Mmmm nice. I had a headless Roscoe 4 which was lovely. Always wanted one with a headstock. Must not look!

Thanks for the update! Any idea whether those containers might contain any of the bass DI and DI+?

Aha, mystery solved. Wishing you a quick and agreeable sale!

Interesting, yours has the tug bar/finger rest thingy or whatever you call it. Mine does not, albeit mine was newer, but I always found it interesting that it has the holes drilled for one, even if it's missing.

Wooten's sound is awful, even if I respect his ability.

That was great, thanks for sharing. Perfect for a Friday.

For the last week I have been daily, sometimes twice, receiving Google verification codes by text message. I haven't requested them and they don't say what account they are for, I have five. I check them all and there is no suspicious activity.
I don't know what to make of them yet, possibly leading to some sort of scam or maybe someone else has set up their account with the wrong phone number.Me too and many others. https://support.google.com/accounts/thread/235285575
I've changed my passwords, removed the verification phone and switched to a TOTP code, but still the texts continue.

Isn't that a Thunder III?

Once I'd reached what I consider an unreasonable number of instruments (for me, 4), I decided that it was one in one out from now on. I'm now at the stage where I don't want any of the basses to go, so I'm not GASing.
-
Nice, and you can buy them separately can you? Just a drop-in replacement on a precision?
-
What are they?

That's a shame. Both lovely basses.
I already have a Super P, but would love to hear about the Stellartone thing, and what you didn't like about the original electronics. I never turn it into the scooped area.
Sorry if it's a sale derail!

Yes, but it's not the weight of the whole string that matters, it's the mass per unit length.
Sorry if I'm being really dim here, but if I know the mass of the whole string, and I know the length of the whole string, then can't I calculate the mass per unit length? Admittedly with the string that goes beyond the nut and the bridge, it's an approximation.

Thanks for responding @EssentialTension
But wouldn't the scale length and pitch be the same for any string you wanted to put on your bass?
What's compliance? Do you mean how pliable the string is?

You can't tell tension from gauge alone or flat/round alone.
It's mass per unit length of string that matters (plus scale length plus pitch). Hence the internal construction of the string makes a difference because it makes a difference to the mass per unit length.
The same internal construction with a larger gauge will mean higher tension (at same scale length and pitch) but if the internal construction changes then there is no straightforward telling of the effect on tension from a different gauge.
This is complicated by the fact that tension ought not to be confused with compliance or elasticity which is not the tension of the string at pitch but its feel (or perception) under the fingers. Like tension, compliance is affected by internal string construction - e.g. hexcore/roundcore - but possibly by other factors that have no effect on tension such as break angle at the nut.
http://www.liutaiomottola.com/myth/perception.htmSorry for reviving such an old thread, but does this mean that we can determine the relative tension of strings by weighing them?

The number of options for learning and improving is so great now that I think it's easier to learn. I was teaching myself in the 80s, and the one lesson I had from a teacher was fairly useless (he was convinced the machines were coming, and all bassists were out of a job, so why would I even want to learn?).
I've done a few SBL courses, and watched so much Youtube to pinpoint things I want to focus on. I definitely play better now at 55 than I did at 18 (which was probably my first peak).

There were customs charges unfortunately yes, came to 20% so if you did order you essentially need consider that in as a part of the package price. Still came out to cheaper than an MIM Fender these days, so I wasn't too fussed and Danny gave me quality estimate charges and made me clear and aware of everything. He was a pleasure to deal with for sure.
Thanks for the info, that's useful!

Nice bass. What happened about customs?

I'd love to hear about the neck profile if you have time, as I'm considering one of these at some point in the future. The only necks I have not been able to handle are the ones which are wide but shallow. A bit of depth to the neck and I'm fine.

Nice! How close to a vintagey P-bass can the TM4 get?
