its a 2 band with volume and pan

I use a 5 string active bass collection for most of the gigging I do. I am very pleased with the bass generally BUT
I would like to upgrade the pickups and the pre amp as the pickups are a bit noisy when used individually ok when both on.
I live in staffordshire and need a good luthier who does this work and can advise me OR HOPEFULLY ADVICE ON HERE
I spoke to two local luthiers who would change the pickups if i got the new ones but both said it was up to me to find the pre amp.
so where do i go to find the gear and the advice
