Hi Ziggy
How is this A4 compared to the A6 you had previously?
How versatile is it sound-wise?
Cheers.
the flamed maple is much beter than my a6.
this has the newer brigde on it wich is easir.
sound wise its very very good passive , active 3 band active.
yeah mate its lovely i played it lst night gonna play it sat and decide about selng it. about selling it. -
I went this way...
Then went back to my AH300SMX.
Too much hassle with pre-amps blowing hot & cold. Then the power amp blew up. It all spent more time OUT of the rack case than IN it!
I ended up wanting the "Plug and play" (and work / make noise) simplicity that they Trace continues to give me!
AND... 6u racks have a habit of getting mighty heavy, and are difficult to squeeze through a car door. If you're using a 1u pre-amp and 1u Tuner with a 2u power amp, go for a 4u instead, as they're more manoeuverable.
Whilst rack systems can give greater flexiblity, they can also introduce a degree of complexity that can be frustrating in the event of a fault arising.
If your head goes down mid-gig, you know you can't do much about it, and just try to borrow another.
If you have a rack, there's a temptation to fiddle with the rat's nest of cables at the back and to try and trace (no pun intended!) the fault to one unit or another and so on...
thanks for that mate sensible words man.
It would work fine, but think about casing the power amp seperatley - so you can use it as an add on without having to re-jig everything. The only potential problem is earth/ground loops, with a few mains powered items in contact through the rack rails, but I've never seen this with Trace stuff (it usually seems to be American stuff that suffers from this?).
cheers guvnor.

any guvnor im into headless now i got a headless sixer
so have a bump on me. -
hi people,
im currently using a trace 400smx head that powers too. and run usually a 4x10 off this and sometimes if i got energy to lift both cabs a 1x15 too.
i was thinking of getting a separate power amp and separate head, as i ve read that with a power amp/ amp set up i coulkd send more pwer to my 1x15 rather than my 4x10 to get a great balance.
is this true and would you guys recomend going for this set up?
I just got a rack tuner so am gonna need a rack to keep that safe so was thinking of upgrading my head system, and fit it into the new rack case. think id ned a six rack , two for pre amp two for amp, 1 for tuner and one spare.
cheers

I think done the right thing swapping my thumb with the sei.(Added a picy of my thumb)
i had the thumb for 17 yrs!!!!! but had a accident skiing and my shoulder is painfull wichever bas i wear but the sei sits lovely.
ta for advice about single cut,
i may try and sell my two fours then get some cash together for a decent 4 string the difference between my sei and my other basss is incredible, i think basses are so much more a part of a msician than other instruments as i was told that buying a hand made bass wuldnt be better than buying a standard factory bass!!!(by a giutarist).
popycok!
im gonna take my sei into the gallery get some new electronics put on it and maybe get martin to re-finish it as its had a few owners i think, i hope he has time for me as im not buying a new one!
ill start saving!!!
have another bump on me.!!!! -
altough looking at the build diares ,
I should save up and get one made. Whats the benefit of a sigle cut?
Yep like he said^^^^^^^
Make sure you loosen the string off or better stil remove it, oh and PLEASE use the correct size spanner/screwdriver/ allen keys as you'll be well annoyed if you make a mess....!
remember they are US made so they are AF sizes not metric.
cheers guys top remarks
Thats what i,m gonna do, so as i said she's still up for sale
my thumb was a 94 so if any of you guy's have one or similer for sale
its odd all this talk about warwicks.
i love my thumb six tone and my new warwick dolphin sntcs is perfectly balanced.
to buy new warwicks stil cost you loads ( new thumb £2300.00!)and the older ones are nicer made.
my neck profile on my thumb 6 is super slim slimer than my 5 string and nearly as slim as my cort artisan 4 string!!!
the bartolnis just kill anything else that ive played, yeah he neck is long but since i got the comfort strap sorted its alright . i think all makes of everything in general is a little bit cheaper at the mo as no ones got any dough!!!
I mean check out the back of my thumb its lovely.!!
lets hope they come back in fashion!!!!. -
dude if you dont like the sei, then you dont like it, dont try n force yourself to, i think what me and others are saying is that you would be very silly to trade it for a thumb bass as the sei is worth WAY more at the moment, but if you really want a thumb again, sell the sei, pocket a load of cash AND get a thumb
mmmmmmmmmm
me just waxed my thumb 6 89 neckthrough bartolini bass
and cleaned the fret board!!!
alwayws wanted a boutiqui basss!!!
gonna wax my dolphin sntcs 5 stringier tomorrow ( Peizo brigde and brass nut)
mmmmmm
any thoughts boys???
im very confused! -
Try and hear some Bartolinis. I don't have experience of the newer pickups but I have the older versions on 2 of my basses and they sound huge, lots of fat bass oomph!
yeah have to agree with you as i got old bartolinis on my thumb six and they blow all my other pickups away.
on my cort i got the bartolini mk1s (i know they are a litle sub standard bartolinis ) but i am well mpressed with them.
i got mec on my dolphin theyare nice but my lace sensors on my jazz seem a bit weak.
ta for comments just bought some lemon oil!!!!
