1.
I'm in the market for a back up amp - a couple of questions if you don't mind....what does " a little servicing" mean and will it be loud enough through 2x8ohm Aguilar 112s for small - medium sized gigs?
Everything works fine! I have tested both sides of the amp using a Peavey 115 BW Cab 4ohm?

Having been stored away for a while just thought whoever wants to use it on aregular basis could treat it to a once over (Switch cleaner etc etc) as a few pots & slides are a little crackly when moved.

Nothing major - Will show working for any potential buyer!

I have just placed it on Ebay but will withdraw the item if anyone wants it!

    Cheers

    Justin.

  2.
I'm extremely envious. My all time favourite band and a project I'd just love to do, but just can't find any musicians around here to do it. The closest I've ever got was doing Watcher of the skies in a proggy trib band I was in.

Nice to see you're doing the proper old stuff before Genesis went all pop :)
Thanks!

The drummer contacted me having played in a three piece with him a while back, He almost landed a position with the Liverpool based CARPET CRAWLERS a while back but there drummer decided to stick with them!

He is a true fan, not to mention a cracking drummer, I myself hadn't even heard all the Peter Gabriel stuff so i had my work cut out!

We will be playing numbers up until late 70's maybe even 1981?

  3.
Was there a lot of Moog Taurus for the drone on the original Squonk?

I'll have to get an old copy out, lol
Indeed! Havent got that sort of cash?

Lots of experimenting with various pedals & Multi FX's!

Not a bad sound! If all goes well and things move in the right direction i may have to look at the Moog Taurus!

    Cheers! :)

  4.
Are we talking the entire Supper's Ready here?

That's quite an achievement to get all of that lot sorted already :)

Must have sounded a b it odd without keys on some of those some of those?

So were you stamping and shouting a lot
We played a few mins of suppers ready (Vocals & Guitars!) then whilst holding in the same key we introduced the Cosmic Lawnmower, The rest is history?

I am using a few synth sounds and it sounds great, Once we have Keys it will be fantastic?

Strainge realy, you can practicaly hear evey note from the keys without it even being there? :D

Had to De-Tune to get a lovely deep drone in SQUANK!

Realy need someone on keys ASAP!

    Cheers

    Justin.

  5. Well! Today was the day all band members joined together for the first time? ;)

I must admit we were all blown away by the sound! :D Note for note perfection just lacking Keys as the Keys Player dropped out last minute.

All my effects sounded great, Even the Cosmic Lawnmower was spot on!

    We went through =

    SQUANK

    FLY ON A WINDSHIELD

    IN THE CAGE

    AFTERGLOW

SUPPERS READY = INTO = I KNOW WHAT I LIKE

    & DANCE ON A VOLCANO.

Hopefully this is the start of another great NORTH WEST BASED TRIBUTE!!!

Thanks for all your input on my original "WHAT HAVE I LET MYSELF IN FOR" post!

    Cheers

    Justin :)

  6. Once again i must say a big thanks to Bassbunny & Dave.C,

Having recieved a number of parts to complete my precision project (absolutely free), I am over the moon.

Very kind of you to assist me in locating a pair of Black Widdows too Stu & meeting up!

And to you Dave for sending your parts completely free of charge?

    Cracking members,

    Cheers :)

  7.
And these also North West based.

Thanks for the links and your comments guys!

If i can do my homework and nail the basslines etc then we should be fine, The guitarist & Drummer are outstanding?

They are still looking for keys, Lead vocals & perhaps a second drummer!

Should give me a month or so to take it all in?

    Thanks again

    Justin. :)

  8.
You'll need some Taurus bass pedals to get the really authentic Rutherford bass sound :)

Ricky for the faster melodic high end parts and the pedals for a great big hefty drone sitting underneath everything.

A really core part of the early Genesis sound.

Personally I think Rutherford was a fine bass player but kinda lost it when Steve Hacket left and he got the opportunity to play lead guitar (he'd always played a fair bit of 12 string).
Nice one fella!

  9.
You'll be in competition with these guys

    http://www.losendos.co.uk/
The thing is its something a little different! Our drummer is Genesis mad and has auditioned for a few major tribute band that tour all over the world!

Having had no luck with his last audition as they took there original drummer back on board he has decided to start his own tribute!

Not realy looking to copy sets/ clothing etc just good old music!

    Cheers

    Justin.

  10.
That's what I was wondering. I do know Rutherford had a twin-neck bass/guitar jobbie - Shergold, I believe. Decent guitarist and decent bassist.

Wait, wasn't Rutherford bassist while Hackett was guitarist? I don't know my prog. I should be ashamed of myself. :)
The handy thing is i also play guitar and have done for many many years more than the bass so should be interesting!

  11. Well, having recieved a telephone call today from an old drummer i once played with, I was offered the opertunity to join a new Genesis Tribute Band forming in the North West! :D

I must admitt this drummer is amazing and seemed to good an offer to turn down!

My current band plays mainly our own material and i will still continue to play with the Black J's, i have only been with them a few months. Thought it would be a nice change to give a tribute act a go.

Better start learning a few tracks as we are looking at playing the older material from 1967 = 1975?

    Let the Downloads commence?

    Cheers

    Justin :)

  12. Hi Lad's / Ladet's

Many thanks for the number of trade offers that came flooding in, including several cash offers in excess of £350.

I have decided to hold onto this bass for the time being, Having played a gig last week then hearing a number of comments on how this bass sounded was amazing!

Everyone has advised me to hold onto it so that is what i will be doing.

    Kind Regards

    Justin.
