- Do any of the function bands out there play bars/pubs for not a lot of money (I've read through the gigs vs money thread and there are some interesting points raised there) in the hope that it will raise their profile, and treat it a bit like free advertising?

    - Do you advertise with any of the pay to advertise sites? I'm on most of the free ones, but I was wondering if anybody had particular success with any paid ones?

    - Do you get gigs mainly through agents, website, word of mouth or is it a mixture of all three?
the function band i play with do pub gigs as it a good way to get our name about and it also means that if any potential clients want they can check out the band before they make a decision

as for advertising we use free sites but have also paid to get advertised in stuff like wedding mags but tbh weve not really got much work via the paid advertising

most of our work seems to come from the website (this has really paid off since our drummer worked out how get us to the top of google search), word of mouth and online advertisng. we keep clear of agents due experiences a couple of the guys had in a previous band and tbh i dont think we are any worse off for it

    hope that helps

  3.
Hi there Brick!

Don't suppose you'd accept a Fender MIM 60th Anniversary Jazz Deluxe 5 (the one with the noiseless pickups etc) plus some cash? It's Black with tort pickguard and rosewood neck. Always fancied a Sandberg!

    Cheers,

    Jake
cheers for the offer dude but its not for me

  4. Putting this for trade up for no other reason than I just fancy a wee change of gear

Guessing that if you’re reading this you know what these basses are about. loads of tonal options due to the pick up and pre amp controls, aside from the control for balancing the pick ups there is a switch that changes the DeLano MM from humbucker to single coil + the volume control is a push/pull pot which is used to switch the bass between active and passive mode

The bass has been my main gigging bass of late and has suffered a few dings as a result, but these are only minor and in no way affect the way the bass plays or sounds

Im located in Dundee so would prefer to trade with someone near to me i.e. Glasgow or Edinburgh but would be willing to travel further if the offer is tempting

Interested mainly in MM5, Ray35, Yamaha TRB 5 mk1, Lakland but open other offers as long they are 5 string and not crazy expensive

open to sensible offers, oh and meant to say bass would be posted in gator hardcase

  5. Putting this for trade up (along with my Sandberg JM5 in my other thread) for no other reason than I just fancy a wee change of gear

These amps really are incredible sounding pieces of kit + the amount of volume they kick out is unreal especially when running at 4 ohm, the last couple of practices ive had it running through an 8 ohm 1x15 and 8ohm 4x10 and even with the master just 2 i was overpowering the noisy rock guitarist and drummer that I was rehearsing with

Im located in Dundee so would prefer to trade with someone near bye i.e. Glasgow or Edinburgh but would be willing to travel further if the offer is tempting

Intrested mainly in Eden, Tecamp, EBS HD350 and Phil Jones amps but open other offers

    up to yourselves though :)

hey dude i was really looking for someone who could teach at pretty advanced level, really should have mentioned that in OP

    Here's my new gear:

how u liking the Sandberg JM5?

bass set up of xmas past - Ventura 5 string POS & Peavey KB 100
bass set up of xmas present - Sandberg JM5, Markbass LMK & Aguilar GS112
bass set up of xmas future - Musicman 5, MTD, EBS HD350 & 2 4x10 cabs (i wish)

  9. As the post topic would suggest im looking to put my JM5 up for trade, its an awesome bass and has one of the most beautiful necks ive ever played on but TBH im starting to think that as lovely as the bass is that tonally its not for me, im guessing that this is due to the Alnico Delano pickups that the bass is fitted with. The bass (with the exception of a couple of small dings) is in very good condiotion and amazingly has no buckle rash on the back of the bass

Trade wise would be very intrested in a Musicman 5 string, Yamaha TRB5 mk1 and might be tempted by a Lakland 5 string but might be open to other trades as long as it has a low B

Unfortunately im located in Dundee so obviously this could throw a spanner in the works with any potential trade with folk south of the border

here is a couple of pics from camera phone until i can get some proper ones taken
