I also just saw that you ca do this in the app. On the menu go account settings, notification settings and then at the bottom there are notification types available. Turn off push.

That will most likely be a setting on your phone. It’s different on android & Apple but if you go settings and look for notifications then apps there should be a slider next to Basschat

Wore a wedding band for years without problems but then found I was getting a ganglion regularly just to the right of the ring finger of my left. Moved the ring (with Mrs Bats blessing) to my right hand and alls been well since…

Don’t touch! You don’t know where they’ve been! 😂

Ha, you just find a sound you like then always leave it on that. The active bass mid & treble have been in the same place on my Ibanez since just after I got it in 1984. At least now, when they get knocked, I know where to put them 😂.

That should get you started…

It’s not a ‘beginner bass’, you are meant to know how 😉
Enjoy…

Yamaha make great ‘starter basses’ and many here only use that brand. Nathan East seems to like his!
If budget is not so much of an issue then ‘buying a brand’ is likely to be more saleable if you find you don’t like bass (it won’t happen ;-)) and want to move it on.
Again, playing something is important. I’ve often ‘fancied’ a Ray but when I’ve had the opportunity to play one I’ve not liked it.
I started on a Fender P then moved to an Ibanez with a Jazz neck as playing the P was like wrestling with a cricket bat. Several basses later I’m back on the P as I love the tone. But I’m lucky as I have the Ibanez and all the basses in between so I get to pick who comes out to play! Which will change on mood as much as what/where 😂.
If there are any open mics near you it’s likely any bassists who attend will let you have a noodle. They are mostly approachable people. But you are going to get recommendations based on ‘how long is a piece of string’. Unfortunately…

Welcome!
Buy all 4. You will end up with them all if you stick around here anyway 😂.
But more seriously you prolly need to play one of each. Basses of the same brand/model will feel slightly differently so getting the one you ‘want to play cause it feels right’ is the most important thing. You can make it sound pretty much how you want it to with an amp / modelling pedal …
Others will have other views of course…

Get a right angle connector and then it just sticks down again?

I use wireless all the time. It’s part of my ‘sound’. My rig is dialled to work with it. But I wouldn’t use it when I was recording - unless the band was being recorded live. If you are just sitting next to your computer/sound desk a good quality lead is the way to go?

Same here Lozz. I had the Boss but I had to use a ext cable to go into the jack socket and a holder to attach to the strap as I didn`t like the way it plugs into the jack on a P bass sticking right out, I was always scared of knocking it against something and damaging it.
The NUX unit is much better, it folds in towards the body and comes with a great case that also acts as a charger. I have used this in the studio and on a busy stage and no probs at all.
I had a problem with the Boss working in my acoustic and the workaround was to use a TRS-TS connector. So I got a right angled one and as that also ‘worked’ on my other instruments I could use it when I felt it was sticking out a bit too much…
There were also some jacks it didn’t like and it wouldn’t operate the power so I kept an assortment of washers that went over the Boss jack and made sure the power was activated. All stored in an old glasses case…

I like the Boss WL20. It has a little ‘power button’ so you can pull it in and out without the usual ‘Ccrrrggg’ if you arnt muted. Great for Open Mics where people are sharing. Most are weirded out when I just hand them a dongle 😂!. Battery lasts forever. The only issue is it’s only available on 2.4ghz. I’ve stopped using mine in a lot of pubs as I was getting interference. I now use a Blackstar Airwire which is great too - but I like the way the Boss works better!

A friend from Alaska said it was cold when you spit, it hits the ground, then ‘cracks’. They said it’s really cold when you spit, it cracks and then bounces 😂

We get -5 here. Quite regularly. But the Celsius variety! You might have to scrape your car windows but it will still start without you worrying!

It's -5° right now and will be colder by Friday.

I’m taking an educated guess that you mean Fahrenheit which most people here wouldn’t ‘get’. So that’s MINUS 20!
I was in -23c in NYC once, with windchill, and I was able to break off bits of the moustache I had at the time 😂.

£200 is pretty normal for a pub gig here. Anymore and I’d be thinking about giving up the day job! Well, I would if I wasn’t retired….

Good idea but his mic is in 1, so the left most input. The first input. The one the furthest from the Red fader. The same f&#@in one it is EVERY time.
And he still doesn’t get it 😂.

I was meaning that the xr18 doesn't have any actual knobs or a screen that comes on when you power it up. I know too many people who say they've 'lost connection' for whatever reason or ended up cobbling a wired connection together for it.
Doesn't seem to be the same issues with the CQ18.

Soundcheck? You mean where they sort their hair and practice the poses they want to pull?

Be prepared to get 'stopped and searched' quite a lot I would think 🤣.
