1. I just got so sad after having read this thread.

I have been playing for 6 years now, and I am definitely stuck at speed now :) My left hand technique has improved greatly over the last few years and so has my right hand technique but not my speed.

My fingers are quite close to the strings but I can't seem to get past the barrier... my target at the moment being able to play Stockholm Syndrome by Muse (durr...) without a pick.

Is it just me who finds that song ridiculously fast to play or are there more of you who think that the song is quite fast to play?

  2. You either tune your bass down to C (I think that's how his status is tuned) or play it through an octaver. Wolstenholme does that quite a bit and it's what makes his bass sound so synthy (along with his big muffs).

  3. Nice bass!

If you need to raise money, get a crappy car, wreck your tail lights and just brake in front of loads of cars and try to settle with 200 pounds every time... see how quickly you can get this baby :) Just do that 30 times or what ?

    Have a bump!

  4. The previous owner asked Schmidt to install the SSRB-1B pickups instead of the usual MM pickups, and asked for a SD Hot-P instead of the Sandberg P pickups.

It love the P-sound of this bass and the rick pickup is a good addition!

  5.
If i could find a light enough 2x10 then i might think about it. It would be great if i could afford a markbass 2x10 combo but then again that money would probably be better spent on some insurance lolz.
I am one of those people that do not like the markbass gear... the tone is not vivid enough for me. As for a good lightweight cab, there are loads to be found in the amps and cabs forum; the leightweight cabs thread. I'm very fond of my Eden Nemesis set, but you might even want to go for less weight.
What amp are you currently using?

  6. The only way to get through the noise in rehearsals and actually hear instead of feel what I was playing: mids. I love it! I think I tried that one after reading about the sadface smiley here somewhat over a year ago and never got back from it!

  7. With my coverband we have good connections to a PA rental service, which we pay €100/150 euros depending on what set we need. We always get the same guy to come with us too (thank god he's good friends with us so he will work for free if it's a low-profit/playing even gig).
You need a PA or such a deal!

As for bass: in small pubs I don't get to play with DI, pure bass amp force. You need a good amp for that that doesn't go crazy at loud volumes! a 2x10" cab works like a charm in my case, preferably raised above-floor, or tilted if possible.

I was lucky though, to be able to get into a band with such connections!

  8. I'll talk to my luthier about it; he's bound to have a good opinion on it.

And I'm more thinking about what I want with it then a next possible owner. If I can mod it to my own liking I don't need to sell this :)
