2.
That's just rude.
Sorry, I've been waiting ages to use that line. I couln't help it - it's done now.
 3. The amount of basses and women I've let slip through my fingers :brow:
 4.
Errrm its supposed to wear quickly......! Did you not read up on it before you bought it? They are finished in a thin cellulose finish that wears quickly to give you "a road used" look- Hence the moniker Highway! I have one. Although it has been well and truly pimped, I would thoroughly recommend it in its std form and pimped its excellent! I wanted to hate it but I cant, and I cant put the damn thing down, in fact its the first to be picked up now......
Erm - I know it's supposed to wear quickly, I read up on it & and test drove a couple before buying it - I was letting the bloke who started the thread know, Like I said I don't like pretty basses - mine is (was) the midnight wine red. I feel bad owning such a great bass but only being a hobbyist bassist, I should let it go to a better place but it's just really good or I could join a band. I hope sarcastic replies to helpful posts dodn't turn this site into the USA version where everyone tries to look a bit cleverer than the last bloke - let's keep it nice & have lots of love in our posts. Peace be with you - the rest can f**k off. (joking)
 5. Picking up the Squier tomorrow. Cheers everyone
 6. I have the Highway 1 jazz, I think it's the biz, the finish is appalling. Never played it live and the finish is pretty much 20% gone - I don't mind that much coz I don't really like pretty basses. Hope that helps a little bit. cheers
 7. Cheers everyone, looks like the squier unless I get hold of more money. cheers
 8. Hi, I'm after a fretless and have narrowed it down to 2, a Squier modified jazz or an Ibanez SR300dxf, I've played both briefly and like the them the same but want both that extreme MWAH sound and the more supptle Jaco sound, from the chance I had the Ibee had the Mwaa but the jazz had the suppltleness. Has anyone had more experience with one or both that can point me further in the right direction to save me extra legwork - I'd really appreciate it. cheers.

 10.
He is a great bass player and has a great voice but he is also an arrogant pr*ck who is stuck up he own a*se so far he hasn't seen daylight for 15 years and that is not cool. Kudos on using the word "biffer"
Saved me a post, But I can't believe no-ones mentioned Martin Kemp & that bloke from Kajagoogoo. Mick Karn and his Wal were the reason I started playing.
 11.
John's bass tech cut the old strings which Bernard loved from the bass and fitted new ones without John's permission. He went mental!
Oops! too late for sellotape. How did you get info like that, JT was a year above me at junior school but probably doesn't remember me, there must have only been a certain quata of bass talent issued to our school because I'm still barely adequate. Cheers
 12. I had a bass teacher earlier in the year (I had to give up for a bit due to ill health) who used to be a session musician, help told me one horror story that he sometimes had to play bass on tracks recorded by chart bands and then spend time teaching the bands actual bass player how to play the song in a very basic way - I always imagined one of them bass players was Martina Kemp, he wouldn't admit who the bands were - I'd love to know. Cheers
 13.
Ill give them a look too. Seriously though, have people definitely had haggling success.... and exactly how successful were you in your haggling? ( I feel all very Life Of Brian when I keep going on about haggling, lol)
I haggle even if I'm not buying just for the entertainment, remeber you can walk away if you don't like the price, I always start with a mock surprised 'Is THAT the best you can do'. Try it - it's fun & ggod luck with the shopping. Cheers
 14. Peter Cook's is good if your near Hanwell (that's just west of Ealing a bit) the shop is small but they have tons of basses in stock - it just takes them a couple of minutes to fetch them. Google them they have a web site. Cheers
 15.
Im a yam yam. Being a Brummie I suppose you like UB40 and Oirish only ?
Couldn't reply because I was in Oirland & I do like UB40 & I'm scarred now, are people from the black country watching me. I do like more than UB40, I like the beat, Black Sabbath, Toyah, DuranDuran & wizard. cheers
 16.
You don't sound much like a brummie to me .
I've lived in London for a while that's probably why you can't quite hear it, I'll post when I'm drunk or annoyed then you'll cover you're ears, an annoyed Brummie sounds like a clarinet played by an asthmatic. cheers
 17. Just joined up - so hello. I work nights so sometimes go on an American bass site because a lot of people are awake while I work (suppose to be working). Tried to play bass when I was 17 for about a year, moved to London from guess where? and forgot aboy bass, wife bought me one as wedding present, enjoyed it but sold it to put towards holiday in Oz fund. Started again about a year ago and am really into it big time - I wish I was this enthusiastic when I was 17 - I'd be adequate now. Play a Fender Highway jazz & really like it, hoping to get a fretless modified jazz soon but worried it might interupt my normal bass learning journey. Anyway, I sleep most of the morning but will try and go on line while wife isn't looking & when I should be practising. Cheers everyone
