Honestly I wouldn't back myself to correctly tell humbuckers from single coils in a blind clean tone test.
Let alone tonewoods and the rest.

Apart from 'slow down' or 'speed up' unless you drum yourself (I don't) I think it can be quite difficult to explain to a drummer what you'd like them to be doing in terms that make sense to them.
Suggesting ' No it should be baddum dum tish tish dum' will only get youso far.
I've generally taken the cowards way out - let the drummer lead and worked the bassline around that.
Having said that playing with just the drummer can be a thing of joy just in itself. No distractions from other band members who have their own wishlist of what they need to work on.
I'd be very suprised is you weren't playing better together as a unit by the end of the practice

A lot if not most celebrity/band/politician's official social media accounts are run by PR teams.
There's a fair chance whoever you were messaging never saw it.

When I first started playing for various reasons I got into a habit of mostly practicing unamplified.
These days I have my practice rig permantly set up and ready to go at a flick of switch in the spare room, but I still quite often just grab one of the basses/guitars scattered around the house and just start noodling without plugging it in.

So, the Fender Jaguars with the humbuckers are Custom Shop builds which puts those lovely looking Short Scales out of my budget. Let's hope for a Squier version.
There's a Squier affinity Jag bass with a single humbucker.
I've never played one but as long as the neck is straight I reckon it could be refined/modded into something pretty close to whatever the RB guy is using.

I've never really had much time for Elton John, I've never particularly liked his voice and I tend to associate him with Phil Collins and Michael Bolton and all the worst of the bland mainsream AOR stuff of the 1980s.
Having said that I think his set last night has won me round, I really enjoyed it and I've had various Elton tunes stuck in my head all day. I think I'm going to start working through his back catalogue later to see if I've badly misjudged him.

Lizzo's set is well worth a watch on iplayer especially for anyone who likes a bit of 70s soul/funk.

I enjoyed Maneskin. They really got the whole crowd going. A bit samey but fun to watch. And Victoria is a solid bass player.
I didn't realise they were on, I've listened to a fair bit of their stuff since I first heard 'I Wanna be Your Slave' on the radio and generally been quite impressed.
The live stuff I've seen online has been pretty good too, I'll see if I can find their Glasto set later.

Blondie:
Debbie's voice isn't what it was but the band and the arrangements are spot on and somehow the whole thing actually works pretty damn well.

I've never really listened to Yusuf Islam/Cat Stevens but I'm quite enjoying his set.
Perfect for a sunny Sunday afternoon.

I think I had everything that G&R did before Mr Rose went solo and kept the name.
I don't recognise half of their current set.

Eminem has been around Frome the last week. My daughter served him a burger, he was polite. Maybe he'll show up somewhere at the festival.

Just having a little trip down memory lane with Sparks.
In a few minutes I shall be revisiting the heady days of 2005 when a mate asked me if I wanted to see a band he'd heard on Zane Lowe's new music show on Radio 1.
Ended up at the Wolverhampton Little Civic to watch the Arctic Monkeys playing to a sold out crowd of around 100 people.
Damn good they were too, though neither me or my mates had any inkling of their imminent meteoric rise.
As the only band I've ever seen in a tiny venue that went on to become genuinely massive and stay the course (for nearly 2 decades now) they've always had a special place in my heart.

Playing to a crowd the size Foo Fighters are playing to would cause some underwear soiling.
I'm a bit nervous about playing to one hundred next month and there's probably a thousand times that number there
The other 'favourite' for the mystery artist slot was Harry Styles, who would also have been a massive draw
Not sure what a venn diagram of Foos fans and Styles fans would look like ...
The Foos are one of the best live bands I've ever seen and I say that as someone who has tried and failed to get into their albums several times.
The same material I'm indifferent about on their albums somehow gets lifted to a much higher level when they perform it live.
I reckon it'd be a tough crowd that they couldn't win over.
Speaking of which, Royal Blood up next on the Pyramid ...

Foos currently live on iplayer

I'll put a fiver on it not being Axl Rose. Elton is a bit of a fan of noisier rock music though.
I'll guess Dave Grohl will be one of Eltons guests.
You've just given me a flash back to this.
For the benefit of the unitiated Mr Rose only comes on for the heavy bit and they only sing together over the very last lines, but it's it's not beyond the realms of possiblity that Elton could assemble enough of the original personel to recreate it.....

I just realised Elton is at Glastonbury and Dave Grohl is there as well. Both of them have played on Queens Of The Stone Age records so I wonder whether either will join QOTSA on stage on Sunday evening.
Read an interview with David Furnish this morning where he mentioned that Elton is going to be bringing a couple of special guests out for his Glasto set.
No hint as to who though.

Warwick and Stratford aren't 5-10 minutes apart though?
I've never been to Bass Bros but I live locally.
Their contact address is Harbury lane in Leamington, which is not far at all from BD in Warwick, although there can be heavy traffic in the area at peak times.

I'm fascinated by these.
Much like the esteemed Mr @Reggaebass I'm a bit baffled.
I'm certain that somehow all the strings maintain a relationship with fretboard that's more or less orthodox, ie: lowest action at the nut gradually increasing evenly across each string to the bridge.
But my eyes and brain can't quite work out how it does this when I look at the pics.

Personally I find that a lot nicer looking than the Gibson version of a Les Paul bass.

When I got to the checkout I realised I could get an additional £12 off by using the loyalty points earned when I bought my Squier CV LPB Bass VI. Result! I can't wait to see his little face when I surprise him with it (he's 21 btw)
Coincidentally I got nearly £100 off my Bass VI from Andertons by cashing in several years worth of points.
The loyalty scheme isn't the main reason I usually look at Andertons first when the GAS hits (I think that's a combination of a good website, lot of stock and me being slightly brainwashed by all the Andertons clips I've watched on Youtube) but it's certainly a nice bonus.

Ohhh, have you seen that Shell Pink one anywhere online? Can't seem to find it on the Squier site or any other retailers.
I'm also very taken with the pink one, although at the moment I acn't find anyone offering them either
I suspect it may be a limited dealer edition, like the purple metallic Squier Bass VIs that were exclusive to Andertons in the UK recently and I'm fairly sure also to a single chain in the US.
Really hoping that they will be available sonewhere in the UK.

Radio 1 Big Weekend isn't a new thing, they must have known they were signing up for a pop festival aimed at 16-25 year olds.
Although if they'd been on one of the smaller 'alternative' stages they'd probably have found a much more appreciative audience.
Going on between former One Directioner Niall Horan and epic sing along balladeer Lewis Capaldi on the main stage was always going to be a hard sell for them
Your thought - the best online book for learning slap teq ?!

This series took me from not being able to slap properly at all to being sort of OK in a few weeks.
I'll never be Marcus Miller or Victor Wooton though.
