exactly what I thought, I can't quite believe that these manufacturers just seem to dish out half a pedal when it comes to synths

i will asap, hoping there might be some nice patches left by people who actually know what they're doing, lol

Not sure about this one (definitely not making me think it's going to make me want to replace my FI!) but will leave this on here in case it's of interest.

 

 

seems ok, but bet it doesn't have the tweakability of the F1, still need to get the F1 into the pc to see what's in that editor btw....still don't know why pedal manufacturers don't just load these pedals with proper useable bass synth emulations, must be pretty easy to do, they'd sell by the bucket load,  someone's missing a trick here......

i think this is my problem with compressors, never really tinkered with them, having said that I've not used more than one fx at a time before, well not often, not sure I will be doing anyway, more over wanted to smooth out my aggressive finger style a bit, but also tame any peaks when using fx such as distortion & synth, I may end up not going down the compressor route but I think it's handy to have one, also not sure where it will go in the chain of fx but that's another matter for another thread

It's very transparent so don't expect it to nicely colour your tone, it won't.

It's also a great limiter. One of the best. That's what it's ended up being on my board.

Anyway, I've never tried a compressor which sounded good, always ended up sounding wooly, maybe it's because I don't really know how to use them, quite likely that they were on a cheap(ish) multi fx board.

Anyhow, seeing as I'm now running a separates pedal board I decided to look into, saw Scott of Scott's Bass Lines using one and it seemed to work really well, then I saw a demo of this, MXR Bass Innovations Bass Compressor, and again it seemed great.

I'd be running a bass synth, with a deluxe big muff and a few other pedals, is it worth the outlay on the MXR? seems to be the best of them out there?

I might just see if I can get away with any patches others have used, might save me a lot of time, although it might be easier than I think, we'll see, a lot of this depends on my accurate playing, the tracking is excellent, but want to find the right sound where I can do some fast runs, there's a few that presets will allow this, but my fingers have to be very accurate, they are pretty good but I'm no muso upper registry noodler....

I was told by the guy i bought it off that it had to be a midi interface, novation nio he used??

Well...my Future Imapct has arrived....it's rather large!! 

Had a noodle and it's great, although the presets will have to be tweaked so I'll have to download the program and have a look.

Any recommendations on Midi to USB cables? Seen a few on ebay.

Will try some of the presets others have made and see if i can get close to the sounds I want, probably only need about 10.

yeah, i thought as much, I'll try the PC hook up if I need to adjust the presets, which i may be able to live with, time will tell, I'll seek your advice on the relevant cabling if/when i do go down the PC editing route, cheers, Mark

is it easy enough to connect with midi? I think I have midi on my soundblaster card but i don't like midi too much, ok if you use it all the time, can you do a midi  outta the f1 to usb with some kinda connector cable or does it not work in that way?

as above....so below....great flick btw.....back on topic....I've jumped in with the Future Impact 1....good deal on EvilBay....can't wait....saw a guy doing a Whitney Houston demo on that there uTube using a Deep Impact so I'm guessing I can achieve with the F1.....reading the guide on here is like re-visiting the 70's/80's music shop experience for me...not wanting to sound disparaging to the author as it's superb, but it makes me feel as small as the current 5 pence piece, or half pence piece for those that recall......I'll report back....jeez, I might even throw in a video...over to the watch list for suitable attire....
