  1. Yeah BA Robertson is credited with writing the song along with Edmonds, I'm assuming Noel would have given a hand with the lyrics as opposed to the music. I haven't seen anywhere who played on the recording, on Robertson's wiki entry it says along with writing it he contributed backing vocals. He also wrote the theme for Swap Shop which was on the b-side of the single, which I quite like, particularly the guitar solo.

  2. For those of you of a certain vintage that grew up in the UK, then you will remember the Saturday morning kids programme, Swap Shop. Some of you might even possibly remember that the three presenters, Noel Edmonds, Keith Chegwin and Maggie Philbin released a single, I Wanna Be A Winner, under the name, Brown Sauce. It was a top 20 hit in the charts.

So my band, Vantage Point has released a cover of it, which meant I had a go at playing the bass line that Maggie put down all those years ago.

You can remind yourself on Maggie on her Rickenbacker here -

While the cover can be heard on the digital platform of your choice.

  3. Is the First Friday of the Month again, so we have put out a new song. Not an original this time as we have covered the Huey Lewis & the News track, Don't Make Me Do It.

  4. Having a go at track, I Think We're Alone Now, at the Dreadnought in Bathgate, with my covers band, Easily Distracted. We were a last minute replacement for a band that pulled out, and played to practically no-one, well the other band, bar staff, sound guy and a couple of punters were there. But it was still enjoyable to be back on stage as it was my first gig of 2023.

  5. Living Daylights for me, love the film, the song and Dalton is my favourite Bond. The only downer about that movie for me was the tie in computer game on the ZX Spectrum, no matter how many times I tried, I could never get past the first level.

  6. For those that like the bass guitar prominent in the mix, then the new instrumental track from our lead guitar, Liam Kane, could be for you. Available on all the digital platforms except YouTube for some reason, hopefully it will appear there soon.

  7. In the main I am still purchasing CDs, which I do listen to on the hi-fi at home or in the car, as it is still old enough to have a player. Then I also rip them for my MP3 player for use when out, particularly in the gym. As I don’t want to have to connect to the internet to listen to music while out and about, and I don’t really want my smartphone in my pocket as I’m working out. Which means I am slightly concerned that my choices of MP3 player is going to diminish during the next few years as industry seems to think everyone is happy to listen to music
    Through their phone.

As for the streaming platforms, I do have a free Spotify account and listen to it quite regularly when I am on the laptop and online for some reason. On Spotify I either listen to different music that I don’t like enough to purchase, or bands I do like are making a bit more money out of me where I have bought the CD, and occasionally listen to it online as well.
