Better pic showing the colour now I have the plastic off the pickguard. Also added a Hipshot that I had lying around.

Ok I managed to get it plugged into my practice rig. A few observations:

1. In passive mode, there is no tone control. This means it cannot do classic P-bass or J-bass tones with the treble rolled off.

2. The active preamp is powerful - with everything centred it is much louder than in passive mode. The frequencies seem pretty good but it took me a while to dial in a useable tone without overloading my amp. I need to check if there is an output adjustment on the preamp 

3. The bass sounds good in both active and passive modes. Good clear PJ tones, nice middle P pickup and honky J pickup BUT you cannot roll the treble off. This could be a major issue for some folk.

4. The neck is surprisingly comfortable, fast and easy to play. I was wary at first but it has grown on me.

Colour is lovely. It is pearlescent which you can't really see in photos. Matched with the tort guard it looks class.

Mine has a small blemish on the back but not enough that I'll be sending it back.

I wish they would just use maple fingerboards though - Pau Ferro is not aesthetically pleasing to my eyes.

I'm also a bit puzzled as to their choice of 12" radius for the board - it is very flat compared to any bass I've ever played before.

Still haven't been able to plug it in so can't comment on sound yet.

Really nice finish, smooth neck but the Pao Fero board looks like milk chocolate and the 12" radius will take a bit of getting used to.

Haven't plugged it in yet (can't get near my amps).

I keep seeing this and wanting it.

Almost certainly unaware.

This bass is nearly 20 years old - probably been through many owners and mods get lost in the mists of time.

The jazz pickup has also been replaced with a Wizard '84'. 

Used my Aerodyne Jazz on a gig at the weekend and I noticed my D and G strings were very quiet so I decided to take a look at wiring.

Found a loose wire and that the P pickup has been replaced at some point with a Wizard 'Thumper'.

Anybody ever heard of these?

MXR Bass Envelope Filter.

In good condition but no box. Has velcro on bottom (easily removed).

I bought this on here back in February but have moved back to multi-effects.

Great filter, classic funky sound, very well built.

I'd have kept it if it had been a 4 string. The range of tones from the preamp and the sustain and piano clarity are uniquely Status. I just never got the hang of 5-strings with my wee hands.

A really great bass. Glad I had it for a year. Good luck with the sale.

I had to switch things around to fit on the wireless receiver.

I'm thinking of replacing the Bass Compactor with something smaller and I could lose the tuner as the DP-3x has a tuner built in.

I finally got hold of an Aerodyne off a fellow Basschatter. Played a couple off gigs with it and I quite like it but it won't replace my Overwater.

Bit late to the party but I own a Sire D5 which i would say has probably the best neck on a sub-£1000 bass I've ever owned.  Quality of finish is very good and it sounds great. Only downside is quality of tuners but I'd say it is easily better than any Squier or Mex Fender I've had.

Another good value candidate is the Vintage brand. Again I have one and it is better than the Squier or Mex Fenders I've had.

Here's mine. Not sure about the bass compactor and I need to make room for an octaver. Power is from a cioks DC5.

PJ is my favourite pickup configuration. Mainly because I rest my thumb on the bridge pickup. I feel lost without it (even though I generally use only the P pickup)

I gigged last night and am thinking a P bass of some type is what I need as an alternative to my Stingray....

I've used it at a couple of rehearsals but haven't gigged it. It plays great and has a nice punchy mid-range clarity.

The neck is truly lovely, so smooth and I was amazed at how much comfort the rounded fret ends give.

The only real downside for me is I need to drill holes to fit a Hipshot (don't really want to do that).

It gets picked up off the rack regularly for practice in the house but it won't be a gigging bass for me.

Great value for money though.
