1.
The 1x15 is on hold for benzies123.

Amp and 2x10 are still up for grabs.
There's no need to have it on hold as im still not totally sure... also how does the weight of each cab compare?

Cheers

2.
Benzies, I've got SR1005, if it does the trick...

B string is quite good sounding (erm, at least for my ear), neck feels like going-thru-butter, huge variety of tones (oh, just adjust the Mid Frequency knob a bit - plenty of different basses you got there, mate.. ;) ).

I can't tell, if it sounds too middy (as people sometimes mention, they do), it just sounds punchy to my ear.

Neck thru, rosewood fingerboard, heavy strings (you add 'em yourself, of course..) - it all gives warmth, sustain, punch.

The only thing that dissappointed me was knobs - Treble/Bass knobs broke down after a few months (my Ibby was brand new then), and you can't properly adjust them without pre-amp turning on and off.. But it's not very bad at the end.

In my opinion, it's more like 'team-work' instrument, rather than 'solo, steping-out' thingy. You know, what I mean..

Hope this helps :P
cheers

Cheers for the Info... I played the SR 506 (Is that what its called, the model below and i loved it, more than some £1500 basses in the same shop) so i assumed the Sr1006 would just be the perfected version of it.

Cheers again!

3.
Hurry up if you really plan to buy one of those, they went out of production with 2009. A real shame, since the 5000 range (that replaces 1000 series) are not neck through body, and the differences between 5000 series and 500 are now hardly worth double price.
sh*t! Thanks for that, i better get my act together. Mighty shame as well though.

4. Anyone played the Ibanez 1006 EFM Prestige? I Played the 506 and loved it, and assumed that the 1006 would be similar but just more lovely. I'm gonna hopefully get one soon and get a college grant to pay half. Any advice ect?

5. I see you have V-type amplification... does that include a V8 head? I really wanna get one some day and then get some Geddy Lee on the go,( Not just for that i bet they sound amazing).

And i know my amp is lovely! I only wish it was a AH-600 or 1000 instead of 300.
Very nice! Some great green loud stuff there :) Always preferred the SMX head to the later GP12 preamp that came about just before the Gibson takeover. But I only ever owned a GP12 head (pre-Gibson by 1 month...). One day I will own a Series 6 and an early SMX head. I hope
6.
I see you have one of the Hudson 5-stringers. What's that like? They seem pretty decent, especially for the price. (I note in your sig, you say it's like a Curbow).
Nice rig, by the way. :)
Well, I got mine of ebay for £350 and they seem to retail elsewhere for £650. Only once i got it i could tell it was B-stock (few stains, sorted most of it out though), but it plays beautifully and looks quite lovely as well, I was proud of myself for fetching that bargain . And yeah they are exactly the same as Cort Curbow Elites- i mean literally same everything apart from perhaps pickups, probably even built in the same factory.

But yeah lovely bass, i recommend it. Now i'm looking to get a Ibanez BTB 676 NT (yum yum)

Cheers

7. Hello,
I want to get rid of a five string set of D'Addario 'Nickel Wound' strings.
This set is new and in the original packaging.
I bought two packs and having now strung my bass with the 1st pack i have decided to go back to Ernie Ball strings.

Medium Gauge :
050.
070.
085.
105.
135.

'Long Scale' (34")

I'll put them up for £10 and you can pay by paypal unless your somewhere near Totnes.
I'll put it up on Ebay in a few days if it doesn't sell.

Cheers,

Jamie

8. Hi everyone,
When I received my trace head and cab from a TNT van about a month ago the courier man dragged out a incredibly battered looking set of boxes.

Luckily most of the damage was to the actual wrapping (which was incredibly crude by the way), but the cab did suffer a small amount of damage, to my dismay the guy handed me a shattered plastic ring, for a moment i had no idea what it was and then i noticed the part missing from the cab.

So yeah can you get this part replaced? It's for a 1048H cab but i think all the rings are the same size anyway.

When the part was smashed off, the big tube going into the cab must have been bashed in a bit as well, as when i super glued the ring together and put it on it didn't fit properly, luckily i managed to pull the tube out to its proper position 10 minutes ago.

Which arises another thought... It may have just been me but when i got the tube back in position the cab sounded much clearer and more defined... I had no idea these 'tuning' rings did that much!

DON'T TRUST TNT!!

Cheers fellows :)

Jamie

9.
SMX was 1992-1998ish, with a couple of facelifts along the way. Pre-Gibson :)
Nah, I have a AH-300 GP12 SMX head made in 2004. I know that since Peavey took over there hasn't been any.

10. At my college there's a buzzing with every amp whether guitar or bass. In this case it's because of the Police Station down the road, their radio signals somehow interfere with the signal, trust me it's bloody annoying! It wouldn't be that bad if we could listen to the calls and then help fight crime...yeah!...

11. Hello everyone,
For sale is my Marshall Bass State MB150 Bass Combo. It is a 'Hybrid' bass amp which contains mainly solid state circuitry, apart from a valve in the 7-Band EQ Preamp.
It has done valiantly for a variety of genres at a variety of volumes for 2 years since i bought it 2nd hand for £380.

It has a lovely tone and is really nice for funky playing. The EQ gives a good range in the sound, while you can also boost Lows or Highs with the 'Bright' and 'Deep' buttons.

The person who owned this amp before me was nice enough to secure heavy duty wheels onto the bottom of the amp, this makes it far easier to wheel around to the nearest pet shop and make the parrots develop serious mental illnesses with your delirious funky rhythms.

As it stands the active input doesn't work, however I have found an online retailer which sells the part that needs replacing for $6 (not including postage). If you wanna have a look here's the link: www.tubesandmore.com/ . If anyone would definitely want it if I fixed the input I will happily do that.

I have decided not to fix it myself as a buyer might be happy with the passive input which works with perfection!

I would prefer for people to pick up but I don't mind if anyone wants to arrange a courier.

Open to any trade propositions,

make me an offer!

12. Hey guys,
I recently bought a beautiful Trace Elliot AH-300 GP12 SMX head with a heavy but brilliant Trace Elliot 1048H 4x10 for £500 incl. Courier from Ebay (utter bargain!). The head was made in 2004 before Peavey took over.

Having gigged with this setup twice and played it loud in my house i know that it sounds beautiful, very definitive and is a really powerful and sturdy setup. I have also played a new AH-500 GP7 head (with the latest trace 4x10 cab) at a gig in a field.

It may be entirely because of the preamp not being GP12 but it definitely didn't sound as good. Peavey also seem to be a little obsessed with power as they only make 500watts and upwards heads these days, these new heads cost a hell of a lot more too.

Look out for a 2nd hand setup and make sure the Cabs can handle the head's power cause i noticed some of the old cabs can't take much at all.
