1. my vt bass DI manual reads 1k. there are some graphs on other forums which shows it at 1k too. different versions maybe? 🤷‍♂️ joyo american's is at 500 as opposed to blonde (also according to some graphs on the net)
2. interesting! how? what was the difference between the two? other than the mid control
3. hey everyone i have a VT bass DI. it sounds great for ampeg tones. but i'm not really a big fan of its mid control which is centered at 1kHz. the joyo american's mid which is around 400-500Hz seems more interesting. anyone using this joyo pedal? how does it sound? is it any good at resembling fender tones? not looking to replace the VT. just thinking of adding to my options. I really like the fender sound I hear in recordings/live videos etc... thanks
4. Hey all. can i change the value for the 4.5k slider to somewehre around 1.2 to 1.6k? i don't have access to any mod kit or modder. have to do it by myself. i can solder.
5. heard one or two negative reports about CS3's low end loss. what's your experience with it? no chance for me to mod it. is it that bad the way it is?
6. thanks a lot. i'll stay away from ross/dynas, i hated my mxr supercomp too, though i bought it because of the attack knob for exactly what Jus Lukin mentioned above*. but that thing just kills the lows i like. replaced it with an ehx bass preacher (featuring the attack control again), it's action is a bit subtle for that effecty type of job (in my personal taste). still does a very good job of smoothening, very transparent it is. that's a keeper for when i need that type of compression. those CS-3, buddha and Palmers look to be cool and all feature an attack control. seems that the TC is not for me because i don't feel like tweaking a lot, programming etc. but thanks for your input friends. *Edit: in fact, as labeled on the knob, that's a control for the attack LEVEL not the attack TIME.
7. good day BCers do you know any decent compressors under 100$ to use as an effect to add punch/attack/fatness to my tone? with zero loss of lows. i mostly play with a pick or finger-style. don't care much about limiting or smoothening. no slap n pop. thanks in advance
8. FYI, i ended up asking the studio and they responded that they used a 70s B-15N and one or two distortion pedals for that part.
9.
Tbh I hate talkbass. Unlike here most of there members are not the most friendly of people. And if you make a mistake you will be jumped on.
right on! i don't remember getting ANY help there. they get into off topic fights against each other every time in every thread in just a blink of an eye. they even start threads against another person's opinions/postings/comments/etc.!! crazy! but here, every time i start a thread folks turn up only for help and i go home with a handful of useful information. hope they never reach here.
10. doesn't the overdrive part have a lot of miced B-15N characteristics in it? with the bass knob dimmed? just curious! so maybe some B-15N inspired pedals come handy for this purpose.
11.
As I hear it..you are trying to achieve a chain saw type attack. The pick is one way and I'd be dropping out the low mids..and bring in higher mids...which is where the hole seems to be. I would be looking to not thickening up the sound at all. I'm not sure about comnpressors here... but you might need to use one to tame the sound. First off, I'd be looking to find the sound without. To me that sound is 'thin'... so a distortion pedal with tone on it. Something with a lot of editing capability ..Gt10-B might allow you to take out the conponent parts quite easily to get close.
thanks man. i pushed my pre to dist with some boost from the comp, added the chorus, cut 250Hz and boosted 800 and got pretty close. i'll bring the speaker sim of my fender di into the chain to get a more amp/cab like tone cutting higher highs and lower lows. a bit of room reverb effect would give it some dimension and life no?
12.
Hard to say...there is a big gaping EQ hole there.... so something with distortion, a flanger and delay might be getting there. I'm assuming you haven't got any of theses pedals so a cheap FX board like a ME might work..
thanks JTUK for chiming in. for the dist part i have an ehx comp into a tube pre. for modulations i'll use the zoom ME. but i was more curious about the type of the drive and wanted to know what type of drive is it? an specific pedal that sounds like this? an specific amp? etc. maybe there's something to do with the eq. so maybe go comp>pre>mod>eq and eq to the desired tone. i'll try when home. can you please explain the gaping eq hole you heard with a little more detail? cheers
13.
any idiot could have worked that out
hahaha! damn no way i talk this way to anyone, specially when they are trying to help!
Slightly overdriven and lots of reverb, possibly a bit of chorus is my guess so far?
good point! i'll try the modulations on my zoom b2 into my tube preamp. with a pick!
14. thanks. so till now pick, humbuckers, overdrive, and flange/chorus have been heard! do you know what kind of overdrive can sound like this?
15.
On my sidebar on that clip was this: https://www.youtube....h?v=gU_bJtRwWbM their live show from BBC6 festival. it might be on there? And there might be a pedlaboard shot?
thanks. tight bandwidth. will check it out at work.
16. guys did i use some wrong words? by "obviously" i meant to agree with Dan.
17.
It's played with a pick - you can tell by the attack.
obviously
18. all i know from their website pics is that she played a blasck'n'maple 70s P in the studio to record this album. more curious about the process and the effects or any set up that can do the closest.
19. how can i achieve the tone on 2:16 in this track? i have a P bass. do you know of any effects unit(s) which can do this? or a miced amp is the only way? which one? can anyone list the paths to this, ordered by price? sorry, bad english, tone and gear noob. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8gcFQnR_LB8
20. the 90$ Fender Originals fit better in my budget range. how are these?
21.
I like the Fender Original, sometimes confusingly called the '62 Re-Issue pickup.
yes. Custom Shop '62 and Fender Original are two separate products.
22. Yep. i tried to look Thumpers up but with no success. thanks mates, thanks Paul for the link. the price is very attractive both on JLs and Thumpers.
23. Thanks a lot friends. those are pretty good options to check out.
24. Voiced: 1. vintage, not modern 2. not boomy, good thump, good mids, not growly, good but not sizzling highs. - i use XL chromes - i tried SD SPB-2 & 3s. on SPB-2s i love their mids and hi mids's balance (strong mids vs moderate hi mids) but disliked the boominess and i think they lack in the top end (to my ears). on SPB-3s i love what's happening in the lows (strong lows while not boomy at all and very thumpy) and hate the rest (scooped mids, exaggerated highs ...) - budget is tight so boutiques are not an option for me. - output doesn't matter. - how are SPB-1s? please share your knowledge and experience with me. i'll appreciate that. Cheers -T
