  1. Bright onion looks good! I hadn’t considered whether I want to have the option of A and B simultaneously but thinking about it it might be useful. Will the bright onion do that? Like the fact it’s passive too...

Thanks for the boss LS 2 suggestion too! I’ll look into it...

  2. Hi guys, want to start using my novation bass station synth in my band so was wondering the best way to put that and my bass through the pedal board simultaneously? Obviously the synth is line level so I’m wondering if I need a kind of reverse splitter with some kind of signal reduction? I guess as always there are a number of solutions so all recommendations gratefully received!
    Thanks!

Btw - you've got some very impressive gear listed. I see you're a bit of an Aguilar fan; if you're playing live in London in the near future let me know - I'd love to hear a DB 750 in action!

Thanks Al... yes I love the db750. Really sounds like thunder but warm and tameable too. Unfortunately my bands are not gigging so much currently so it’s kind of semi-retired right now. Don’t think I could ever let it go even though my th500 with two sl112s does a pretty amazing job without destroying my back! :-) I saw someone selling a dB750 on here a while back for £750 so I nearly bought a spare! Steal of the century! Treat yourself to one... you won’t regret it :-)

  4. Hi all, just wondering if anyone can offer advice on best position for my compressor on my board. I currently have it near the front end to smooth out the signal going into my octave and fuzz pedals. However this means my envelope filter isn’t as responsive as it might be and I have a hard time setting everything to unity. Wondering if the compressor should go at the end to prevent drastic volume changes when pedals are engaged? Is it just trial and error? Anyone experimented with a compressor at both ends? My signal chain is below... does it seem counter intuitive or glaringly silly? Any suggestions gratefully received!

  5. Hi all, a little advice needed if poss...

Have recently started a new project which is very expermental sonically so am finally getting to have some real fun with my pedal board! Been using my boss oc3 a fair bit and for whatever reason am just not getting off on the sound of it so am thinking of swapping it out for another. What suggestions do you have? I like that kind of synthy sound but am open to anything that tracks well and has an interesting character. Let me know what should be on my list to check out!
    Thanks in advance!

  6. Yes, an interesting read... thanks for sharing! Seems like a fuss over not much at all though... To my mind it feels a little ridiculous to expect companies to create entirely new designs... don't know anything about electronics but how different can you make fuzz pedal circuit and still make it a fuzz pedal? Like I said, I like what I've heard of the jhs 4 wheeler. Is it a bit expensive? yes but seems so many pedals are at that price point these days... do they base products around tweaks to existing designs? If it sounds good, not sure I really care! I do feel for companies that spent a fortune on developing a pedal only to have it cloned but I guess you know that's possible when you enter the pedal building arena...

  7. Hey Paul, does this have the stones/stoner switch like on the Catalinbread that allows it to operate as a high gain fuzz as well? Do you have any sound clips up anywhere?
    Thanks...

  8. Guys, looking for a fuzz pedal and really like some of the demos I've seen of the jhs 4 wheeler... after a bit of surfing I found a thread on another (inferior!) bass community and there was a fair amount of jhs bashing going on but no real explanation of why. Not sure if it was based on quality, reliability, price/value but I was surprised as their stuff generally sounds good to my ears! So was just wondering what your experiences of jhs in general, and in particular the 4 wheeler?
    Thanks in advance...

    Depends on the project.
Are you building a board for the sake of it, or do you need some other sounds for the music you play? That kinda determines what is 'essential' or not :)
The only pedal that is essential for me is a tuner, but if I want a few extra optional colours, I'll have my OC-2, envelope filter, maybe a little chorus and overdrive, high Octave etc

I don't feel I need this board for the bands I play in but I feel it'll be a lot of fun in the rehehearsal room and who knows... maybe tonally the effects might inspire me to approach things in a different way.

However, It's mainly because it's becoming increasingly difficult to hide bass purchases... pedals will be easier to keep under the radar whilst satisfying gas! ;-)

As above, if I'm gigging with just one pedal it's a light overdrive and DI - currently (and has been for a LONG time) the DHA VT1 EQ.

    Magic.

How do you power this? I've been looking at the voodoo lab 2 to power the board but it doesn't seem to provide the 1000ma required for this pedal??
