  1. £160 POSTED

I've not used this for a little while, and I've moved towards HX Stomp as an all-in-one solution for my FX/pre/DI needs. I now want to free up funds for other things, plus I'd rather put it in the hands of a BCer that will use it rather than leave it gathering dust.

Some scratches on the casing, but obviously these things are extremely solid so nothing of any real consequence.

I'm in Surrey and happy to arrange local pickup or meet if you would prefer.

I bought this thinking I'd be doing a lot of practice away from my laptop/interface, but that never ended up happening. And I want to free up funds for other things.

Looks like there were some feet on the underside at some point but these have been removed.

Let me know if you would rather pick up, I'm in Surrey.

  3. I've just retired my paper pad and I am now using forScore on an iPad for charts and occasional dots.

I don't actually need charts for most of the songs my bands play. But I do want to use forScore to keep track of the whole setlist.

When I go to the setlist in forScore, it's obviously only got the songs I have charts for. What's the best way to augment this with the other songs? Do I have to create blank charts for those? (please say no).

    Thank you in advance BCers

Also, if you go the roof box route PLEASE ensure you lock it! I had a VERY scray experience once while driving our band van when the roof box of a car in front exploded open at 70+mph littering the motorway with detritus including, but not limited to, a duvet and some sleeping bags which went under our van wheels at said high speed and very nearly killed us....

How tall is Mrs DylanB, how old are the sprogs?  If Mrs DB isn't super tall and the kids aren't 17 year old England Junior rugbyists, then get the passenger seat as far forward as you can and strap the bass in its gig bag vertically to the rear of the seat.

The kids are still young, and that’s the problem actually; they still need car seats, which are fairly bulky. So I’m not sure it’ll work. Worth experimenting though. Thanks!

Have you tried your bass in the boot, I had a couple of Octavia VRS saloons over the years and I could get two Precisions in gig bags immediately behind the rear lights (at the wide bit!) my 11 plate was slightly better than my 64 plate but even with the 64 plate the little plastic divider on the left can be removed to make it wider...not sure you would get a Thunderbird in there but anything Precision sized will fit in a gig bag

    Hmm… I will experiment.

I saw the Polish klezmer trio Kroke play once (violin, accordion, double bass), and afterwards noticed them loading up into an estate car with a fibreglass case for the double bass on a roof rack. It looked to me as though he had a 3/4 bass in a soft case that fitted inside the hard case, which was possibly made for a 4/4 bass to give space. The hard case was permanently fixed to the roof rack. It took two of them to lift the bass in, but it evidently meant that the whole band could tour in one estate car.

Yeah I think it’s de rigueur in the DB world to put the bass on the roof. Understandable. Which makes me think it wouldn’t do any harm.

Also, I absolutely love that the BC response to this question seems to be “buy another bass!” Never change 🤣

  6. Hello hive mind

I have an opportunity to combine a gig with a family holiday. What has stopped me doing this in the past is the fact that I can’t get my family (wife and 2 kids) and my gear in my Skoda Octavia hatchback at the same time.

The biggest issue is that with the seats up, the bass will only fit in the boot diagonally, which obviously cuts down on the space for other stuff. Not an issue normally because I can fold the rear seats down, but in this scenario that means no kids.

I’m thinking about getting a roof box for the car that is long enough to fit a bass guitar in. In a case, obviously. Then I think I’ll have room for everything between the boot and the remaining space in the roof box.

Anyone had issues transporting a bass this way? People have mentioned vibrations as a potential issue, but in that respect is it really going to be worse than having it in the boot? This would be in the summer so temperature not a huge issue.

Grateful for any insight, recommendations, horror stories…

  7. EDIT: I will take £420 for this plus £10 shipping.

I’ve got Stomp XL gas so this has to go. I made a FS thread a few years ago for this but never pushed it as my heart wasn’t really in it. But here we go!

Pretty good condition for how old it must be. A few paint chips missing. Functioning perfectly.

It came to me with a power supply which I’m pretty sure is not original, but it works so I’ll include in the sale. I never really used the cable as I had it on a board with a Voodoo Labs power brick. Includes a v tatty box and instruction sheet.

Collection/meet up preferred, or add £10 for Royal Mail special delivery (includes insurance).

I’m pretty sure a Stomp XL is the only trade I’ll consider at this point.

  8. Just sold Chris a Q-Tron. No hassles at all, his quick payment meant it was all done and dusted on my side in a single day. And he’s even merging my multiple feedback threads into the bargain! Top BassChatter 👍

  9. EDIT: I will take £75 posted!!!

Great distortion pedal that gets surprisingly synthy. Could have sworn I sold this already, but obviously not!

With box and manual. 9/10 condition on the top, the protective plastic is still on! Knobs are a bit gunky. Operationally tip-top.

I was a bit over-zealous with the velcro when attaching to my pedalboard, then when I went to remove it some of the finish peeled off the back. Tried to remove the velcro at the top but chickened out when it was clear the black sticker would come off along with it.

NOTE - THIS PEDAL CAME FROM THOMANN AND AS SUCH COMES WITH A EUROPEAN POWER SUPPLY ONLY (see pictures). I have not used this power supply, I always powered it from the power block on my pedal board.

£100 posted, alternatively you can collect from Carshalton, or I will meet for petrol money.

Only thing I'm gassing for is a Helix Stomp, so no other trades please.

  10. EDIT - On hold pending

I'm not using this these days so off it goes.

Awesome envelope filter. Working well, though some of the pots are a bit scratchy. Lots of surface scratches as was on my board for quite a while.

Comes with original EHX power supply, box, instructions (which I seem to have got wet at some point, but they weren't being kept with the pedal!)

£80 posted, alternatively you can collect from Carshalton, or I will meet for petrol money.

How are your strings holding up @DylanB and @NancyJohnson et al?

I’m tempted to try them as like most people I can’t find elixirs anywhere.

They’re a decent alternative to Elixirs. I actually took them off fairly quickly as I convinced myself I wanted something with less tension (which turns out not to be true). I’m set with DR Lo Rider steels for now, but if I wanted to go back to the coated route I’d give the LongEvos another try.

  12. Another great experience with Bass Direct. I accidentally bought a couple of sets of the wrong strings. I sent them back and BD exchanged them quick as a flash for the correct ones no questions asked, and even ate the cost of posting the 2nd shipment. They’re a really good bunch.

  13. Never in my 15 years of playing have I ever broken a string or had a bass crap out (battery, jack, etc) mid gig. In fact I’ve never broken a string, period.

I never used to take a spare to gigs because of this reason. But I have started to now. It feels slightly ridiculous, and means a longer setup (gotta make sure the backup is ready and in tune). But as my gigs tend to be functions, I don’t want the blame if something goes wrong.

Trouble is you can go down the rabbit hole. Spare amp, spare cab, spare suit, spare car...
