    Bullet point responses.

A Warwick won't make you sound like any of their endorsees or make you play better.  Tonally, I wouldn't compare anything on You Tube with a real life experience. Tonewood?  Growl?

If you want a frankly fantastic NS bass, just buy a Spector Euro model.

I was trying to be a bit tongue in cheek 😌

  2. Hey Warwick owners. Just wondering whether there’s anyone near Colchester who might own a streamer stage 1 or a thumb that might let me have a noodle. Would like to try before I buy.

So I'm interested in buying a Warwick. Either a Thumb or a Streamer SS1. There's one of each currently for sale that look around the right money, reputable sellers etc BUT they're  both around a 2 hour drive from me (in different directions).

Full disclosure is that I want a Streamer or a thumb based on the usual, super important and logical GAS reasons:

    • they look really cool!
    • They'll make me play and sound like Stuart Zender/Jack Bruce/any other fabulous Warwick endorsee!
    • They sound great on all those YouTube reviews
    • They use only the best tone woods
    • They produce that legendary Warwick growl (whatever that is!)
    • I don't have one
    • Did I mention they look really cool!

What I've never actually done of course  is play either! I did have a 5 string Corvette, but these are different beasts.

Now I don't fancy driving 2 hours X 4  to find I don't actually like em, so I'm wondering whether there's anyone in my locality (Colchester and surrounding) who has either of these who would be happy for a fellow basschatter to have a noodle on it to find out if he really does want to part with a load of cash for either of aforesaid basses.

And then it occurred to me that this could be something that Basschatters might be happy to offer generally. I know that I would be ok with the occasional visit to try my gear.

Interesting seeing as James Brown is seen as the main force behind what came to be known as funk. Apparently Cold Sweat was the first funk tune. Not my words however.

Although some say it’s Hercules by Aaron Neville. Cracking bassline!

The tuner in the Stomp is excellent in my experience, I just don’t want to waste a switch on it in this setup. I have space for an external tuner, so why not.

    Si

I’m guessing you already know you can activate the tuner by pressing "Action" and "Page >" buttons together?

In that case use the method above to prune your mailing list down to under 500 addresses so you can take advantage of the free MailChimp service. IME all of the other free services simply aren't worth bothering with.

A big plus 1 for Mailchimp.

That is the movement detection, you can turn that off in the app (but remember after updating it to plug the sender into the headphones for it to update).

    How to change it:

Start "BOSS TONE STUDIO for WAZA-AIR" app.

    Tap "≡ (SYSTEM)."

    Tap "STANDBY SETTING."

Change the TRANSMITTER'S STANDBY SENSING to "SOUND SENSING."
    - If MOTION SENSING is specified, the transmitter is in standby mode unless it senses vibration, and cannot be used.

Reconnect the transmitter to the transmitter in of the WAZA-AIR unit, and perform the Auto Wireless Connection operation.

    Thanks for the heads up!

As has been said it's the Boss Waza Air headphone system. Just the best things ever.

Agreed but when I try and do what you’re doing, but with a Stomp, they cut out after a few minutes. It’s like they don’t think anything is going on and go into sleep mode. Presumably that’s doesn’t happen with the ME-90B?

Thought this seemed a bit of a bargain. The seller also has another stingray and a jazz for sale.

As per his description I messaged with an enquiry and was told it had sold.
it’s still listed so not sure what the point is here. I guess it’s some sort of scam but wonder how it works.

There should be one in fairly soon at Bass Direct, they seem to be punting them out as fast as they get them in.

Looks like Peach have one in stock again as I write this. Even if it goes, it’s worth getting in touch with them to see when they expect more. The price is very competitive!

    • Thanks 1
  11. So around the time of the last message in this thread I contacted Peach to see if they had more stock due. As I mentioned earlier every other stockist was more expensive and no-one seemed to have any stock anyway. Peach replied to say they did, in a week or so, and would let me know when they were in. I was away last week when they contacted me so couldn’t get to them until Friday. On Wednesday the site showed 3 in stock (at £597). By Thursday the green one went. On Friday morning, just before I boarded my flight, there  was only one left. I landed at lunchtime and checked and the last one had gone. Still I thought I would go anyway as I had an appointment and thought at least id get to try one. When I arrived all was well. The chap with whom I had been communicating had actually put on order in to stop it being sold! Tried the bass and loved it so I’m now the delighted owner of one of these - at a great price - thanks to some great service from Peach guitars.

  12. I too enjoyed it but was slightly miffed that it wasn’t quite what the trailers portrayed which seemed more about the birth of the British ska scene.

Enjoyed the acting though. Especially Lady Mary Crawley as the alcoholic mum with the voice of an angel!

It's funny how a small thing like a non curved body where your forearm meets it (I tend to play quite far forward - pluckng in front of the neck pickup) can become an issue. Well, it does for me anyway, but perhaps I'm overly fussy.

Personally, I find this can make playing uncomfortable. Which is a shame, as surely it would cost next to nothng to round it off. If be tempted to sand it down a bit myself but it'd look a mess.

This is one of the things that worries me. I like the look of it and the spec etc and the reviews are all pretty good but can't get hold of one locally to try. Peach can order one but it's a 20% non-returnable deposit for an order.

  14. I had my eye on one of these from Peach guitars. They had 2 in stock but they both apparently sold today. Priced at £597 I’m not really surprised. Oh well, need to wait until they start appearing second hand.

Truth is I’d probably realise yet again the 5 strings are not for me and put it up for sale within a couple of months 😂

Will look forward to the Dood’s review to see what I missed.

Anyone using the MarkBass LM iv ?

I’m using an LM3 and love it! Up till now with a 4 ohm 2x10 traveller cab but just acquired a 4x10 standard cab from a basschatter which moves significantly more air! I’m just down the road from you if you wanted to try it. Second hand they’re around £350 I think.
