  1. I’ve have a replacement from Peach now that I’m happy with (though it did have a few issues I had to fix😬🤣). It sounds better too, it’s around 30% louder and has a fuller bass even though the pickups are lower so I think the other one has a preamp/pickup issue. My argument is they should never of glued those bits of wood together and sent it out of the factory. Guitarguitar will likely have a Cort account manger they can push back on stuff like this and get their money back, if that happens enough then Cort will have to improve their standards. For basses that they can’t get an acceptable match on, it would be better to spray them a solid colour, I’d of probably preferred that anyway.
  2. Let me correct you…. 1. OP buys a bass 2. Bass has a badly bowed neck, scratchy pots and the top is mismatched 3. OP returns bass and retailer says they will check the replacement before sending 4. Replacement bass isn’t book matched at all, worse still the wood on the other half is a totally different shade 5. Rather than ranting, OP post a picture on here to check other people’s opinions to make sure he is being reasonable in rejecting the bass 6. 90%+ of people who expressed an opinion think it is unacceptable 7. Possible millionaire owner of guitarguitar exiled somewhere in Belgium starts ranting on this thread🤣
  3. I’ve tried to be sympathetic too. They did say they’d check the bass before sending which they obviously didn’t so they only have themselves to blame. According to Google, guitarguitar has turnover of £45M/year and must spend a good couple of million with Cort, that has itself revenues of £6.6billion/yr These sort of faults/issues are the cost of doing business that they should easily be able to aborb into their costs based on their revenue not stitch up unlucky customers. I’m sure guitarguitar has enough clout based on its spend with Cort to push back on crappy quality control like this and get refunded on sub standard instruments. If customers don’t push back and retailers don’t push back on manufacturers then they’ll keep on pumping out crappy quality which isn’t good for anyone.
  4. Maybe I should offer to pay the return if they agree to swap their image to the pic of mine🤣 don’t think they’d sell many though
  5. They’ve not refused a return but they are stating there is nothing wrong with it so I’m liable for return costs. You’re never going to get a 100% perfect bass and if you look hard enough at any instrument you’ll likely find an imperfection and it’s more difficult to assess on a figured top like this, but there should be some basic standards. The reason I made this post with a picture was to sanity check I wasn’t being unreasonable in thinking this is unsuitable for sale. 9 out of 10 people who expressed an opinion wouldn’t be happy with it, so that tells me it’s not fit for purpose and they should take it back and cover the shipment cost. If it had been the other way round and 90% of people would have been happy with it, I’d have sucked it up and happily paid the return costs.
  6. But all of their marketing videos and pictures show matching tops, so it’s implied they at least be some sort of matching. if you bought a blue car and each panel was a different shade of blue, it wouldn’t be an argument to say, we gave you a blue car and never stated the panels had to be the same shade.
  7. Can’t think it’s good for business behaving like this. Based on the 30 people who expressed an opinion on this thread. 27 wouldn’t have been happy and would have sent it back. (90%) That means on average they will need to ship this bass (and have it returned) 10 times before they find somebody who is happy with it🤷‍♂️
  8. You would have thought so, I mentioned the neck was rough in addition to the cosmetic issue, but they’ve ignored that. I’ll continue the battle tomorrow
  9. I asked to escalate to a manager. They’ve now come back and said they can arrange collection for £25, which still doesn’t makes sense because 1. The bass has a fault, so I shouldn’t pay anything. 2. Their own policy is if you return a faulty guitar which they find to be non faulty, they then charge you £9.99 to cover the return shipping so where does £25 come from? The pics of the bass they have on their site aren’t mismatched like the one they sent me.
  10. It’s the online team. I think they’re based in Newcastle
  11. Only got it yesterday afternoon, told them this morning I wanted to return it.
  12. I did ask them to do that, but they said it wasn't possible which is strange as they state if a return is found not to be faulty then they may deduct £9.99 from the refund to cover the return so clearly, they get much better rates with DPD than I can, but say they can't do it in this case.
  13. Yeah, I’m not too happy. They want insured and tracked return which DPD are quoting me £54.73 for!
  14. Have sent the pics to guitarguitar and they are saying there is nothing wrong with it so won’t pay the return shipment cost, disappointing but a lesson learnt.
  15. Agree, It’s not the lack of symmetry in the burl that bothers me so much it’s the abrupt change in shade of the wood along the join.
  16. Most of the online ones I’ve seen do have some degree of symmetry between the two halves, they may not be perfect but they look a lot better than the ones I’ve been sent.
  17. The retailer implied the basses are drop shipped direct from the Cort distributor, so I guess in need to get one from Peach or a retailer that hold physical stock. They did say they’d get the distributor to check the 2nd one before sending but that obviously didn’t happen.
  18. I’ve just looked. Yeah, 2 out of 3 look good to me and the other one isn’t as bad as mine. The 2x green they have are both ok and all 4x 5 strings, grey and green look good.
  19. Here is the first one I sent back! Probably not quite as bad, but can’t believe I’ve been unlucky 2x in a row. Maybe I should wait a few months for Cort to sack the person responsible for book matching before I get a replacement.
  20. I believe Cort build for PRS in the Cort factory!
  21. I guess it’s always a bit of a lottery buying online on a mass produced bass.
  22. Like to dig in on occasion so not a fan of ramps
  23. First one… + Sounded Fantastic, had a lovely feeling neck - Neck initially like a banana, had to really crank the truss rod and it took all weekend to get it straight, was a bit worried about the amount of tension, but seemed ok in the end. - Top a bit mismatched - Pickup blend pot crackly Second one… + Great fretwork, can get <1.5mm action - Not sure it sounds as good, bass a bit weaker than 1st one. - Neck feels a bit rough in patches, needs sanding I think. - Top even more mismatched I should have kept the first one 🤦‍♂️
  24. Don’t think it said either, but every picture/video I have seen of them they are pretty well matched. Interestingly on the inspection card on both basses there are initials in the assembly, setup, electrics boxes but the “finish” box is empty.
