Currently messing about with this setup (The brick on the right is the 10h battery pack)

The Dwarf is running a pedalboard for Bass with a Drummer in a box (I just need a small Muppets Animal Beanie to sit on top!)

I've not come across the MOD Dwarf until now. What's it like for bass?

    Pedalboard edit no: 1264902

Removed tuner, ehx hotwax, and nux MLD pre amp and replaced with the hotone ampero II stomp.

Literally no reason for changing except gas and I really fancied the hotone unit! The NUX pre was fantastic, and I hadn't experienced any of usual issues. The hot wax has also become my favourite drive for bass, it's a brilliant pedal that's an absolute dark horse. If I didn't need the gated fuzz in the ultrawave, and all 6 presets in my C4 I think I'd have booted them instead of the hotwax!

How is the Ampero Stomp for bass? Both to operate and in regard to quality of effects (especially modulation and drive).

upgraded my di as I’ve added the sy200 back in on its own out to foh

also added the heavy bat, from drunk beaver which is basically all the rats you can want!!

Okay, I was wrong, *this* is a whole lot! Do you prefer a tap dance or river dance technique to switch between effects?

I’m telling myself this is the set up for while but I give it until next payday before I decide something needs to change…

That's a board's worth of effects and then you have the HX Stomp on there too! That's a whole lot, right there.

  5. Hi, I'm trying to work out exactly which of these to get. The Oxford is 1.2 lbs/ 1kg heavier but I can't see where all the extra weight is, beyond the pocket for the straps. I like the look of the Oxford slightly more, but as someone who mostly carries my gig bags on my back and will walk longer distances with them, the lighter weight is more important than an extra pocket. Do any of you have experience with either of these, please? For the record, I don't fly ever so flying with my bass is not a consideration. Thanks.

Sure!! It's because I like the overall color of the effect, I don't actually like it oscillating too much or being too upfront
I only use the chorus together with reverb as a matter of fact, but I use the reverb by itself quite some times

Have you tried depth all the way up and rate down real light? With the x-over in up position?

How is the recovery from your funectomy going? ;)

Look here you blackguard, I have a medical condition that means I'm still waiting for a humourplasty operation. The waiting list is phenomenally long, however. And whilst I am indeed landed gentry, I'm also the most cheap scoundrel you could possibly meet and thus refuse to go private.

  8. My first pedal was NUX flanger but then I migrated to chorus. I just got myself a Fender Hammertone flanger this week as there are some great Siouxsie and the Banshees and Cure songs that use it. Chorus is still my main modulation but sometimes I just want the swirl and feedback only a flanger can get me. It seems like a pretty fine pedal too, plenty of tone sculpting available for my needs at least.

So 2 weeks with nothing on the thread, then a flurry of "I'm out" and "Does this mean I'm out?"  Were you all hid behind the sofa waiting for someone to break cover, or did you really all buy stuff yesterday? 😁

Literally on Wednesday of this week. Not everyone lives inside a forum, not even a bass one.

I took the time to take a pair of pics after following this thread for ages - this is my pedalboard, a Nano+ powered by a TRex Fuel Tank JR underneath (with feet lightly raised)

I use this one on various projects and give it a few add-ons for specific gigs

The base/main shape/main band version of it is this one:
    Polytune2 noir mini
    EHX Holy Grail
    EHX Bass Clone
    Fairfield Circuitry Barbershop
    Fairfield Circuitry Modéle B

The Pedaltrain itself, the power bank, the TC Polytune and the Barbershop have been together in this since 2016.
Once I found the Modéle B (which is an always on Barberhsop) I stacked them resulting in a distortion grain  i love.
The chorus and reverb are bridged with a modded Ikea tool for some parts of my main band and I love the tone they get together.

When I play with another act I stick a loaned B7K, and when I play in my acoustic duo I add a Tech21 for clean guitar and the Boss DD-3 for a guitar part also.

This is the largest board I had, at the time (2017-2020) I had a post-rock/desert instrumental trio and I knew no clean at all.. good memories (I still have all the gear, it's just... in drawers. Sigh)

May I ask why the depth is set so lightly on the Bass Clone, please?

Well - I've got a new amp head at home that has challenged some of the pedals I've got, and I went out to uncover the analog toys.

If you look up 'squeeze' in the dictionary, this will show up:

    image.thumb.png.87d566873d7216cfc93fea2c6d1a8652.png

You want a smaller pedalboard, there's barely any pedals on there. 😆

  12. I'm probably in for the whole year so long as strings don't count. Strings not attached to a bass, that is. No, nor any other type of instrument. I'm left-handed so the temptation is low and my two are both hard to top for what I like so it's extremely unlikely anything new will be entering my bass gear collection this year.

Cool bass.  Love the through neck, shame they had to slap a battery compartment across it.

    Looks a real metal monster.

Yes, not sure why they did that - it's not the most aesthetic spot for a battery compartment after all.

  14. Teaming up with my Schecter 2019 Riot Aurora Burst to give me an amazing pair of basses. Bought right at the end of last year (with a significant discount) so doesn't count as a 2023 purchase. She feels very light, the neck is super thin which is how I like it. I will say, not impressed with the luminescence of the side dots but I knew that was likely an issue before I threw down the money and it's not really a big deal. There's clearly a lot going on with the pickups and tone sculpting options and that's going to take some time learning but from the 40 minutes I spent playing her tonight, she's lovely.

  15. Well, yesterday I bought the Schecter SLS Evil Twin bass I was after, so excepting a set of heavy gauge strings, I should be new gear free in 2023. I also got a huge discount on the Evil Twin thanks to the January sales. Seriously, £460 off! I do have 2 or 3 things to sell next year so maybe I'll have a negative acquisition for the year.

My first few ventures into 5ers resulted in playing lots of bum notes with my right hand. Affected my confidence so they all got moved on.  It wasn't till I started playing with a floating thumb technique that I overcame the problem. Lots of videos on YT but Scott Devine and Mark Smith both have videos on their sites.

It wasn't until I'd been playing for a few years I learned thumb anchoring was the way bass was supposed to be played. I was reading an interview with Geddy Lee at the time who said he used a floating thumb technique and was like "oh, I do that, okay".

  17. Thanks everyone, that's very reassuring. I'd actually added one of the Hercules hangers to my Christmas presents suggestion list for my GF having seen how sturdy they look and the reviews on Andertons. Good to see others recommending them, Acebassmusic.

  18. I couldn't see this asked elsewhere, so I'd like to ask what people's experience of wall hangers are? I have very limited space and it would be really good if I could safely hang my bass on the wall but I've heard stories about how hanging a bass by the neck is harmful for the instrument. Your experiences, please? Thanks.
