This is a really special bass, so versatile. Definitely not just a metal bass, it can do it all. Neck is lovely to play, body is nice and comfortable and it balances great on a strap.

"Up for sale I have a special bass, an Ibanez SRMS805 multiscale 5 string bass.  This one has the Twilight finish with some lovely grain poplar burl.

I bought this new last year and stripped out its Ibanez preamp and its seriously average chinese licensed Bartolini BH2 pickups out and installed US Classic Bass Soapbars and a 3 band Bartolini HR-5.2AP/918 preamp.   Configuration has changed from stock to make this the ultimate tone machine and works as follows:-

Volume - Push Pull Active/Passive

Blend

Treble

Mids - Push Pull Frequency Selector

Bass

Toggle Switch 1 - Series/Coil Tap/Parallel Bridge Pickup

Toggle Switch 2 - Series/Coil Tap/Parallel Neck Pickup

If you've played a stock SRMS805 before, this one will play the same but tonally it really is an entirely different animal.  Its fantastic and the array of different tones you can get from all the different coil arrangements is wonderful."

Arched flame maple top. All parts stock. Condition is almost like new, slight nick to the back of the neck but that doesn't affect anything.

This bass is magic tbh, the action is crazy low, it's by far the best playing bass I have - Only reason I'm selling is that I just need the money...

Brought this bass from christopherbassmay from this forum. The price is very cheap for an AB1 of this condition, but it's what we agreed so it's what I'm selling for.

I realise that this bass far exceeds my needs, and lately I've been focusing on different styles of music for which this bass is just overkill for. That said, this bass fits all styles of music, the pickups and switching are very versatile, you can select neck, bridge or both in series/parallel.

The Dingwall name speaks for itself, this bass is perfect in every way honestly. I've played a few 6 strings, and is is by far the most easy to play and sonically balanced. The B string is incredible, the C string is fat sounding.

The bass is very very light, and there is a straplock button on the underside of the body to shorten the reach to the low notes (when I use a strap, I always fit it to this button)

Comes with the Dingwall gigbag (super super sturdy.) 

I would very much prefer collection after lockdown has ended, but I'm willing to post at buyers expense.

I would also prefer payment via bank transfer, but I could also be tempted by a trade + cash (trade value would be more however)

It feels more similar to a Thumb, but you're right it's a great cross. The pickups are Bartolini's (https://bartolini.net/product/9cbjd1/) which are between 8-9k Ohms. TBH I'm not really used to single coil pickups on bass so I'm not too sure how they compare to others, but definitely compared to humbuckers they are low output. However, like I said, this bass easily has the most clarity out of my collection.

Hey, scale length is 35 to 32.76". Should be fine to keep the nut the same, I use really light strings for BEAD (120-50.) It's the same nut from the factory, which was for standard

Really cool bass, I just don't play it as much as it deserves. They don't make these anymore, I brought this from Andertons a couple months ago and only used at home and at band practise. 

Currently set up to BEAD, so get some fresh strings if you want it in standard.

Action is VERY low - lowest out of any bass I've played. I do have a light touch so you may have to raise it if you're heavy handed.

Super super playable, neck shape is really comfy. Thin, but fits your hand nicely.

The pickups are very low output, which gives it great clarity and dynamics. Neck pickup sounds P-like and the bridge is honky, middle position is where it's at though. Also sounds incredible with distortion and a pick.

Would prefer collection, but I could post once I find a box. Comes with hardcase.

Not interested in trades but try me, I've been looking at P-basses and Telecasters recently...

Exactly! The preamp is very powerful and colours the tone a bit (even with flat eq it seems to add just a bit of growl.) I found that the treble control is extremely musical sounding, it adds clarity and bite without getting abrasive. Even in passive mode the bass is very high output and aggressive, but the Black Label pickups have such a smooth and balanced sound that it works very very well in most styles.

34" scale and it's currently got 45 - 135 Daddario Nickle Roundwounds, though I usually run 40 - 125 Prosteels. This bass has a REALLY good B string, it was one of the reasons why I decided to buy it after trying it.

Yes, it's a Rosewood fretboard. I've had a few rosewood boarded bass and this is the most beautiful I've had - really dark with some nice figuring.

I really don't want to sell this bass, but needs must. It's the best feeling bass I've ever played, and picking it up makes me very regretful for listing it. However, I rarely use it outside of home and it deserves better.

Purchased from Wunjo's mid last year, have upgraded the pickups to Sandberg's incredible Black Label set. It has had a full set up, and some fret work done around the 12th fret as it wasn't 100% from new.

It is also very light, even for sandberg's standards. I don't have accurate scales but your back will be happy.

Brought this off ebay just to mess about with, actually sounds and feels pretty decent but considering I have no idea what I'm doing when I try to play it, it's just taking up space and hasn't been used in like 6 months so it's gotta go. If I could play fretless and had the need I would 100% gig with this bass, it's got a good growl and mwah to it.

