  1. Just to further complicate matters I'm in the process of going to an ampless setup on in ears so could potentially need something with a cab sim or at least get a cab sim pedal in addition.

Too much gear not enough time 🤔

Personally I reckon the Tech21 VTDI, BDDI, DP3X, or the soon to be released YYZ might get closer to that particular tone.

I haven't tried the new Darkglass X pedals, but from the Vintage/B7K/Alpha Omega range, the AO or the newer Vintage models with the attack switch would get closest to that I reckon.

Sold a VT Bass Deluxe last week 🙈

First practice today without some form of VT Bass pedal in over a decade.

Will check out the for sales 👍🏼

  3. Hello,

I'm wanting to get involved with some darkglass dirt having sold some of the setup which has served me well for the last 5 years.

My favourite bass tone has been the first track from this EP

    https://wecamefromwolves.bandcamp.com/album/paradise-place-ep

but I've struggled to recreate it live.

The setup was G&L SB2 (back pup) > REDDI > SVT Skunkworks (for sale soon) > Mesa mkV > SM7b > Api pres

This produced a nice biamped distorted  tone with loads of clarity.

I'm leaning towards a microtubes X or X7 but haven't had a chance to play through any of the Darkglass stuff and am absolutely dead with all the crap Dingwall djent or slap 'drive on 10' demos online.

    Help a brutha out!

    Cheers

    Rob

  4. Excellent condition SVT in a box with DI

Capable of fat 50s flip top to crazy overdriven SVT and everything in between.

Has been my 'always on' pedal for the last 5 years and the original for 5 before that

    Pics tomorrow...

  5. You all know the score here, one of the best cabs ever made and £1199 new if you can get them.

Easily the best cab I've ever played but alas it has to go as I'm moving onto an all in ear setup so needing to let it go to a player.

In excellent condition with padded Bergantino cover included.

Will get some pics up tomorrow.

Based in Perth but visiting family in Leeds quite often so can meet on the way or can deliver up to 60miles radius of Perth provided cleared funds in my account beforehand.

  6. Beautiful Bass!

Apologies for the slight hijack but how do you find the output of the pickup?
I've got a 2015 L1000 and even on singlecoil mode i have to use the active input of any amp otherwise it sounds like its overloading the input and i get what i term as compression distortion on the low E.

It sounds heavenly when i get the right input and dial it in

  7. Is the isolation that much of a factor in the difference between the 2 companies though? -26dB vs -20dB

The price and the sound quality are the deciding factors at the moment.

The quads are near identical prices but as you up the driver count, you are $200-300 more expensive going 64 audio.

It's a bit of a ballache being in Scotland as well, as it would be good to try the same number of drivers in a universal fit from both manufacturers.

At the moment I'm leaning towards quads but to double the driver count with JH Audio (JH13V2) its only around an extra £200 + the bonus of adjustable bass. Worth it?

  8. Nice article EBS.

Recently read through the thread and there's some great insight from you!

Which model of IEMs are you using, did I read correctly you have JHAudio Roxannes?

My band have just been offered endorsements with JHAudio and 64 Audio (formally 1964 ears).

    In reality it's only 20% off :(
Have you any experience with 64 Audio?

We Headlined the Garage in London the other week and the monitor engineer was a 64 audio distributor. He got me onto 64 ears and was saying this company is unique due to having some apex technology which stops pneumatic pressure fatiguing your ears.

Is this some 'broscience' designed to put you off other companies do you know?

It's a bit of a ballache as well the pound being so weak as a quad set of customs from 64 will cost about £900 once customs have had their pound of flesh

    Any help greatly received!

    Cheers

    Rob
