Just came across this, Blunderthumbs. Quick note just say have recently acquired nanyo fretless and it is ridiculous how well it plays, looks and sounds for £260! I'm over the moon :-)

I like to keep an open mind so I'm going to try attaching one of my wife's hair ties to a bass when I get home.

Thanks Delberthot, for your response to the "hair bobble" thing. I have been playing bass with my fingers for a similar number of decades and have never needed anything else. Amen! Thought I had fallen into a coma and missed something. Lol :-)

Hi, A fretless Nanyo estimated by the seller to be a 1988 is on its way to me and I've just registered as had no idea about this bass collection till I stumbled across this site in what appears to have been a pleasing twist of fate. It's the serial number sticker "27350 Japan" that's interesting as it conflicts with the theory of the 6 digit format and the first two numbers representing the year. Now I've chucked that in there, I would love to hear any of your thoughts as to its history while I wait like a kid in a toy shop for my bass to be delivered.
