Sandberg's are really underrated! They are very high quality instruments with incredible ergonomics and tone!

Right, finally got this sorted after much phoning around! So basically the only option, should you find yourself in this situation, is to use a third party insurance provider to provide transit cover.
There are a few of these companies about but seemingly only one that will cover goods in transit from one private individual to another. The company is called theinsurancebroker.com
Tò give you an idea of the cost, for £4000 of coverage shipping to Europe, it's £65. For the rest of the world, £93.
Not cheap I know but actually not too bad when you consider the alternative...
Hopefully this post will prove helpful - I just wonder how many people are shipping their basses from the UK not knowing they are not even covered by most couriers insurance???

If this bass could only talk is the name of the album. He uses a second bassist on some tracks, a guy called James Earl who I think played a 6 string bass, night have been a 5.
I actually have that album, just not played it through -oops!
Here is Mr Miller's version btw:

Stanley Clarke did a nice version of this.
Will have to check that out. Personally I love Marcus Miller's version - some really lovely fretless playing going on!

The problem is quite simple, almost all couriers shipping FROM the UK to any foreign country will only cover your musical instrument for £100 GBP and not any higher (read carefully the T&C). And don't forget to remove any battery as it will void the insurance.
The best option would be to deliver it yourself. I know, I know.
Argggh what a stupid scenario! I will have to see if there are third party companies who offer cover for such situations.

Ask Jens who he uses.
I will do thanks. I was hoping to get done advice from people in the UK though so that it would hopefully be more relevant to my situation.

I think it’s UPS and it ain’t cheap!
One tuning peg including shipping was $85.
And UPS have the clause in their shipping cover that limits compensation for damage to £100 and lost in transit to £2000.
Not much good when you're trying to ship a Ritter FFS!!!

It’s probably best to book direct with the courier rather than through an intermediary. DPD are very good as are FedEx and UPS. My Modulus came from the States via Fedex.
thanks for the advice. unfortunately, having read their t+c's they only offer £100 compensation for damage but will happily charge you a small fortune to insure it nonetheless!
anyone else have any ideas? surely I cant be the only person in this situation???

With the ride on mower as a trade in?

Can you recommend a courier please for shipping expensive basses internationally. I normally use Interparcel but their insurance limit is 2K where as I need to ship a bass worth twice that.

The shape isn't for me personally(though i am pleased it isnt yet another fender clone) but the build quality and wood choice looks absolutely top notch!

**Now only £3100 shipped worldwide**
**Sensible offers considered**
It's official, life really isnt fair - a month after being lucky enough to buy my dream bass my car has been written off and so my beautiful Ritter will have to live on in my dreams only.
I could wax lyrical all day about how amazing this bass is but I dont need to because it's a Ritter and their reputation proceeds them. Suffice it to say they really are worth every penny of their not inconsiderable price tag!
What I will say is that this bass sounds and plays better than anything else I have ever owned and I have owned some very nice basses in my time: Warwick Dolphin Pro 1, Warwick Thumb NT, Warwick Streamer Stage 1 and 2, Wal, Yamaha TRBJP, Mike Lull to name a few.
The Ritter Roya is ergonomically and tonally perfect. The tone is definitely "hi-fi" with incredible clarity and definition, with the coil selectors, tone control and pickup blend even in passive mode you will likely find any tone you could ever want - bring in the 18v active parametric EQ with sweepable midrange and you have a greater tonal pallette than you will ever likely need.
The bass is in very good used condition - there are some very light marks on the back but you have to hold it at the right angle in the right light to see them - there are a couple of deeper marks on the bottom of the body and I have tried to show these in the photos. The gold hardware is lightly tarnished but everything works perfectly as you would expect from an instrument of this calibre. Bass has been recently setup with new strings, frets have been polished, fretboard cleaned and oiled, currently set to have a very low action
For full specs please see below copy of the cetificate - I dont have the paper copy sadly.
The bass comes with its original hard case.
Worldwide shipping available at buyers cost, no trades thanks
Here are some videos of some very similarly specced Ritter Roya 5s to give you an idea of just how good they sound:

Beautiful bass but I'm not sure it's a $$ given the pickup configuration

Beautiful bass and fair price.
AFAIK these necks that are mostly Wenge are immune to the cracks the other necks from this era suffered.

Wow that is a seriously good looking bass!
Looks like a fodera without the eyewatering price tag!
