  1. **Now Sold**

For sale is this stunning Pedulla MVP-4 custom bass guitar. This beautiful bass was lovingly handcrafted in the USA in 1991 by master luthier Michael Pedulla.

The bass is completely original except for the strings.

The unique and beautiful body shape of the bass allows for excellent balance when playing sitting or standing. The bass is lightweight at only 3.9KG / 8.6lb, so you can easily play longer gigs without having to visit a chiropractor the next day!

Included in the sale is the original Pedulla hard case and an original truss rod adjustment tool.

As many of you may already know, Michael Pedulla has retired, so no more Pedulla basses are being made. Therefore, this is a rare opportunity to acquire one of his incredible instruments while you still can.

This bass is now 32 years old, but it has been well cared for over those 32 years. However, it is not a "case queen" and has been played a lot during that time. Therefore, while it is in very good condition for its age, it does have some minor cosmetic flaws that you would expect on any used instrument. These defects include tarnishing of the gold fittings, some dents that have resulted in small chips in the varnish and paint (some of which have been previously stained), cracks in the varnish along the side of the fingerboard. It is important to note that these are not structural defects, but merely minor visual imperfections. Please look closely at the photos to see these minor imperfections - I have carefully photographed the bass to show all of them so you know exactly what you are getting.

The reason this bass is not a "case queen" is, of course, because it is an absolute killer bass and you will not want to put it down once you have played it! I am only selling it because I now only play 5-string basses and so this bass needs a new home.

An ambitious price for a homebuild but I'm sure the tweed hardcase for an extra £70 is worth it ( he even overcharges for this)!

the build quality makes it quite obvious this person knows what they are doing. Do you not place any value on this persons time and the materials used?

I would happily pay that much for such an instrument.

    Hi All,

I have an old black Aria bass that has a fair bit of battle damage, chips and scratches and I have been thinking about having her refinished in the original black, but from my initial research it’s a very expensive process and have also read a few horror stories, can anyone recommend a reputable refinish company?

    Cheers,

    Steve.

Would help to know where you are based. I had a bass refinished by a guy in the West Midlands for about £200 and was very happy with it.

Up for sale is a very rare collectors piece - an SKC Carbon Bogart Blackstone 20th Anniversary model. This bass is number 7 of only 20 pieces worldwide!

For those of you unfamiliar with SKC Bogart basses:

The core is surrounded by a special integral foam, which has excellent resonance properties. The outer shell of the body is made of glass fiber reinforced gelcoat, which is extremely robust and impact resistant.

Not only does this bass have these unique build characteristics to give it unrivaled tonal qualities, but it is also very ergonomic. The bass balances beautifully seated or standing and it is very lightweight at only 4,05Kg/8,93Lbs

    Features:

    Bogart composite body

34" scale Carbon neck with phenolic fingerboard.

  5. John (@John Hunt) recently purchased a Warwick Corvette from me.  I am based in Germany and John is in the US - this international transaction went without a hitch and most importantly, John is happy with the bass.

John was a very pleasant guy to deal with and I am happy to recommend him as a buyer without hesitation.

Beats? Silvercrest? Should the heading be: "Cheap headphones from China"? Why is it so hard to save a bit more and buy some quality?

Every time I see text "cheap", it makes me wonder how many Chinese kids or slaves were involved.

You seem to be making an assumption that anything "from China" must lacking quality... This is a very antiquated view and you are not doing yourself any favours with it...Same goes for your views regarding child labour and slaves. Chinese labour is cheaper, it doesnt mean they are using children or slaves. Any reputable Chinese manufacturer will have stringent anti child labour regs in place.

Cases don't scream MEC, they look high gloss plastic.  Unless the gloss is from heavy wear?  Which would explain why the logos are gone.

I'd wager they are the original MEC pickups if the bass makes no sound without a battery with the push-pull switch up? As there aren't many aftermarket active pickup options.

They are the original pups, this is my old bass. They have "made in germany" stamped on the back so will either be MEC or Schaller

Very good point and you are right re. charges, they are cheaper than PP or the bank.  Only issue can be some folk think it is a scam and refuse to use the service!

For me it's the best of both worlds, best rates and lowest fees.

Yeah I can understand re. Scams- but it's really only if they are sending you money that they need to "use" Wise.com and create an account etc. With a little Googleing though it should be easy for anyone to see it is a legit site.

Otherwise you just use your Wise.com account and send them the money directly to their bank account - exactly like any international bank transfer.

    @ReeV0

Like the lads have said it's VAT on the bass/shipping/insurance + import duty.

Then there's 2 other things to consider.

Admin fee for collecting VAT/Duty. About £10

Exchange rates. XE currency converter is showing £1 = $1.20.

Sadly there's little chance you'll get that.

RBS, Halifax and Natwest rates are £1 = $1.16; Halifax have a £9.50 handling fee.

Rate with PayPal is just $1.15 + £3 handling fee.

Credit cards fare slightly better , around $1.17, but most carry a % handling fee

To ensure you receive the best rates for all international transfers, use a service such as Wise.com (formerly TransferWise).

They give you the actual market rates for the currencies in question and their fees are incredibly reasonable.

I have used them countless times without any issue.
