  1. Haven’t been on here in a while as I’ve been busy trying to build up my business which is going quite well and getting good feedback from my builds

Heres my latest build is it a P or Jazz bass I don’t really know to be honest??

The body is made from old floor joists and the neck is a scratch built Oak with Oak fretboard from an old chest of drawers

I’m using a Hipshot A style bridge and some modern style jazz pickups……👍🏻

  2. I just got an Irig 2 and I tried to set it up with my IPhone but when I turned the monitor on but it seemed to pick up everything via the mic on the phone???

I tried changing the settings on AmpliTube but I can’t seem to change the input from built in mic?

Any ideas on how to sort it out?

    Thanks in advance…..👍🏻

  3. Hi

I’m trying to set up my latest build and I’ve got a fret buzz on the A and D strings only on the 3rd fret I’ve tweeted the truss rod as the neck had a bit too much of a back bow and I’ve raised the action on the two strings but it’s still buzzing!! I’ve checked with my rocker and the fret doesn’t look to be high/low?

Do you think it’s a nut issue? If so what would be the best way to test it?

    Thanks in advance…….👍🏻

  4. As per usual with me this bass has undergone another change this is what I’ve ended up with and it had now become one of my favourites!!…….👍🏻

I’m going to build another one with reverse p bass pickups for a change…..👍🏻

Lovely work! I did wonder if this forum would care for a guitar build diary, I’ve just ordered my second Gray Emperor!

I did post on guitarchat but no one seems to be on it so I thought I’d just add it on here instead 👍🏻

  6. Almost finished this build I’ve wired it like a Gilmour Nashville Tele so it gives you some different tones to a standard Strat!

Just got the re-fret the neck as I found 2 frets that had popped and some of the others were quite worn……..👍🏻

I’m keeping the Warbird but the SG’51 is going up for sale…….👍🏻

  8. Like a dumb a**e I routed the pickup cavity in the wrong place so I had to remake the body so here’s the new “Krysa ‘51” just waiting for the pickup to turn up now!!

I’m not sure about the control plate on an angle or whether to have it straight?…….👍🏻

  9. Paul is a an absolute great guy he responded to a post asking for donations for my daughter’s volunteer run guitar school and he gave me a Yamaha fretless bass, fender mustang amp, strings, pedal tuner, strap etc all for the price of postage!!!! Thanks again!!!👍🏻

  10. I really wanted a no pickguard Jag bass so I thought I’d quickly make one to replace my current one……👍🏻

I think I’m going to sand the body back more as it’s a bit darker than I thought it will be once I oiled it?

  11. This is going to be for all my random bass builds that don’t really need a dedicated build thread it will probably mostly be filled with when I think “Hmmmmm I wonder what that would look like?”

So he’s the first one I’m going to call it a ‘51 SG! the body shape is more Jack Bruce sig than Gibson style

It’s a scaffold board body with an old neck I had kicking about, the headstock is going to be matching the body with a kinda Warwick style shape with Black Hardware……..👍🏻

I'd also be careful using a non-bearing cutter. If your template is plastic you might find it melting with the friction and the bit wondering. I've had this happen once when I was using a bearing cutter!! Must have had the speed all wrong.......

It will still do the same to MDF as well it’s also happened to me when a bearing exploded I now religiously WD40 the bearing before every use!!

I think when it comes to routers use whatever your comfortable with I use my 1/4” Trend T4 one handed ad I’ve used them so often over the last 20 years of being a carpenter

The only time I got scared was using a 2 /12” rounder bit in my trend t10 1/2” shaping the back of a neck that’s why I bought the modern C router bit to use in my router table!!
