Hi, was the refinish done by a luthier? Weight? Thanks
Hello! It is just under 8lbs. Very manageable, not too hard on the shoulders. And yes, a luthier refinished this.

A lovely '73 Mustang refinished tastefully in a Gold Sparkle. Original pots, pick ups, hardware etc. The obvious changes being the refin, and there has been some rewiring at some stage. The lacquer finish on back of the neck is partially worn, new owner may choose to sand it down but I like it as it is personally.
A rock n' roll machine, the real deal. These are great onstage and record brilliantly well. Some pics here:

Happy to send more pics on request.
Thanks so much, that is helpful. Appreciated!

I've just read all of this and at every turn you seem to have a reason not to take well established routes to success suggested by others who've been down the same route. I have twice been in this position and twice found success is relentlessly chasing the company in question (ParcelForce in my scenario), usually directly emailing the CEO or board of directors until they either make the effort to locate the item or they simply concede and offer compensation. There is obviously more to the situation, we'd all be curious to know the facts, some of us might genuinely be able to assist if the facts are known, especially with CEO contacts for many courier companies.
I take your point entirely, and do not want to seem evasive by any means...I always will try and give the benefit of the doubt to these people and companies who are working very hard.
Perhaps I might send you a message to discuss?

I admire your spirit! Something is definitely amiss with this situation in particular. That is my instinct. But I appreciate your replies...good to have some solidarity!

Might be worth you identifying the courier as it’s quite possible someone here can help with contacts or process?
Thanks mate. Already at quite an advanced stage with all that, and local manager of courier has essentially washed their hands of it. Officially declared 'lost'

I had a bass go missing sent through the same courier company at the beginning of lockdown, in my case there was a mix up at the post office and the labels hadn’t been put on correctly. After 5 months of doggedly chasing the company by the sender and myself the bass was located and arrived at my place in perfect condition. Don’t give up hope and make sure you get your evidence together and work with the other party. I feared theft but in actual fact it was a case of a mix up and subsequent delivery to a wrong address. There was an awful lot that went wrong however there were some good people at the company who really did put a lot of effort into ensuring I got my bass.
Thanks Ash, that's good advice for sure. I will remain hopeful...but box was also fully labelled, so postcode alone would be enough to track it you would have thought. Even the manager of said company said it's a lost cause because if wrong sticker had been applied, then something awry would have happened with another package. This one was collected and vanished before reaching the local depot.

It does happen, sorry to hear you are not having much luck with a refund
Thanks for the messages. I have to count my blessings at this time, worse things happen. But just wanted to put the word out in case members of the forum are offered it. And a cautionary tale...I had a good relationship or so I thought, and had sent things without issues for a long time.

If they have lost it then you will be refunded surely?
It went through 3rd party carrier. All complicated but not looking good at present.
It was an ebay sale, and not on here. I had to refund buyer and fully liable. A lesson learned...the hard way.

Been fully searched by company who I shall not name, but I shall never again send a Parcel through them, it has been a Farce and they have confirmed it is "lost." Was collected in Oxfordshire on way to Norwich. Never made it as far as Oxford depot. This was 4th August.
There is more to this than I can really say, due to legal sensitivies, but just be careful when shipping is what I would say. And if you see a bass like it please let me know.
Cheers

Heartbreaking scenario, but this bass was stolen from me, almost certainly by courier company. It was collected and scanned in...then vanished. Didn't even make it as far as local depot. A 120cm 9 kg item!
So just replying in case you get offered a 2007 Duesenberg Starplayer that looks like this.
Cheers

Thanks so much, I appreciate the further information re: the scale! They are great basses.

Duesenberg Starplayer Bass 2007, in gorgeous Sunburst. This bass is in absolutely fantasic condition as shown in the pics...barely a mark on it. It's described as medium scale, though it feels closer to a short scale IMO. Set up to perfection with flat wounds, these retail at over 2k, and you don't see them often in this condition on second hand market. Comes with high quality Fender gig bag. Grab a bargain!
Here follows the lowdown...
Rhythm Requirements
To meet the needs of the discerning bassist, the build had to deliver quality across the board. This bass does just that. The back and sides consist of flamed maple, the top is made up of spruce, while an American hardrock maple neck completes proceedings. A pair of Duesenberg BassBuckers have then been applied to deliver punch and presence. Responding well to varied musical scenarios, they project rich overtones of astounding clarity that will carve a place in any type of mix.
Attention to Detail
All of the hardware present on the Starplayer bass has been custom made by Duesenberg themselves. Fretboards offer increased playability due to the final hand-finished process, while the strings are firmly secured using an ultra-sturdy, fully adjustable bass bridge. To round it off, Duesenberg Z-tuners provide stable tuning and fast, yet simple replacement of strings.

