1. Bought a lovely Mustang Bass from Will - our fourth transaction! As ever, it was an easy deal with great comms & an amazing packing job. Thanks again Will!

Cheers,

B. :)

Does anyone in London have a medium scale Maruszczyk I could try out? I'm thinking of buying the one benebass is selling but I've never played a medium scale before.

Hi Sumbabba - don't want to derail this thread, but a good way to see if medium scale is for you is to detune a 34" bass by a semitone then put a guitar capo on the first fret. Notes are just that bit easier to reach down the bottom end! :)

3. Hi - bought this a while ago & it's a beautiful bass. Apparently they were only made for a few years in the early '80s & came from the Matsumoko factory in Japan. It was the top of the CSB range at the time & has a beautiful ash body with a carved top in a lovely red / yellow sunburst. Loads of stuff online about these - full details are at http://www.matsumoku...ss/csb/csb.html

I bought it from the original owner & it's in great shape to say it's around 35 years old - tried to capture the dinks in the pics. Comes with the hard case that I think it originally came with. Since I had it I've given it a clean up & strung it up with a set of Status flats - plays really nicely.

Looking for £200 collected from Newcastle upon Tyne - possibly consider a trade for a short scale bass (try me!).

P.S. This isn't me or my bass, but a good demo of the same model in a different finish: -

Don't suppose the buyer's in London? Never tried a medium scale bass, wouldn't mind having a go on it with maybe a view to ordering my own. Love that headstock shape!

It's lovely, isn't it!?! Don't have full buyer details yet, but Wunjo's in Denmark Street & the Gallery had some medium scales in from other brands last time I looked online. There's also a big thread on here with some Maruszczyk mediums mentioned - might be worth asking there too... :)

5. Hi Steve - I've had loads of aches & pains with my left shoulder over the years, but I found a shorter scale along with sitting down makes a massive difference.

I know it sounds like a shameless plug & a it's a bit over your budget, but I've just put my 3kg 32" Maruszcyk bass up for sale - http://basschat.co.uk/topic/289364-maruszczyk-medium-scale-jake-4-lightest-precision-ever/

Hope you're on the mend soon...

Cheers,

B. :)

6. Hi All - I'm reluctantly putting my beautiful Maruszczyk Jake up for sale. There's loads on the forum about how great these basses are & this one's no exception. It's a one off medium (32") scale build with a chambered body & weighs only 3kg (6.6lb) - probably the lightest Precision ever!

The spec is: -

Jake 4p - Chambered, 32” medium scale
Body Wood - Alder with lightly flamed maple top and back
Neck - Maple with Rosewood fingerboard, 10” radius, 2.64/1.20mm fretwire (medium jumbo), 40mm nut width. White 3mm dots in front, matte finish, Mr. Tee (Telecaster style) headstock, 'slim C' profile (21mm at first fret, 24mm at twelfth feet)
Pickups - Haussel P with passive volume & tone
Hardware - Hipshot Vintage Bridge & Ultralite Tuners (supplied by me)
Colour - Redburst (red with black border) gloss

Here's the sofa shot as supplied by Adrian Maruszczyk: -

No problem doing more photos if you want some :)

I also found a video of Adrian playing it to demonstrate the Haussel pickup. It's strung with Status 100s in the video (supplied by me), but I have since restrung it with Thomastik flats, which makes it sound even better! I'll throw in an unused set of Status 40-100 flats into the deal too.

It's an absolute peach of a bass & has had home use only - virtually as new condition & still has the plastic on the scratchplate! I'm only selling it as I'm more happy with a shorter scale bass these days.

The list price on this was 1100 euro (currently £924 according to Google), so I'm looking for £550 posted with the original gig bag, or a trade for a short scale bass with cash either way for the right instrument. I live in Newcastle upon Tyne.

Cheers,

B. :)

7. This bass started life as a Westone Concord I bass. I loved the neck, but didn't really get on with the Westone shape so had the Bass Doc build a really light tulipwood body loosely based on a Musicman Sterling.

It's a lovely bass, but I'm only really playing basses with rosewood boards & flatwounds on these days - this one is strung with new D'Addarios, plays well & really growls with rounds on!

I'm also throwing in a fretless neck that fits the white body, a lot of original Westone parts I have lying around & some nylon strings I used on the fretless neck. There's nearly everything to build another bass!

Think it's a great deal for someone at this price - give me a shout if you need any more info... :)

I'm based in Newcastle upon Tyne & looking for £150 - collection deal only.

Cheers,

B.
