1. Up for sale or trade (+/- cash) is my beloved Trace Elliot head. Despite the overall versatility of this head (something I'm sure a lot of you will be familiar with) I find myself playing less and less rock music and carrying my gear to more and more practices.

So I'm going lightweight, if anyone wants a trade or trade plus cash either way for stuff a long the lines of markbass then drop me a message.

It's also worth noting the 'pre-Gibson' factor which supposedly makes this head much better then more recent models (including the Peavey ones) I however have never had the opportunity to compare so this is only by word of reviews and the like.

As far as a straight up sale I think a negotiable £350.

*This may well be an AH250 as opposed to AH300- on the back it says '280W RMS - 580W PEAK'. Either way I used to drive the hell out of a 4x10 Trace cab and it was seriously loud - I never, ever went through a PA in a years worth of loud rock gigs

*There are 2 outputs and both are 8 ohm only

    Some good reviews:

And a +1 to them too, the channels for the saddle legs help stability and the whole bridge just seems ''firmer''.
Thanks very much evident Sabbath fan!

  7. I'm probably telling many of you what you already know but I know a lot of players play what they sing so that thier improvised solos in particular get rhythms relatable to vocal lines, when you take breath it leaves pauses etc.

This makes the solo more relatable to instruments that involve your lungs and keeps some players from playing too many notes and never stopping. Finally it encourages you to play in a more melodic fashion, less step wise movement and the like. The nice part is that it actually works!

  8. I have gone ahead and used the wire wool, it works an utter treat! In fact I liked the change so much I then went on to treat my Ibanez with the wool too. I can now feel the neck in a more comforting way, the neck doesn't feel at all sticky and I can zip up and down it with so little resistance I may as well be playing air guitar! It's awesome.

Thank you so much everyone, this has really made a huge difference!

  9.
I have basses fitted with Badass 2, Hipshot, Schaller and Gotoh 201 plus standard Fender bridges.

My current favourites ( on a P-Bass and a Jazz ) are fitted with Gotoh 201 and Badass 2.

When I fit another bass with one it will almost certainly be the Gotoh!

    Will.
So even over the much more expensive Schaller and Hipshot bridges you think you prefer the 201? If so that's good to hear as 201s are available for around £40 as opposed to the £100 for the other two.

  10. Over the last week or so I have been pumping out lots of posts regarding the changes I am making to my Yamaha TRB5 fretless.

Now, when I played a Stingray a while ago I suddenly realised one factor that for me makes the bass a whole lot more playable, is the lack of varnish on the neck. Too me i feel this makes a huge difference and really sets my hands at ease... odd I know...

So I was wondering, how could I DIY the varnish off my bass neck without risking unnecessary damage?

Has anyone else ever done this?

    Thanks everyone :)
