Totally brand new and unopened.

All I require is £20, and for that I'll post them as well!

When was this? See them last year at Glasters and they were awesome.... Full band RnB type set up.... had the whole crowd in their hands

I saw DLS in 2003, Kentish Town Forum, Loved them since the start, but not a great gig. The whole thing was inaudible, I couldn't spot a single thing they played...ended up with a massive crowd onstage...throbbing bass was all you could make out.

Shame, as I love DLS - full band gig would have been awesome. Roll on any new material....I think..?

If you're a music streaming service user (I'm a Google Play subscriber) R40 is on it today.

No gig tomorrow night, so I'm-a-gonna-have-me some Rush! :o

There must be a problem re the release date, as it's been pulled from the site. Bummer, as I was just about to start listening to it!

4. ....and I should add Kenickie - mid/late 90s band with the now famous TV person Lauren Laverne.

I'll admit - I was a fan, and love the singles they'd put out so far - this was late '96, before any album had come out.

They were dreadful. I remember watching them thinking - how can they be this poor? It was more like a front-room rehearsal. Very bad.

I wrote a damning review of the gig and venue in the Student newspaper (circulation 10.000!), and soon heard that owner of said venue wanted to kill me.

The pen was clearly not mightier than the sword, as I was shitting myself whenever I went past. Lesson learned!

5. I suppose it's more money for Jeff Lynne's hair (and beard) dye fund! :P

I think I'm alone in the BC universe, as ELO always seriously grind my gears. I'd even jump to the radio to turn them off!

Very well played and executed though - I can see the appeal without doubt. :)

6. Just saw this trending on Twitter - I am shocked, and saddened.

Perhaps the only band I started with as a 13 year old, and still adore today as much.

I read sometime back that he was not in the best of health, and had returned to the UK after some years living in America.

RIP Philthy - a true one of a kind.

Iain, i have a Geddy usa , they sound like Geddy's bass they really do, that sound just oozes from them, i love it, it is my number 1 now.

Sounds like a great bass George - one that's definitely on my future shopping list. For me, Geddy's Jazz bass is the Jazz tone, bar none. :)

8. Last time I played in Hastings - in a previous band - it ended with our Female guitarist threatening to throw a table through the pub window, after the owner decided (after we'd finished and packed away) that we should have gone on for longer, and as such didn't warrant the full and agreed fee.

However, following the six-stringers' intervention, we got paid! :)

9. I wouldn't use anything else except D'addario. Always EXL 165 Nickels.

I've used them for some years now, they've always been superb. I've sampled lots of other strings, but nothing, nothing at all beats these for me.

I bought a double set a few years back, and there was a t-shirt included. Also been worn loads, and it's still in regular wardrobe circulation. I really hope they do another one again one day before mine wears out! :D

You might be surprised how much more fill it gives to your sound, even at lowish volumes. A big plus is that it's also closer to ear height when stacked.
In fact, I feel I miss something if I only take the combo, could be psudeo in play.

+1 on this. When I run my 500 alone, it sounds great....when I add the 115 cab, it really does give it an extra push to the stratosphere!

Apologies for the thread resurrection but I would love to know the outcome of this experiment!

Well.......

The first bridge was a bit of a disaster, as at a gig last June, the E and A saddles loosened themselves during a gig. I spent the gap between every song screwing them back again. Bit embarrassing! I luckily had an old Geddy Jazz at the time to use the next day, as we had the opening slot at a Blues festival, which meant leaving home at about 9.30am.

Bought some threadlock, but it was too tight....

So, after advice, I complained to Hipshot who sent me a nice new set of saddles, FOC. To their credit, great service, and the new ones didn't shift an inch.

However, a few months later, me and the 4003 parted company, and it's now residing in Latvia. I'd changed the pickups to Classic Amplification, 70's style as well, as the modern 4003 sound I find far to dense and lacking....and I've tried a few!

I eventually picked up a '74 4001 (not my first I've owned, but my fave). Had this since earlier this year, and it sounds like I wanted to 4003 to be....and it's a YOB bass too!

.....and it's sticking with the original bridge!
