1. If you don't want to read the introduction and get straight to it, find the question below (in bold) I've always thought that I've got a fairly broad range of music types to get my inspiration from, however I don't feel confident setting up my bass tone to fit differing styles of music. Being a beginner student, I don't have a lot to work with in comparison to some of the gear w**res on the forum due to cash issues. However, I'm asking you, the BassChat faithful, to help me alter settings on a simple setup to produce these styles. Using just a Simple Bass (Squire P-Bass?), a MAX of 1 pedal and a low-end bass amp, how would you emulate bass tones through the ages? Any input is greatly appreciated. I'm up for anything to help me figure out my ideal bass tone! P.S. Started as a result of reading Beedsters recent thread.
2. Having read alot of news about Nine Inch Nails and Trent Reznor since they were finished with their record label, I'd always been interested to see what they'd come up with. It's definately interesting and the album title is fitting. Given that well over 36 tracks (the rest aren't mastered/mixed yet) were created in the space of 10 weeks is amazing. You can download it, or buy it here. Scorchin
3. Would you be willing to sell seperately? If so, how much for the combo? Thanks, Scorchin

5. I'll have a set (maybe two) of the D'Addario EXL165 if your willing to wait till 5th September. Scorchin
6. Hey, I'm 18. Been playing the French horn since I was 11, only recently turned my hand to bass. Will be a year since I picked it up this September! I play through a Fender Squier Affinity P-Bass into a Laney RB-1. Effects: Boss ODB-1, SYB-5. On a totally different note, overwater#1 I want that Trace Elliot GP11 1x15 combo! Any chance you'd sell it? Scorchin
7. One more to add: RHCP - Higher Ground (I know Stevie Wonder did the original, but better quality recordings exist of flea producing that sweat funky sound)
8.
This is a really cool thread because there's so many great basslines. I doubt you could say that about how many great 'rythym guitar' parts there are!
Very true. To be fair, it's the bassline that gets people nodding their heads along. Something that my bass tutor says almost everytime I have a lesson .
9. What's your favorite baseline ever. I'm into loads of different styles of music, but for me the three that come to mind are:

Massive Attack - Angel (Saw them live at last years o2 wireless festival. As soon as Angel began it was as if the earth was about to crack beneath me)
The Chemical Brothers - Block Rockin' Beats (A bit repetitive I know, but is instantly recognisable as a result)
Pink Floyd - Money (Had to be added here, probably one of the more interesting bass lines due to its timing)
What's yours?
10. A remarkable collection. For me the last two are the ones i'd like to grab off you I'm just starting out on bass with my *coughs* Fender Squire P-Bass. Been playing 1 year come beginning of September. Who knows, I might end up running rings around my bank account and have major GAS attack like yourself one day.
11. Definately recommend the Etymotic ER-20's, found them cheapest here: http://www.audilo.co.uk/ER20-Hi-Fi-Musicia...s-pr-16138.html $8.99 and bit more for delivery. Arrived within 3 days. Scorchin
12. Why not just create a module for IPB using a 5-star rating php script. Most of these are openly available using some sort of AJAX system. Shouldn't be too hard to use the IPB API and create a script which works by altering an two extra columns in the users table that has an assigned number to it. e.g., "rating" and "rating_count" hold the total rating and number of ratings given, respectively. Then you'd just let "rating" add up and divide by "rating_count" to give the actual rank out of 5. A simple average is made
