Another vote for the Squires. I’ve got on of the origial CV60’s and it has outlasted other Jazz basses ive had. Squier are well made these days and the necks are really nice.
Id vote against the Sires. As much as i loved my frist Gen it was heavy with a chunky neck, and as the briefings mentioned preferably passive id say look for passive basses rather than active and not use it.
A sire Jazz with a chunky Neck hmmmm

Sire V5. I have one, it’s awesome and would have saved me a lot of wasted money had it been around when I was a youngster! Only negative is weight, my mex P feels a lot lighter.
Id second this ,she wont go wrong with a Sire V5,can't be beaten for the price IMHO.

Bass Day Europe, in London. Whilst geographically correct, this might have folk of a certain political persuasion squirming in their chairs.
I did not use the B word, I may have alluded to it, but I think I’ve got away with it.
We are still in Europe last time I looked ya plank, just not in the EU ,have a word with yourself matey.

I'd be looking at the sire range to be honest, imho they can't be beaten on spec for the price you pay.

I always fancied being in a Beatles tribute band.that Paul McCartney geezer didn't half come up with some brilliant Bass Lines.
I'm on with this one at the minute, great line.

Looks like HMN233289 as you say, which would make it July 2016? Any other pictures?
Only just dug the Bass out having not played it for 6 years,I couldn't remember when I bought it so this throws some light onto the situation. I may be looking to sell it to fund another purchase. Or maybe not when i'm reminded just how good these sound and the build quality for the price as well.

That's what i thought regarding the letters and numbers. So 2016 then, that's great ,the power of Basschat shines through again. Thanks a lot but, How did you come up with that year and date. then?

HI, I'm unable to read the SN properly on the photo (my poor eye sight and low res screen) but I found this website: https://www.yamaha.com/YEC/Pages/Search/YECSerialNumberLookup.aspx which might help?
Wrong Link I think - this may be better - chrome-extension://efaidnbmnnnibpcajpcglclefindmkaj/https://www.yamaha.com/yamahaguitars/ElectricandBassGuitarSerialNumberSystems.pdf
Cheers, Darren.
Hi Darren,
When i zoom in with my phone picture it looks like the letters and numbers are HMN233289 .I maybe wrong though.

If i was selling on Ebay nowadays i would certainly be concerned about the little bit that says..Quote "Payment holds may apply" and worryingly i've read through the garb and i can't see any mention of the finer details of when they may apply this Payment Hold so people will have to draw their own conclusions as to what this may entail.
Introducing eBay Balance
From 16 October 2024, we’re introducing eBay balance, a new way to use your funds after you sell. You’ll be able to use your funds to shop directly on eBay or pay for things such as delivery labels, promote your listings, or to cover any selling needs.
Alternatively, you can withdraw available funds from your balance to your bank account - payment holds may apply. As your funds will be stored in your eBay balance, daily, weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly payout schedules will no longer be offered.-

If we are talking 82 then this was an absolute banger back then, okay it's a synth bass again but what the hell it's a mammoth sounding Bass Track all the same. Jazz funk mastery in it's finest form.

I ended up getting the Presonus Eris 3.5 BT Gen 2s as others have said they really are great for the brass. I am in no way affiliated to Presonus so it's not a plug.
I must admit though i did consider going down the cheap second hand HI FI Amp and cheap speakers but the only that did deter me was the lack of space i have i my little home Studio and the actual desk i have ,i would have needed a new one but couldn't afford one as i'm one of those rich pensioners that Kier keeps bangin on about.
Anyway a big thank you to all that posted with some excellent info on the subject.

Anyone recommend a decent set of Desktop PC speakers for around £100 to mainly play Youtube videos through when i'm practising.

I've seen the Police at smallish venues over the years up until 84 .The most memorable one being in 1979 at the Bridlington Spa,i was right at the front that night he was using a Fretless P Bass and it sounded sublime. That gig last night was nowhere near the power they pushed out in the late 70s.

The above article although it's a few years old has proved to me that after playing for 8 years i am very much much still in that learning curve everyone speaks about.
Some great info here and if it helps anyone else like it did me then all's good in the Bass world.

What can one say except to say that this is outstanding work and such a worthy cause as well very very fitting in remembrance to Nick.
The processes involved and machinery takes me back to my wood machining/bench joinery days where i was employed for 25 years in the manufacture of hardwood and softwood internal and external carved wood doors when they were all the rage. Now retired but i'm finding this very interesting indeed, that CNC Router looks the bees and the Planer Thicknesser as well as all the other kit all spot on .
Kudos to all involved.
I'll be buying a ticket
