The Huey Lewis cover of the Phil Lynott tune, Giving It All Up For Love. Verse and Chorus are easy enough, but the solo section is currently well above my pay grade ...

Our lead guitarist, Liam Kane, has put out his second solo single, Valley of the Kings. So if you like your music to be unencumbered by a vocalist, then this might be a tune to your liking.

Family Tree by Megadeth I think is a great piece of music, with a really cool bassline. But the subject matter of abuse in the lyrics I find quite uncomfortable to listen to, so I do usually hit the skip button when that track gets to the chorus.

We have released our latest album to all the major digital platforms today (CD a bit delayed, but should be available sometime next week). First track, 24 Hours of Freedom, features a guest vocal from Blaze Bayley and a solo on the Hammond Organ from Derek Sherinian.

My taste in music was pretty much influenced by what my friends listened to in their late teens / early 20s. Thus I initially went to gigs with them. Then I got into bands in the genre of music I like, rock / metal, which meant a bigger circle of friends with similar tastes in music, and more people to attend gigs with.

But there has been times when I have ventured to gigs on my own, Status Quo was the band I struggled with the most over the year to get folk to come along with me. Though when I did manage to drag someone along they invariably did enjoy it.
 

Bought a Charvel bass for £200 back in 1994 and it is the only bass I currently own.

New video for the song Zombie Train, a track about the commute to work I no longer have to endure since CoVid has had me working from home for the last two years.

Had a go at creating an animated video for one of our old songs. Used Vyond, I think the main purpose for it is to do work presentations, but seems to have enough options to be able to produce a few videos for out songs.

Satriani made the following comment about Michael Anthony when they were playing together in Chickenfoot - "Why in VAN HALEN was Mike Anthony not allowed to play more... he's a fantastic musician and an enormous force on that bass guitar. Every day we would record I would go, 'This is amazing!' I never knew he could fill up this void so much, because I'd be used to hearing him on VAN HALEN tracks where he basically just followed Eddie. It was great to hear the real Michael Anthony just come alive on the record and take up all that space."

I’ve given the album a couple of spins now, think it is a very enjoyable listen. Some amazing playing throughout and the production is one of their best, all the instruments come through clearly. There is nothing on it that I don’t like, well probably a few noodly intros that could quite easily be edited out. Though I don’t think that is as a big a problem here as on the last few albums.

But on the other hand, don’t find anything particularly exciting, making me want to raise my fist in the air. Or particularly memorable. Enjoyable listen when I have it on, but nothing sticks out, no hooks or choruses that are replaying in my head after. Maybe this will come with some repeated listens. 

All in all, pretty happy with it, overall a good listen, but no real exceptional moments that stand out and demand to be played again immediately. I mean if Wasted Years, for example, comes on my MP3 player, there is a good chance once the song is over that I’ll give it a second listen before moving on to the next track. At the moment I don’t find anything like that on this album.
