1. I just purchased a Vox Bass Amplug at the weekend. Plug it straight in, choose wether you'd like normal or distortion (flick the switch), adjust your volume, tone and gain settings on it, plug your cans in then you're off! Great piece of kit! Come with 2 AAA batteries and you can get some great sounds out of it. The only bad point is that too much voulme and gain can create hiss (does on my MusicMan [active]). There is also and AUX in so you can jam along to your iPod/CD player etc but I have't trued this yet.

Currently using Some Sennheiser HD 212 PRO cans and for the money, I can't fault them although I'd like to try a set of these: http://www.marshallheadphones.com/product/major

  3. I've joined the club too! so happy with it so far. Done three gigs with it last week and it was flawless. Running mine through an Ampeg 410 HLF cab and its very loud!

The DI is far too hot as people have mentioned. I've been having to use a DI box at gigs to avoid using it.
The 40db attenuator is a must at only a fiver.
Can you let me know where I might be able to get one of these please matey? Might save all my DI woes and will keep the sound guys happy at gigs!

  4. For sale: Ampeg SVT-450H

This is the 450w SVT head, based on the all valve design of the SVT-CL. More info here:

    http://www.ampeg.com/products/classic/svt450h/index.html

This is the USA made version rather than the Vietnamese model.

    Pics:

As you can see from the pics, there is some cosmetic damage but nothing that effects the way the amp works. The tolex has had a few rips in it which the previous owner has glued back down. There has also been a repair to one of the joins (also done by the previous owner) which you can see in the pics. As stated, these no way affect the awesome tone this amp chucks out!

Price: £525 new, so £350 to you lovely folk

Collection from Oxford only or I can arrange to meet you within a reasonable distance :)

  5. Afternoon ladies and gents!

For sale is my Ashdown rig, only selling because I've now got n Ampeg rig so this one needs to go!

This is a smallish but loud rig, I can fit both cabs in the boot of my car without putting the seats down! (small hatchback)

Its the UK made ABM series which comprimises of:

Ashdown ABM EVO II 300W Head
    Ashdown Mini 48 Cab (4x8inch)
    Ashdown Mini 115 Cab (1x15inch)
    Double footswitch
    Power lead
    Speakon to Jack lead
    speaker lead (jack to jack)

All the same age, purchsed from a member on here last year. Two of the speakers in the Mini 48 have been replaced recently so are brand new!

    Piccies:

    Height:

    Width:

    Slight wear on the handles

Overall condition is pretty good with some marks and a few nicks, nothing too serious, probably 8.5/10 if I was being honest.

    I'm looking for £500 for everything :)

Any questions fire away or if you want to come and play it thats cool.

    Collection only from Oxford (OX4)

I may split if there is no interest in the set

    Cheers,
    Matt

  6.
Personally if you are going for old school punch like this, id get the traditional Orange OBC410 unless you want it lightweight. Its a more traditional setup for a cabinet and its very loud.

The Ampeg 4x10 is pretty good as well, if memory serves, Im just not a massive fan of Ampeg. I must admit they are punchy buggers but they are sealed if you get the SVT410....so it sounds great to my ears but has a tad less low end than a ported (apparently). They also have the 410HLF (?!) thats 4 ohms and has MUCH more low end. You could also look at their new Neo 410.

If weight really isnt an issue and you want a monster of a 4 ohm 4x10, get an Aguilar GS410 or DB410.
I do like the 'propper' Orange cab and assuming it's 4ohms I reckon it'll probably be louder too? I might have to get a price for the 410HLF as I think thats the one to go for out of the 2 Ampeg. Let me just see what the size difference is between the Ampeg and the Orange. Silly Yanks like to use inches which is confusing me!

  7. Afternoon all!

Well I'm after a new cab to accompany my Ashdown ABM EVO II Head and I think I've narrowed it down to these two so my question to the knowlegable people on here is which one would you go for and why?

I have also been offered a schroeder 1212L from a forum member but without trying one out, I can't be sure I'll like it after a 200 mile round trip...

At the moment I use the Ashdown Mini 48 and Mini 115 cabs but I'd like to use just one cab and still have the same (or more) volume if possible. Both cabs are rated at 8ohms and I'd like to just stick with the 1 cab rather than be disappointed and sp**k a load more cash out next month! Oh, and the smaller the better and my band play loud!

I'll be looking at getting a new head within the next couple of months too but for now, it has the be a new cab first as the mini 48 just killed another speaker :)

    All help is greatly appreciated!

    Cheers,
    Matt

  8. I found my ABM to be much louder than my MAG and they were rated at the same volume...

I'm using an ABM EVO II 300 with the Mini 48 and 115 cabs and its plenty loud enough to compete with 2 guitar valve amps and we play very loud. I am in the market for an Orange Bass Terror now, you might want to check one out :)

  9.
Very cool bass - I had one from around '78 and it was good fun - better tuners than the earlier models but not the same reliced vibe. It looks like there's a bit of cavity re-shaping to fit the new pickup - it this the case? Whatever, this is a real bargain and I doubt it'll hang around.
As far as I'm aware its the original cavity hole, definitely not modified by me anyway and it is unmolested under the copper shielding :)