A great era for US Precision basses. This came out the factory in California ready to party like it was 1999...because it was! Fender were on top of their game at this point.
The blonde finish on the body is beautiful: nicely translucent showing the grain as you can see in the pics, that looks very good with the rosewood fingerboard & 20 mid-jumbo frets. Bridge is string-through-body & pickup arrangement is a single P-style with volume & tone controls. This thing is so comfortable to play, the neck feels just great.
As you can see in the pics, this is in mint condition - an as new USA P-bass in a cool colour at this price is as good as it gets! Only thing to note is a small chip in the paint near the horn strap button, otherwise cosmetically it is perfect.
Comes with a hard case as seen in pics...

I wan't busy. Someone contacted me by chance. I thought it was a better scenario all round.
Is an initial deal agreed on Bass Chat somehow legally or morally binding? It's a transaction for a bass guitar, not the 10 commandments.
Dude, re-read this again when you have calmed down. Think about what you have gained by taking me down in public. NOTHING.
-
I guess I am not cool. Point taken. But I received an offer from someone who was willing to collect the bass in person.
Part of the deal we had discussed was me paying half of the shipping fee to get the bass to you in the Netherlands. Initially you wanted me to pay all the shipping costs. I also was nervous about shipping an expensive vintage bass. It was more that than the money to be honest.
It's like buying a house...sometimes these things fall through. It's life. Until money has changed hands, I reserve the right to consider all offers. I am sorry that you sold your bass, but that is your decision, and not one I was aware of.
No hard feelings, but stop with this slagging me off in public. You have already sent me two angry messages. Now that is what I consider the definition of NOT COOL to be.
Peace

Definitely all original

A very clean, all original version of these highly collectable basses. The Mustang bass is popular because its 30" scale, and distinctive sound. Notable users include Tina Weymouth and Bill Wyman. It was the last production bass designed by Leo Fender before he left the company.
Probably the finest playing, and best looking basses I have had the pleasure of owning, and a very reluctant sale due to financial reasons. As the pictures indicate, the bass is in fine condition, with just the occasional ding and scrape as you would expect from a 50 year old instrument. The matching headstock is rare, and to purchase this bass would be a sound investment, as value will only increase over time. Comes with hight quality non-original hardcase, and is strung with flat wounds - it plays like butter! Full set of pictures can be found here:

I am happy to ship the bass to UK mainland or Europe at buyer's expense.

A truly stunning red Hofner '63 verythin bass. This has lived a fruitful, but by no means traumatic existence. It had only one previous owner prior to myself - a bassist in 60's military jazz band. It was sold to me by his daughter in law, in the original Selmer case it came It had literally under the bed for a long time prior to that.
It was in superb condition upon me receiving it, although I noticed that the neck pickup did not have the same level of output as the neck. So my tech installed a "like for like" replacement genuine Hofner staple pickup in the bridge and put in a new volume pot. It now plays like an absolute dream, and the tech has been begging me not to sell it, but sadly I have some unavoidable financial commitments coming up. I have since been informed by a Hofner specialist that rewiring the pickup could have sorted the level problem. I have therefore included the original bridge pick up and pot should the buyer wish to restore to its 100% factory condition.
Shipping etc is possible. I hope you can see pics, let me know if there are any problems doing so. Thanks!

An all original Hofner 500/1 violin bass. This is definitely a 1970s model, I think late '70s because of the metal tuning pegs, 70s pickups, black control knobs, darker sunburst colour, "Hofner" logo on the scratch plate.
As you may know, in those times, Hofner made no effort at all with serial numbers and the only way of dating an old Hofner is by educated guess of the sum of its parts. Previous owner looked after it well, not gigged heavily.
Structurally, the bass is sound, see photo for one small dent on the back neck and a slightly unglued nut, none of which is structural and none of which affects playability.
All the electronics are working well.
There are no body cracks.
Being a 40-year old bass, there are plenty little marks but again that's character.
It has new Pyramids gold strings on it, the standard for Hofner basses. Sounds: FANTASTIC! Powerful thumpy Hofner and plays effortlessly. I really love the 70s pickups.
It has its own original case which is good in terms of retaining the basses value, but not practical for transportation as they were notoriously thin. So, I will include in the price a brand new Hofner gig bag. Price also includes shipping within the UK. I can also post within the EU at cost.
The price of all original Hofners with OHSC are often MUCH higher than this, but need funds to put towards a guitar asap, so priced for quick sale.

Right then. Dropping the price to £1000 cash. That's just insanity for this rare piece of Gibson history! Priority goes to any one who can collect in person.

Hi Shaggy!
I'm in Abingdon, Oxfordshire. Typical luck - I played a gig in Swansea last Friday.
I have a friend who lives out that way, or would be willing to ship. PM me for further details.
All best,
Nick
