I don't have any unlined basses, but my shamisen (the thing I'm playing in my profile photo) has no markings at all, except for a couple of dots I've put at the equivalent of the 5th and 12th fret positions.

Since I've been playing without fret markers, I've found that my ability to find my way around the neck on fretted instruments has really improved: I have a better innate understanding of intervals now.

I was going to put a dot at 12, but 12 and 5 sounds like a really good idea.

I was just going to put a dot of nail polish, so I could scratch it off if I decide later.

Any fretless can be set up to do the mwah thing. Usually a combination of cutting the nut slots deeper and less relief. Don't overdo it with the truss rod though, or you'll choke the notes.

I have my Pbass and Jack set up for auto-mwah.

roundwounds on all of them help...🤠

  3. The MG (right) is lined. I discovered I don’t like lines.

the Pbass is baked maple no lines no dots.

thunderbird is a conversion and I figured out a way to stain it so it’s lineless,

I’ll go back and make my Hohner Jack lineless/dotless  when I get some spare time.

  4. I still haven't heard back from a guy that can make an explorer body, if it takes too long I'll just get a non-reverse, and be done with it.  I'll have reversed pickups as well.

So besides the pickups, I also found a chrome hipshot bridge, so the next one is going all chrome hardware.  I can't find the tiger neckplate in silver and I really like it, so it may get a gold tiger neckplate.  Maybe white pickguard and pickup covers?

I think I'll order a warmoth neck, reverse tele headstock, 21 frets, purpleheart neck and fretboard. I'll semi match the color of the purpleheart for the body.

I'm seriously considering a rosewood/rosewood reverse tele neck for the blue one.

  5. I am taking to getting necks made for my project guitars, I am ordering the 21 fret fender style because I like the overhang.

On a mudbucker equipped Pbass, I had to trim it back a bit to clear the pickup.

Makes neck adjustments harder too, but I think it looks cooler.

I don't need more than 5 frets unless I'm noodling.

    I have a couple 24+ fret git-basses too.

  6. I'm starting my next project and thought I had an idea of what I wanted for neck material.

The last project I went with Baked Maple for the neck and fingerboard.

The biggest reason I chose it was the fact that it doesn't need finishing.

I'm not a "tonewood" believer so I'm going for looks and ease of use.

I thought I would go with Indian rosewood neck with rosewood fretboard, but the cost is borderline excessive.

I'm leaning toward a purpleheart neck, but I'm not certain on the fretboard.

What are your experiences with different neck woods?

I do have a German Warwick with a wenge/wenge neck but it's not particularly exciting in the looks department.

I’m experimenting with the pedals I have so I added a bunch of drives.

I’m trying to chase down a synth pedal on Craigslist and my DI box arrives this week.

It took 9 days to chase down the synth pedal....

I’m too tired to try the pedal now...