Amazing combo, can pair another cab to get 500w. Big big sound from the 15" speaker but has that Markbass clarity to it.

I got this as I needed more body to my sound with a drop tuned 5 string and it really provides that, sad to see it go but I've moved over to a helix and need to de-clutter the house as I've just moved.

Would much prefer collection from High Wycombe, but potentially could post at buyers risk/expense.

Regrettably I am selling this Spector Q6 Pro, I've had something pop up and I need some extra funds so a quick sale is needed!

I purchased this from threedaymonk last December, it's in immaculate condition. The neck has been refinished, it plays wonderfully.

You're getting a LOT of bass for your money with this one.

I currently have it set up with some stupid tuning, I'll get some different strings on there and set it back up for standard.

Ideally looking for collection only, but I have a spare bag and could sort shipping out at your risk and expense.

My GMR (solid bubinga neck) will hold a note on an open string for two bars while I develop the line on another string. Exceptional. And it has a bolt-on neck - through-necks are said to be usually better for sustain. Might be worth looking for a second-hand through-neck Ibanez, they don't seem to hold their value second-hand, not sure why, so very good vfm if you find one you like. If you're lucky enough to find a GMR, grab it (little-known, so go for 1/2 to 1/3rd of a comparable quality bass from a well known make) but they're scarcer than hens' teeth. Not sure this helps... 

I keep coming back to the thumb, whenever I'm near a store that has one I'll always play it. But you make a good point, their tone is magical, but the ergonomics never suited me which is why I haven't pulled the trigger. I've played a few Dingwalls and I really think they are for me, super punchy and they sustain forever especially on the low strings. I'm thinking of just putting an order for a wenge-necked ABZ. I'm not into the tone wood thing but I adore wenge, it's always a pleasure whenever I play it and the ash body is nice and light (I'm small so big plus!)

Not many singer / bass players but it's not impossible, don't give up hope. Imho keep the bassline as simple as you can while you're singing, and develop it in instrumental breaks between the verses. (Even guitar players do that, if you listen closely.) Prog often works well with long sustained single notes, which works with that. Try to find a bass with good sustain - definitely not a P (whatever you may read elsewhere on BC!)

I've been on the hunt for that very bass for a while now, my BTB has very very good sustain but I'm looking to move over to a wenge-necked Dingwall or a Warwick Thumb in the future.

Probably about time I made a post. I am a young player in my early 20's. Been playing Bass for a little while now, I picked it up on a whim as I needed to record a part and I found out that the low end is where I belong. Music is a big big part of my life, I grew up listening to my Dad's records. He unfortunately passed away just over a month ago. I intend to focus on my musical vision to honour him, it's what he would have wanted and I know it would make him proud. Music and Bass are my way to express and deal with emotions and difficult times, I'm glad I have them as a part of my life.

I play prog-rock and metal mostly, but I don't try to emulate the big bands in those genres, I'm trying to create something unique and compelling. My two biggest influences from a song writing point of view are Steven Wilson (Porcupine Tree primarily) and Mariusz Duda (Riverside and his solo stuff from Lunatic Soul), their approach to melody is something that I find very compelling. In terms of technique and general bass playing I'm more influenced by modern players, Amos Williams from Tesseract always inspires me to be creative and mix up my techniques and voicing and Jon Stockman from Karnivool inspires me to be creative when it comes to rhythm, counter-melody and using effects with Bass. John Frusciante is also a huge influence of mine, even though he is a guitar player, he is so expressive with his playing and you can really feel that his instrument is a true extension of himself.

I've also played guitar since I was young as I dreamed of being on a stage and I wanted to 'play music' and that seemed like the only option at the time because guitar was where it was at at the time, but honestly as much as I love guitar, bass is just too fun that I never touch my guitars anymore. I would say my biggest musical skill is singing though, I have a huge range and good control but I prefer to sit back in the pocket and play bass. I'm looking to get more competent at singing and playing bass, I can sing pretty effortlessly but I play in a very complex genre that requires so much concentration to play in that it just seems impossible.

Ibanez BTB 1825 5 string, 35" scale bass with case.

A lot of bass for your money here, really great sustain and incredibly versatile.

You can find the specs on Ibanez's website, key points are the 35" scale length and Aguilar pups as well as the preamp which is one of the most versatile I have come across.

Set up by myself to my preferences (mid-low action, slightly higher on b string as I find it helps articulation, slightly lowered pickup height)

Absolutely stunning bass for the money, great definition and growl. It's quite heavy with some really dense woods, but it has perfect balance and ergonomics that it isn't an issue (I'm really small and I don't notice the weight). I'm just looking for something a little different.

I'm located in High Wycombe, would prefer collection and I can travel via train towards London or Birmingham to meet. But I will post at the buyers expense.
