5.
If I'm not mistaken the MDX2200 is two channel compressor/limiter/noise gate. I've not used the MDX2200 but I have used the MDX4600 which, I think, comes from the same "family". For basic use with your bass, you can safely ignore the side/chain and think of it as a 2-channel compressor. Yes, you should be able to use one side in mono. Check here for an explanation of compression... http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=337 Then go back and have a look at the controls on the MDX2200 and see how they fit in with that explanation. An expander/gate is a bit like a compressor/limiter. One is an extreme form of the other. For bass it's probably best either to ignore this section or just use it as a noise gate with a very low threshold so that it doesn't interfere with anything.
Thanks once again, Much Apriciated. Justin
 6.
This is as good an introduction as any: PcMus - Compressors Just make sure that stereo-coupling is off and use the undamaged side of the unit - the controls on the Behringer are pretty-much exactly as described. I think you have a string of LEDs showing 'gain reduction' (compression) too - if they don't light-up, you need to up the input gain or reduce the threshold, play around with the other controls and you'll soon get the hang. The limiter is useful, but set so it never quite comes on whilst playing, only when you bang all the strings with a large hammer. Small ratios sound more natural, large (over 4 or so) sound increasingly weird and distorted, and basically it starts to act more like a limiter - but you've got one of those after the compressor, so there's also little point...
Many thanks for that, I will take a look and see what i can do! Atleast i could still use it. Cheers Justin

 9. Welcome Andy! I am just over the water! (The Port) Cheers Justin.
 10. Hi, I am in the process of re-jigging my Rack System! Last year i purchased a Behringer effects unit along with the Behringer Composer Pro MDX2200? The Composer was damaged, The left side Expand/Gate control pots do not function as it had a bump by its previous owner? I could try and replace the board but do not have the time. I never go through the PA so could i use this unit using just one side in Mono? The main reason i havn't used it is i have no idea what it does realy and how to set it up in simple terms. I have read the instructions with no joy! Could anyone explain how this unit works and if i could still use it? It is like the one in the pictures! Any help would be great Many thanks Justin.

Yes the correct plug is the one sold by Qables.com. However i have found a replacement Lapel type mic complete with lead & plug for £12 posted on the net? I will have a go using the lead from the mic, If no good i will order one from Qables! Thanks for all your help Justin.

He makes up leads for wireless systems with the threaded mini jack so he'll know where they come from ... .
Spoke to OBBM - he hasn't used these plugs before as the thread is a male fitting. Thanks Anyway Justin.

 14. Hi, I have a Gemini Wirless System! I need to make a lead up? The unit used a head mic but now uses a lead for my bass, I have made a temp one but need a threaded collar Jack. It is a standard 3.5 Mini Jack to a screaned guitar lead but it needs a male thread to lock into my belt pack! Any Ideas! I have tried Maplin's but they do not supply them anymore. See Pics = OBBM has not come accros these before? http://www.geminidj.com/ux16L_lrgview.html I could buy a replacement lapell mic with the same fitting for £20 but seems a shame to butcher and is a little steap for a jack plug. Thanks Justin
 15. Yes, I can see where this is going? Thank you for your comments Justin

 21.
Personally i think ebony boards look brilliant on the right bass, but if you're making a fretted i think pau ferro would look pretty nice on that one, it has a nice grain/colour. If you're having a fretless though, ebony all the way.
Many Thanks once again, Forgot to mention, The fret inlays will look like the Alembic oval style. It will also have a 6 x Variable coloured LED system installed! Cheers Justin.
 22.
If you ask Ed Roman, the Gaboon Ebony is the real deal, but the Pau Ferro is OK but overpriced.
Thanks, I have already agreed a price so i just need to choose the fingerboard. There will be no extra charge for whichever i choose to use. Justin.
