  2. Sorry, yes the neck does have the wonderful and fantastically good looking pearl block inlays (and all of them are original and there are no breaks). The LEDs are on the side of the neck (as you look down at them). Pictures will be added as soon as humanly possible! I'm in the process of buying a new digi camera, so higher res. ones will be forthcoming in the next few days as well :-)
  3. Hi everyone, I'm going to be buying a new full size arcade machine (yes, yes I always find it strange what other people get up to in there spare time as well) so I need to get rid of a guitar. This is a great condition 1973 Sunburst Fender Jazz Bass. The guitar itself is in very nice condition with some cosmetic damage in the usual places, but I think this is correctly termed 'Mojo', and have never bothered me (my other basses are much more beat up than this). The bridge, tuners, scratchplate and more are all original. The pickups are changed ones and I don't really know a great deal about them. The pots were changed at the same time too. The neck has the original frets and plays beautifully, however at some point the previous owner decided to get LEDs in place of the original fret markers. These are no bigger than the top of a pin and have never caused me any issues. for authenticity, I thought I'd mention it. If you want to be showy I assume you could get these reconected if you so wish. There aren't any pickup covers, and I currently have a wonderfully functional Gator case for this one. The guitar is for sale at £1100, but if it's cash then you guys can have it for £1,000. I'm based in Bristol, and anyone is more than welcome to come down and try it out, she's a lovely guitar. If you need info, by all means PM me here (although I have had some issues with this previously), or email me at: [email protected] (I answer this once or twice a day). I will get some pics when I can, although this is likely to be tomorrow now... Any questions, please ask before I'm going to have to ebay this beauty :-(
  4. Has it got the pickup covers as well? Also, is the case fully functional?
  5. I would say that £3,500 is a high price. You can still pick up pre-CBS Fenders for under that price, and they are always going to be collectible. For reference, the last one of these I saw was a custom coloured one in Denmark Street (white with matching headsotck) at £3,500. They would have been selling this either having bought it for around £2,000 or with 15% commission (bringing the sellers total to less than £3,000 in the end). For what it's worth, I'd say it was over-priced, and I would say nearer £2,500 would be a fair price for it. At that price I'd still plump for a Pre-CBS Precision and wait for them to come back into vogue. But for a player, 66' is up there with the early 60's in terms of build quality and playability, so I bet she's sweet. The necks on these are soooo gorgeous!

  7. I'll buy it. PM me the details, but I'm not going to be on the internet now till Monday. Cheers, Lawrie
  8. I also have a set of early 70's volume knobs if you want them... Might help with the sale.
  9. I think £1k is pushing it. There's a 75 original bass on ebay with a changed guard at £1399 from Musicground, never the most modest sellers. I'd price this bass (with the changes) more at the £700 to £800 mark. I bought an all orig 73 for £900 a few weeks ago, and they're still available. Whatever quality the refin, it's going to knock the price into touch. An all orig 75 in CAR... I've never seen one... Good luck with the sale... It looks a beauty.
  10. I've owned: 1966, 1968, 1969, 4 x 1973, 3 x 1975, 2 x 1976, 5 x 1978, 2 x modern USA - USA Fender Jazz Basses Noel Redding Jazz, 2 x Geddy Lee Basses, about 10 x Fender Jap Jazzes 1974, 1976, 3 x 1978, 1980, 1983, and a few othe USA P Basses 3 or 4 Japanese ones (best one was shell pink Couple of Wals Couple of Stingrays 20 or so 'crappy' basses. I've had over a hundred I guess (I build them as well) so I know what I want in a bass, which is the primary benefit of having all these. However, I now only have 3. I guess when you've had a room full of 20 odd guitars, the 3 you reach for most regularly are the ones you keep I guess. They're all jazz basses, they're all vintage ones and they all play brilliantly!
