  1. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/200158-for-sale-price-drop-ns-bolin-5-l825-and-bass-collection-ii-jazz-l360-delivered-with-hard-cases/ I own that bass now! It's amazing. Has had some mods done by the previous owner It now has flats & a foam mute so has been on quite a journey. I'll never sell it. The maker of the earlier Bass Collection stuff is Momose san from Japan. It's entirely handmade & I'm looking for a P made by him as well.
  2. Stolen out of the band van of course & will remain unplayed forever. But as you stated bassassasin the nicest maple I've ever played in my life.
  3. This jazz bass if anyone's interested, was the one stolen from me & I'd like it back. I'd buy it back straightaway. The nicest maple nack I've ever played. You can tell it's mine (but not from this photo) because I had to replace the bridge pickup with a mexi jazz one I had so the poles don't fit in the dimarzio cover and aren't aligned. There's also a split on the back where the bottom wing is coming away. But what a bass! Weighed a ton, sounded like thunder & has so little re sale value the police said it's going to end up in someone's nephews' room being unappreciated. I want this bass back so much!
  4. Guess who got in touch with their A&R asking when they were playing in the U.K? & asked about if they knew whether craddock meant craddock in the U.K? As it transpires they're named after a family member called craddock. I, in my relaxed (slightly relaxed / had a couple of beers after work) state confused their admin with the one for this and was mightily confused & somewhat defensive by the reaction I got from them. So I got my heckles up trying to defend my idiosyncratic views & was wondering why they didn't appreciate my humour because we were talking about completely different threads! A huge cringe later! 2 confusing emails back and forth about pink torpedo rock being a firmly macho endeavour, musicians (especially bass players) being in touch with their feminine sides & a general misunderstanding of U.S / U.K humour & I highly doubt that they're playing in Newcastle upon Tyne anytime soon.........so you can thank me for that. I will accept a 1976 CSL mahogany body maple nack J bass (the one that some scumbag nicked from my van - if anybody has one for sale please get in touch) as way of recompense from yourselves as compensation for my emotional distress. Hopefully they will come play the U.K & I can see this fantastic band play live!
  5. check it; theyre' great musicians with good tunes to boot. think that people need to listen without predujice
  6. Just got into flatwounds and have been enjoying playing my bass again, writing songs & working out stevie wonder, motown stuff etc. I've always been a big tone fan, creedence, r&b combo stuff and found this band called craddock. They're really good. Here in the U.K craddock means vulva not the gluteus maxus. Does anybody think that they knew this & are being ironic or is it a naive U.S expression of sexuality. I'm a fan but not in a creepy way. So craddock? A band called craddock but not as explicit as meow meow riot per se. They can really play tho. If I started a band called willy that'd be funny so are they taking the fosters? On a more serious note. Should I use compression on my flats live? I swapped my 4 x 10 for another 1x15 & I've got a stack of 2x15s with XL flats on my jazz bass & it sounds ace. It sounded like and felt like playing a wellington boot until I set it up and made a foam damper. Now I'm absolutely sold & even using a pick for extra thump. Jim
  7. Hello, I acquired a Bespoke Upright Electric Bass made by Jerry Rulf many years ago. I've recently fixed it up & am having some confusion over the vibrating string length on these pre superlight models. Does anybody have one & could tell me the measurements of how they've set it up please? I've dressed it as a 3/4 string length which works great & am wondering if the action can be lowered a little? I set it to 1/2 scale & the strings weren't clearing the fretboard. Just interested in seeing what others have as Jerry is unavailable to discuss this with. It's a possibility that it has a custom scale but that seems very unlikely. If anybody has one on here please let me know what your setup is. I've also modified a keyboard stand to hold the bass which I've found is much more comfortable than using the metal rest to stand up with it. If you're interested in this idea I'm happy to show you what I've done. Thanks, Jim.
