1. Up for sale is an old bass I thought I would never part with. Its the second bass I bought and my 1st fretless. Bought from a crazy dutch guy when I used to live in Holland - it's an Ibanez Fretless Jazz Bass. Can't tell you much about it's history - only that it's probably from around 76'78 (best guess) not sure if it was made Fretless or one of the owners converted it. I recently (last year) had new inlays put in as the old ones were worn (or missing) which cost around £150.

Great playing bass, incredible punchy sound - lovely thin neck and quite light overall. Rare and mysterious too!

Need to raise some cash for a recent purchase....

Based just sound of Reading if you want to come and see - or I will happily post as the sender's expense. Doesn't come with a hard case but I am sure I can find a soft case to include. Looking for £195 or nearest offer!

  2. Up for sale is my Boss Micro BR - mini recording studio. This little thing is awesome. Built in effects, built in drums, 4 digital tracks to record. And it looks cool! I have mostly used this as a way to practice quietly and figure bass parts out. You can load MP3s onto it and slow them down, remove the bass etc. - really useful tool!

I need to raise some funds for a new bass purchase so this and a few other things have to go!

It's in great condition, with a protective pouch, the manual, and the original box. Simple to use and loads of fun.

Looking for £80 including postage to the UK Mainland. Or you can collect it - I live just south of Reading.

  3. For sale is one of my SWR 2x10 cabs - need to raise some funds for a newly acquired bass!

I've had this for around 6-7 years and it has served me well over the years. Great sound, clear and punchy. I used to have an SWR Triad - but after I changed my car I found it didn't fit and so I replaced it with 2 of these 2x10s. I auditioned loads of cabs and the SWR was the the only one that kept the sound pure (in my opinion). These new fangled neo cabs just can't move air like the real stuff! ;-)

I have it coupled with my SWR Basic 350 head and for 90% of the gigs I have played (weddings, private parties) is has been plenty loud enough. With 2 of them - it's massive. But I am only selling one...

£150 and it's yours. You can collect if you like, I am close to Reading - or I will box it up and post to you - at buyer's expense. It weighs around 20kg - so including packaging maybe 25kg. Interparcel's cheapest quote is around £10!

    Here's some technical blah blah...

  4. For sale is my lovely Ashbory Bass - Red with silicone rubber strings, complete with soft-case and built-in funk. Bought this around 8 years ago from the Bass Centre, but only ever played at home - never gigged. In great condition, even still has the peel-off plastic on the electrics cavity. Fretless with a lovely warm double-bass sound. I've taken this bass with me a couple of times on holiday, the case is no bigger than a squash racket case and easily fits in an overhead locker. Just be careful not to leave a small baggie of white powder (baby powder, for the strings) in the case - customs don't like that.

Will happily post to the winner - shouldn't cost more than £10; at buyer's expense. Or you can collect it!

  5. Here's my take on it - Yeah Vic can do the pyrotechnics; but he's one damn fine groove player underneath it all. I studied with him this year at Music Camp in Nashville and the depth of knowledge this guy has is incredible. And so humble. Just a lovely, lovely guy. One night he got up with his brothers and totally nailed Superstitious like I never heard it - and 99% of what he did was just holding the groove. What you see on youtube is the 1% of the time he goes nuts to wow the crowd. Just look at this video - and compare how funky he is in the 1st 2mins with the slaptastic notefest at around 5mins. But the important thing is - he is ALWAYS holding the groove. It's always there. It's IN him. He IS the groove. Obviously I am biased - but don't write this guy off as some guy who taps and slaps.

and personally - I think the guy at the start of this tread is dull, unmusical and totally stiff. Where's the groove? ;-)

  6. Need to make some space in my music room, and after the recent purchase of a Fender Acoustic - I'm not really playing this so much.

It was bought new in 2007 (I think) - but has never been gigged and has never left my music room. So, it's all as good as new. Strung with some matt black flats for a lovely upright growl. Comes complete with Dean case and swivel stand.

Looking for £150 (was around £400 new I think) - I can post for around £25 but it's quite long so maybe would be better collected.

Tiny chip in the wooden nut at the G end - but nothing major.

  7. An impulse purchase of a new Fender Acoustic bass means I need to move my lovely Ibanez onwards. It is about 2 years old, but looks new. :-) A couple of acoustic, jazzy gigs (which is what I bought it for) but it mostly gets played at home. No marks or scratches (of any significance).

Lovely fat acoustic tone, pretty easy to play despite heavy strings and serious action! Sounds great unplugged with a woody growl when plugged in.

Mahogany neck, with Rosewood fretboard, onboard SPT preamp with bass, treble, mid and shape controls. Phase switch, tuner and both 1/4" and XLR outputs.

I hadn't really planned on selling this - but then again I didn't plan on buying the Fender yesterday so there you go!

I paid £280 for this when new - so looking for £130 to recoup some cash for my last purchase. Doesn't include a bag, but I will include a new set of stings if you prefer a more zingy tone (current strings have a lovely motown thump to them). Will post (but would prefer not as its kinda delicate) - £25 or there abouts will get the bass to you. I will pack it nice and neatly in the box that my new Fender came in.

    Here are some pics.

  8. Bought an awesome Overwater bass from Tim. Cracking deal - and Tim even drove down to Reading to drop it off. Pleasure to do business with! :-)
