  1. hi Japhet. how's the low end on it? the green rhino
  2. how's the low end on the green rhino?
  3. Hello again Basschat! anyone using Green Rhino? How's the low end? searched a lot, but reviews are somewhat mixed so i thought i'd ask. please share your experience with it with me. thanks in advance T PS: narrowed down my choices to this due to the availability in our local shops and i can't test it in person.
  4. thanks for sharing your knowledge. guess I'm going to start with EB cobalts 55-110 ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ‘
  5. Hello fellow down tuners in Basschat ๐Ÿ™‹โ€โ™‚๏ธ please help me find the brightest sounding stiff flats for standard D tuning. my P-bass which is a roger waters model is currently strung with 45-105 d'addario chromes which are pretty good in that tuning. just wanted to know if there is any other set with stiffer feel and brighter sound. I've heard steve harris set goes dead sounding pretty soon. so what are other options out there which I should be aware of? thanks.
  6. hey everyone! ๐Ÿป has anyone ever seen/used a comp as simple as it can get, even down to two knobs, no tubes, no blend, etc. which doesn't lose low end and can squish. yes I have read Ovnilab. I have a markbass compressore which I can get it to do ANYTHING compression. but: 1. the markbass has a warm tone and colors the tone which I love, but for now, I want a "transparent squish"! if that makes sense! and maybe a bit faster attack than what the markbass offers. 2. how do those one-knob compressors on amps like SVT 4 pro work? I like the sound and action of it's modeling in my IK SVX plugin, set at noon. and I would really love one of those knobs in a pedal. I'm mostly a pick player and never slap cheers T
  7. spent about two months with the joyo american sound. loving it! ๐Ÿคฉ voice settings 7 to 8:30 o'clock sound fantastic. very fenderish bass tones and plenty of low end. I keep the EQ completely flat! drive between 9 to 11 covers from ampish clean to some nice breakup for me. very responsive! that's my favorite and most used settings. one can push it a bit (voice: 9 to 10, drive: 12 to 13 o'clock) and get some creamy tones out of it. it's capable of that. just remember to cut the treble a bit with settings like this. when recording, you can actually bring up the deepest lows by backing off the low eq to settings below 9! and the mid and treble relatively. this flattens and levels the 100(ish)Hz boost of the built-in speaker sim, and it'll sound as when you blend in some of your amp's DI signal. I mean really deep lows! they're all there. I really wonder, why haven't they make these with a better quality footswitch and added DI out? I would pay the extra what 20 dollars for that, in a heartbeat!! EDIT: tested on P-Bass with flats!
  8. great review. does it have fender bassman DNA in its tone?
  9. how does the pedal colour the sound with the OD off? tubey? uncolored? fender DNA? thx
  10. yeah and pearloid for that late 80s/early 90s lush chorus sound, eh?!
  11. actually it's the second time I'm putting the gold pg on the bass. the first time I thought i heard a difference but didn't take it seriously. but this second time I'm hearing it again. so...
  12. more like a raised pickup height, soundwise?
  13. what's up BC? just for the sake of a topic (I'm bored), to my hand and ears I hear more overtones w/ this gold anodized pg on my alder body maple fingerboard P-bass compared to my 3-ply black pg! just saying! I imagine it's something that's barely noticeable in a mix. but solo it's there. not necessarily a brighter tone, just a bit more ring and maybe sustain I can feel. or is it just me? ๐Ÿค”
  14. we grin and bear! cheers man โšกโšก
  15. Thank you Woodwind. 3-4 hours use of public transport per day, in Tehran! loud and frightening traffic on the way to office. excessive use of horn and wild bikers everywhere. savage people who are unable to do a small task without making lots of unnecessary noise. I'm also HSP (highly sensitive) so you can imagine. time to get my ears checked i think ๐Ÿ˜ฃ
  16. oh thanks everyone for shedding a light on this. never expected it to be a serious factor. sounds right as i just start playing when i get home after about 10-12 hrs of work outside and my ears are already tired and when the clarity goes away it never comes back no matter what. thanks again
  17. hi all my bass' sound gets muddy after about an hour of playing. mexican P bass with standard pickups. i tested it with my pedals and amp out of the setup. latest test setup: bass > directly into audio interface > headphones (K44). so the suspected components narrowed down to just the bass and/or headphone. can headphones do this? lose clarity after an hour of use? or if it's the bass where should i look? bad cap? pot? pickup? help appreciated
  18. original 62 pickups in my mim P. I always tend to set the comp and pre in a way so there's a touch of breakup in the tone
  19. thanks for the input Baloney. yes i have an additional cab sim at the end of my setup before my audio interface or amp return. the fender microDI. everything sounds fantastic through it. my current setup is : tuner > tcmojomojo(occasional use, great tool for rounding out the tone when run clean) > markbass comp > VTDI > fenderDI/cabsim i'd put the american sound before the VT and sometimes blend in some of the VT tone with the joyo using VT's blend. i can also sometimes benefit from VT's cabsim by setting the pedal completely flat and clean with just its cabsim turned on. imagining all the options, can't wait for it to arrive so i can set up and see what would come out of these.
  20. and here's the link for VT graphs: https://www.talkbass.com/threads/tech21-vt-bass-wheres-the-magic.607213/
  21. yep that's exactly the thread i was referring to
  22. strange, i agree honestly i was a little disappointed when i found out mine is at 1k. current manual: http://www.tech21nyc.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/VT_DI_OM_v6.pdf one interesting fact is they've put a 500/1k mid shift switch on the amp version of VT!! ๐Ÿคฏ hope one day they come up with a real MK2 of the pedal which features this switch for those interested
  23. ordered the pedal. thanks JL
