1.
if it's something special then i would personally advise against a fret job. but of course it's not mine, it's yours. so its up to you at the end of the day ;)

fretless (especially un-lined) can take a while to get used to, so i'd give a while before making a final decision.
Good point! After all i wouldn't want to de-value it!

Looks like i will have to get practicing with it for now.

    Thanks

    Justin

so you don't think it's a bass if it hasn't got frets? ;)

if you don't mind saying, how much did you get it for? if it was a bargain, i wouldn't advise fretting it, you might regret it :P
It sounds amazing even acousticly, Just haven't master'd the art of playing fretless.

Just thought it would have made things a little easier for my playing if i had it lined / fretted etc?

I am not specificly looking for that fretless sound, Just thought it was to good to miss out on buying, Having sold an old Westone Thunder Bass and played my old mans Ibanez Musician, This seemed a mixture of the two and i loved using both of them.

    Cheers

    Justin.

  3. Hi,

Looking for some info on this Bass.

Picked it up this morning and it is superb, Only found 1 x Oakland Bass & 1 x Oakland Guitar on the net and they were in the US priced around $2500?

    Oakland Fretless Bass Specs =

    Neck through construction!

Ibanez Musician Styled head stock / neck

Original tuning pegs replaced with New Schaller M4S Series Tunning pegs (2+2)

    Brass Nut

    Passive electronics 4 x pots

1 x set of Precision neck pickups

    1 x Jazz Bridge pickup

    1 x 3 way toggle switch

Jazz / Precision style bridge with Brass Saddles

    Westone styled body!

I am curently thinking of having frets installed, This would make a lovely Bass. Any ideas, help or advice would be very much welcomed.

    Cheers

    Justin ;)

  4. Possibily Thinking of a change again! ;)

I have a Washburn Status 1000 in Mint Condition including an original custom made 5 star flight case!

Top spec with split laminated walnut body, Original Status Hardware and electrics.

    Walnut has lovely grain patterns!

Bass has a very very dark ebony/graphite looking fretboard, Frets are in good nick and action is nice.

Recent set of Elite strings fitted 45's! and a new battery.

The Bass has no scratches (Not even the usual buckle marks!) has one or two minor marks where the laquer has rubbed through but you realy do have to search for them!

These are becoming quite rare, Spent months trying to find this one,

Just putting the feelers out! Would consider swapping for either of the following?

    Westone Thunder lll
    Ibanez Musician
    Precision
    Jazz
    WHY!!!

Feel free to PM with offers etc!

    Cheers

    Justin. :P :)

PS = will send detailed pics as requested, will try and update post pics ASAP!

  5.
I was idly watching this one myself... 70s Japanese or possibly Korean - never heard of the brand but you see those big chrome TRCs on loads of Jap Fender copies from the era. Unusual to see it combined with full-size tuners, small cast-button ones are more common.

This also has a square chrome pickup, so you'll probably have some routing to do if you want to fit a conventional P pup. There will probably be 2 rows of poles on the pup, although these are single coil units, & usually pretty high output.

I can't really tell much more about it from that pic - post some good detailed ones when you get it, & we'll see what else can be deduced. :P

    Jon.
Thanks Jon!

I already have an old 70's P Body lying around which uses a similar setup including the chrome pickup!

Will have to see what it sounds like but should be easy enough to convert the pickup route etc!

I went for this bass having seen the tall tuning pegs, As you quoted they usually have dumpy little ones!

Will let you know what happens and post pics!

    Cheers

    Justin ;)

  6.
Powered Monitor by Carlsboro. Heavy. Handle is broken, Controls are scratchy, needs a damn good service. Works and is loud, 6 band graphic, knobs missing from sliders. 10" dual concentric driver. Cabinet is excellent, extension out to drive further monitors.

£15 plus a tenner to ship.

    PM'd Will Take it!

  7. Bought this bass recently from E@AY!

    Hasn't arrived yet!

Bought as a Precision type project, It has the tall vintage styled tuning pegs and a single pickup!

I have an old set of Dimazio Precision type pickups from an old Ibanez with a tortishell pickguard which i was going to use!

Any help or info on this bass would be great, Nothing has popped up whilst searching the Net!

Will add better pics when i recieve the bass. Pic taken from add.

    Cheers

  8. Hi, I am in a Trio! called The BLACK J's.

Got together with a drummer and guitarist back in December. We maily play our own material and have had a few recordings at MADDOG STUDIO'S in North Wales. Recorded a few live takes in rehersal which can be listened to on our Myspace site!

Our style can be described as a Dark Driven Blues / Rock & Grunge sound! We cant realy sing but we have a bash as it gives a real dirty sound!

Got our first gig this thursday night at the Tivoli in Buckley (North Wales).

Click on Black J's on my signature for a link to Myspace site!

    Cheers

    Justin. ;) :P

  9. Looking for a little help here guys?

I currently use the BOSS GT6-B Multi Effects unit which is as new and has its original box/manual etc!

Thinking of trading it for single units as i tend to use the same old functions =

    CHORUS

    REVERB

    OVERDRIVE / FUZZ / DISTORTION!

I have compression built into my rig with footswitch?

Trades or advice welcome, My Rack tuner has packed in so anything considered!

Basses, Effects, Rack Tuners ETC ETC !!!!

    Cheers

    Justin. ;)

  11. Sorted, Just bought a 500w Aluminium coned Behringer 2x10 (BA210) = £109 delivered to the door next day!

Hopefully it will handle my HA5000 head on its own when in practice & STACK WHEN LIVE?

This is the sort of money i had at the time and if it fry's then i will re-load the cab!

Thanks for all your help especially Paul!

    Happy new year!

    Justin.

  12. Some interesting comments lads!

I must admit i have thought about the 2x10 Transporter cab only being 150w (8ohm)

Not sure weather i need to be looking at a higher spec cab, Although the whole rig wont be Hartke then?

On a Budget the new Behringer Ultrabass 600w 2x10 retails around £133?

I have also got to consider using the 2x10 on its own with the HA5000 head for rehersals etc! Needs to handle the power!

    Any other thoughts on this?

Thanks for all your input so far.

    Justin.

  13. I am using a Hartke HA5000 head,

I was looking for a 210 cab to go with my rig and split the high & lows etc!

This would also be handy for transporting to rehersals!

I have found a 300W powered 210 cab (230W as it is) 300W when using an extension cab!

Could i still power both cabs from the Hartke in Bi-Amp mode,

    Any Help would be great!!

    Justin. :)
